  1. Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me please as I am at a loss. I purchased a phone from Mobile Phones Direct in March this year. When I received the phone it turned out that the tariff they were advertising was actually a 'cashback' deal and I would be paying double what I was expecting. In addition the camera leans on the phone is cracked. I reluctantly decided that the tariff issue was a 'lesson learned' but contacted them about the faulty phone. They requested that I sent them photos of the lens and the packaging the phone arrived in, which I sent by return. Since then I have had no response despite numerous emails asking them what they intended to do about the fault. Since then I have also started to notice that images are burning into the screen despite the use of a screensaver, since Mobile Phones Direct are not responding about the initial fault I doubt reporting the screen issue will do me any good. I also sent in my application for the cashback at the prescribed time but again, no response. I have just now tried contacting Vodafone to see if they can assist me but they are refusing to help as I didn't but insurance from Vodafone. I would have thought that, as Mobile Phones Direct sold Vodafone products, and I pay my bill directly to Vodafone that they would have some kind of responsibility to assist me? I am now left up the proverbial creek without a paddle, with it seems, no-one who can help me get a replacement phone or the money MPD owe me for the cashback
  2. I know I shouldnt laugh but you have to check out this guys users name.......... One computer user has become so disillusioned with Windows 10's spying features that he has been driven to using Linux Mint as his primary operating system. But Voat user CheesusCrust was curious to find out just how pervasive Microsoft's privacy invasion is. The results of his investigation are quite staggering. Using a router kitted out with DD-WRT, and a copy of Windows 10 Enterprise installed in a virtual machine on his Linux laptop, he started by disabling every single one of the tracking and telemetry features found in the operating system. Eight hours later, 4,000 connection attempts to 93 different IP addresses were logged, with most of these IPs addresses being linked to Microsoft. Explaining his setup on Voat, CheesusCrust said that he used a completely virgin installation of Windows 10 which had been used only to verify that the internet connection was working properly. Perl was then used to pull 8 hours of data from log files and push them into a MySQL database. Perl was also used to obtain route data for any connections. Presenting the results, CheesuCrust says: Here is the roughly 8-hour network traffic analysis of 5508 connection attempts of an unused, base install of Windows 10 Enterprise (NOTE: I did not remove any 192.168.1.x home network IP addresses from the analysis). Broken down, this works out to 3967 connection attempts to 51 different Microsoft IP addresses. You can see full tabulated results on Voat. With Microsoft facing unprecedented levels of criticism for its lack of transparency over spying components, these findings will serve only to add fuel to the fire. The fact that it was the Enterprise edition of Windows 10 that was used for testing is likely to raise further questions. Serious subject but that user name is a real cracker.
  3. Ladies & Gents... Have you heard the news? Mobile phones are now dangerous... (When did that change?) But no seriously. News from Samsung regarding their Note 7 Product; Selling over a million units already, the device is shaping up to be a catastrophe for Samsung. FAQS Below
  4. UK mobile networks look set to be forced to make it free to unlock phones at the end of customers' contracts, it was announced in The Budget. Currently, each major network offers different options to consumers who want their phone unlocked, with most charging for the privilege. Unlocking a phone allows customers to switch networks as they please. Following this week’s Budget, the government says that all mobile users should be able to have their handset unlocked at the end of their deal without paying. While it is hoping to get networks to sign up voluntarily, the government has promised to pass laws to force networks to comply if an agreement can’t be reached. http://www.uswitch.com/mobiles/news/2016/03/mobile-networks-set-to-be-forced-to-unlock-phones-for-free/?utm_campaign=insight&utm_content=160321&utm_medium=email&utm_source=uswitch&utm_term=mobiles-content-pod
  5. Extra costs of using a mobile phone in countries across the EU are to be scrapped, MEPs have agreed, after years of negotiations. The ban on data roaming charges from 15 June 2017 has received a final green light in the European Parliament. Roaming charges are added by mobile operators for calls, texts and internet browsing when phone users are abroad. An interim cap on charges will take effect from 30 April next year, prior to the full ban across the EU. That means telecoms operators will be able to add a surcharge of no more than: €0.05 (3.5p) extra per minute for calls €0.02 extra per SMS sent €0.05 extra per megabyte of data used The cap would make roaming within the EU 75% cheaper during the interim period, the European Commission has said. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-34646434
