  1. Hi Joined a 5 a side league with Champion Soccer a few months ago with a group of friends. We played a few weeks because of friends working shifts they would be called into work at short notice so was hard to always make the games. I decided as I was the manager they were pestering, to inform them we would be leaving the league as I couldn't guarantee the teams commitment due to circumstances out of my control. They told me we wouldn't be able to leave the league until they find a replacement team, which I find ridiculous as they can just not bother and send a massive bill to you by the end of the season! I ticked an agreement at the start of the application to say I would pay the fixtures for the season, but have not signed nothing therefore cannot prove I ticked it. I have recently looked at the league and noticed teams with different names to when we started which makes me think they have found replacements and not informing me. I have recently received a letter insisting they will be going to the county court to claim the debt (£416) and it has me worried. I have seen other posts on the website but none have came to a conclusion? I'm tempted to try my luck and ignore them? Anyone have any info, would be great.. or if you need to know more info I will share. Thanks
  2. Hi, my son who is 15 yrs old signed up (even though it stated you must be over 18) to enter a team in this soccer league which was accepted. He played a few games then had problems with mates not turning up etc...anyway he has pulled out and they are chasing him and calling him saying they will take him to court for payments to the end of the season!!...i have emailed them saying he is only 15 and to refrain from harassing him...today he had a letter saying they will take further action...whats my best course of action? many thanks
  3. Hi, This may seem a bit of an odd one, but hope someone can advise. Me and a few mates started playing six a side football a while ago, after 2 games the organisers cancelled the next one due to a big televised football game, then the week after that was a bank holiday so we didn't play either. I then went on holiday, and while I was away the rest of the team couldn't make up the players, so didn't turn up to the game. When I got back from holiday, no-one could be bothered to play anymore, and I had an invoice sent to me for £60 for the team not turning up to the game. So I just left it. I have now had a letter demanding £864 in unpaid match fees for the remainder of the season, otherwise they will be making an application to the county court to recover the debt. They state I signed a legally binding application form in which I personally agreed to..... "Accept full responsibility on behalf of my team to fulfill and pay for all fixtures as required and agree to abide by the rules of the competition" They then state "In the likely event of our application to the court being successful, you will be liable for the court costs, in addition to your credit rating being negatively affected". The said application form can be found at the link below: http://www.championsoccer.co.uk/template/usertemple/images/General+Application+form.pdf Can someone let me know where I stand with regards to this so called ''debt'' Thanks, Dean
  4. Hi I was recently part of a 6-a-side football team who played in a league run by Champion Soccer. Before the start of the latest season of this league, I contacted them to withdraw my team from the league because we did not have enough players to carry on. However, I have now received an invoice asking for £104 saying that we owe them a £25 registration fee and a £62 double match fee for not fulfilling a fixture. Upon contacting them again to query this and explaining that I had not signed the registration form at the end of the previous season to keep the team going, I was told that another member of my team had signed the form and had in effect "registered the team". On the form, there is a section saying something along the lines of the following: "I accept full responsibility to fulfill my teams fixtures until are team is replaced by another" Does this mean that the team is 100% committed to playing these fixtures and therefore, to pay the debt that Champion Soccer keep adding to? Thanks for any responses
  5. Hello I have seen this a few times on here but before I send my reply to this people I wanted some advice. Played for a 5 a side league for a few months but recently started to have to cancel games as didnt have enough players, the season finished and we quit the league but now I have a letter stating that I Owe £250 and if its not paid by Feb 5th they will make an application to Northampton county court to recover the fees and that "in addition my credit rating with be negatively affected". The games we couldnt play we informed them well in advance and on the application I have signed it only states about paying for all fixtures but no figures are mentioned or any fees for not playing a fixture, Do they have a leg to stand on or is this just a simpl threat to try and scare me into paying them? Thanks Owen
  6. hi. i've read the various threads on champion soccer threatening letters, including one where they did go through with their threat with county court judgement. however, in my case, i have not actually signed the application form, although it is otherwise all filled out including the 'print name' and 'date'. where do i stand with the £142 they insist that i owe them and the threat of court action?
  7. Hi, I don't want to be a pain, but I am going to reply to all the Champion Soccer threads on here, trying to find a solution! I have the said letter, and have spent the past 2 hours trying to find a solution to any of the threads, unfortunately, they all seem to stop dead, which doesn't really help me. Hopefully one thread will come up with an answer to how any other letter from the other posters were resolved? Cheers lobbo88
  8. Hi, There are a number of threads on the forum referring to champion soccer chasing debt for people who have quit five a-side leagues early and passing the responsibility for collecting this to Icon Collections, but none with any sort of real resolution or explanation of what happened with the issue. I've received letters identical to those described in other threads asking me for £300 for leaving a league before the end of the season, and I was wondering if the threats of court action are simply scare tactics or whether they are genuine. I would be very grateful if anyone who has a similar experience could let me know what the outcome was? Thanks in advance.
