Hi, Please can anyone give me advice on what to do. I was a sole trader and bought an ongoing business (sandwich bar & Coffee shop) in 2007. However in March 2013 i had to make the difficult decision to close the shop up and dissolve the business due to the recession and health issues. But I am still tied into a long lease. The agents representing the Landlord (Bournemouth University) are now hounding me for rent on the shop and the council are requesting continued payment for rates and Bournemouth Bid Levy, money i just do not have. I am now un employed and having to claim benefits. I own my home and pay a mortgage and I am terrified that the Landlord and council will try to get me to sell my home as this is where my assets are. I am aware that the landlord will do everything in their power to try to get me to pay rent, and im worried that because i have assets in my home, can they take my home away from me. I am prepared to go to court over this, I a not a criminal and did not wish this to happen, i tried everything to avoid going bust, but my losses in the business were getting worse and i could not continue to tade.. does anyone have any advice thanks Vince

Hi I wonder if you could please give me some advice. My son is currently renting a property in Portsmouth as he is studying at the university there. He has been signed off of his course due to a stress related illness and has a doctors certificate to cover this. He is now living at home with myself (his father) and his mother in Clacton as he cannot cope being on his own in Portsmouth. The problem that is he is still liable for the £350 monthly rental payment for the property in Portsmouth even though he is not physically living there. As he has been diagnosed with this illness could he make a claim for housing benefit to help with his rent payments. If he his eligible can you please let me know what are the next steps to take. Regards Kim

hi can someone please help me. I have gotten myself into a bit of trouble with my rent , I am in arrears of £1400, my monthly rent agreement is £470. So thats about 3 months rent i owe my landlord. First it was a hiccup with the housing benefit i recieve, i sent the form off without the landlords signiture by accident, so had to wait a further 2 weeks for that to settle. By the time it did, my landlord rang and i said i could put the money in his account the next day, however, that night, a family member passed away, so i had to pack up and travel to my familys town an hour away, then needed to help with a few funeral expences, then it all spiralled from there, within the 2 weeks i was away , bills , standing orders & direct debits all came out of my account around the same time, so the money i did have to give my landlord wasnt there anymore, i acknowlegde it was my own fault , i should have kept ontop of my finances before all this happned, but my head just wasnt in the right place at the time to deal with any of it. i did become a little depressed. I also have a 2 year old to consider. To top it all off , my father is my guarentaur, and the landlord has been on his case, i wouldnt mind, but my father is very funny when it comes to things like this, he has already had the biggest row at me over this, and i am scared to come clean that i just dont have the money. im too scared to tell anyone. more so that i would seem an unfit parent financially. I am usually good with money, but admit to letting things slide recently. iv considered getting a loan, but know i cant pay it back, so im at a lost end now. im too frightned to confront the situation with both my landlord and my father. could anyone give me any advice that could help me get out of this mess and make things right? thanks in advance