  6. Hi Guys, I accidentally dropped my iPhone 6 down the toilet about 2 months ago. The damn thing was in my top pocket and slipped out when i bent down to pick something up. Nightmare, as the toilet had bleach in it. I fished the phone out, gave it a very quick rinse, because of the bleach and towel dried it, then stuck it in some rice, as I've heard of people doing this. I called Protect your bubble to start the claim. I left it in there for a day then tried the phone. it was all over the place to start but then began to work properly and continued to do so for the next couple of days, so i cancelled the claim. last week, the phone died after i installed ios9. i took it to the apple store, who opened it up and said that the water damage had finished it off. I explained what happened and they said that they would never replace this phone because of the water damage and more importantly the bleach. I reopened the claim with PYB and sent the phone off to A Novo, who is their repair company. After a few days I called PYB to get an update. they said that the phone is still being repaired. I questioned this because of what Apple said. PYB said that their contract with A Novo was to repair the phone rather than replace and that the phone would be fine. that got me thinking, so I cold called A Novo to get their opinion. They said that they would never repair a water damaged phone, let alone one that had bleach in it. I mentioned PYB and they said that their contract with PYB is to repair 1st and only replace if the phone doesn't pass the 40 point check. They also said that their work is guaranteed for 180 days. Im still waiting for the phone back, which should be Tuesday, so my question is Where do I stand with the repair? My concern is that it may work now but as time goes on , the metallic parts will corrode and the phone may fail outside of the 180 days warranty many thanks EOS-5D
  7. When I took out my mobile phone contract with Vodafone 15 months ago I was automatically signed up to a months free insurance for £6.99 although I had to give my bank details. I decided to continue with the insurance after a month as I was conscious if anything went wrong a new i phone would be expensive. My phone suffered water damage so I put in a claim 2 weeks ago. I was asked to pay the £50 excess and send the phone for repair which cost another £7 for postage. I received the phone back after 5 days expecting it to be back to normal. The reality was that the phone was in exactly the same condition i.e. I was still unable to make or receive calls or texts. I called Citymain Administrators to explain what had happened to be told that I would have to send it back again so they could have another look at it. I am very annoyed as I feel that they are just trying to get out of replacing the phone. The initial process I was asked to follow although I was without a phone for a week was acceptable. This is now ridiculous as I have to spend another hour wiping the data off the phone (as requested by them) and then reloading it when the phone comes back. I have looked at the contract that was emailed to me when I had the first month and it is just a brief overview it says that you have to look on the reverse for the full details of the contract. Of course I cant do that as it's an email. This feels like just another example of a mobile phone company taking money off you for a service that is useless and very time consuming.
  8. LiGo advertise these online but when you enquire they say these phones are discontinued----so what's the point of their web page. Does anyone know where I can buy new One Tel phones or a reliable company who can refurbish my old ones??
  9. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/n...o-hang-up.html how is this going to effect those with current contracts with them? and also those who have mobile insurance with the company?
  10. 11. From the Benefits and Work Organization. BENEFITS NEWS It’s been revealed that you are five times more likely to have your benefits cut than you are to find long-term employment if you are forced onto the work programme. A shockingly small 48,000 work programme participants have been placed in jobs that lasted two years or more – just 3.2% of the total participants In the three years since the scheme started. But figures already released by the DWP show that in the 12 months up to October 2013, no fewer than 242,973 sanctions were handed down for alleged failure to participate in the work programme And to make it even harder for claimants to meet their commitments – and even easier to sanction them - the DWP is removing all the free telephones from Jobcentres. It’s a viciously cynical move which has aroused deep anger, but it’s going ahead anyway. Meanwhile, it has been revealed that Universal Jobmatch, the jobs site that claimants are forced to use, is so riddled with fake and fraudulent opportunities that the DWP is not planning to renew the contract with Monster to maintain it. Monster are currently demanding a fee of almost a million pounds to remove all the fraudulent ads. The site is just one example of failures in the DWPs partnership with the private sector which has led MPs on the public accounts committee to warn that the entire department is on the verge of meltdown.
  12. I sent my phone to these on 07/10/13 offered me £58.00 for my Blackberry and then changed it to £18.10 wear and tear.. Utter crap. I have rang, sent letters (recorded) So i think the best thing to do is a CCJ after reading other peoples comments. I know its going cost more than the phone but its the principle. I even logged it with Haringey Council and the online fraud team. I would suggest EVERYONE reports it to be honest so they can be shut down. I dont know how they can let them carry on trading
  13. Hi, I have had the displeasure of dealing with cash4phones, i was provisionally offered £206 for my iPhone 4s 64GB which at the time was £50 above the majority of other phone companies. I then sent my phone away and i was shocked to received any offer i believe was £72 at the time, my phone had general wear and tear with a year old phone and was fully functionally with the the back casing slightly loose so i was expected a lower figure. I then declined the offer and paid the return fee instantly. This was then followed up with a email complaint about the ridiculous offer they made and on the 24th October i received a response advising they had revised there offer and amended this to £150 & additional £8.95 refund of the return fee, i accepted this offer and was informed on the 28th October i wound receive the full payment within 72 working hours and im still waiting for the payment. I have contacted watchdog and have had no further response to a further 3 emails i have sent on the same email chain and i am really considering going to small claims court about this matter. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Regards Martin
  14. Hi I'm after some advice please. usual Story never received a payment from cash4phones. Did a money claim online and have since enforced a judgement. No response or payment but to issue a warrant is another £100! I have since found out I should have made the claim against C4P trading Ltd. Is there any point in me pursuing this any future and does anyone know if I can change the name to C4p Ltd or is it too late?
  15. Hi guys, I really need you help on this one, please take the time to read my story and sorry in advance for the long story.. This all started 6 years back when i visited one of the Phones 4 U store's in Birmingham. I was interested in purchasing a contract and as such had Phones 4 U to apply a credit check to my bank to find out whether i was eligible for a mobile contract. I NEVER purchased and neither did I agree to any contract or any sale of any products with the company. I was reassured and advised by the manager of Phones 4 U that my details would be cleared from their systems and i do not have to worry about having my details being stored. Stay with me guys...this is where it gets worse At that time i was studying away from home in Birmingham and had no idea what I was about to find out. A couple months later when I came back home back to Wales where I live for the holidays, checking through all my letters and bank statements I found out that i was being billed for a mobile contract with Orange. Straight away I realized that Phones 4 U had set up an account under my details illegally with Orange from that credit check. I contacted my bank and found out that a direct debit was set up which I obviously never signed or agreed to at any point and was billed for up to two months for the fraudulent set up of the line rental. I had the direct debit immediately cancelled and i contatced Phones 4 U in frsutration as Orange would not speak to me even though this account was set up fraudulently under my name.. So after my contact with Phones 4 U due to their useless customer services I went back to the store and confronted them and at first point they tried to ignore my dispute. The manager recognized me and such apologized for the problem and clearly confirmed it was their mistake and error in setting this account. they made several requests to Orange to have this account terminated and which they stated it was set up in error. I have all their internal email correspondence with orange where they have tried to have this account disconnected. the manager reassured me for the second time, on this occasion guaranteeing that my details have been fully corrected and that the account has been cancelled and I would be refunded for the charges unlawfully made to my bank. Never did that happen and soon with a busy life I started forgetting about the situation. Then a year later i was getting debt collectors visiting my house and letters from debt collection agencies (more than one company) who were apparently instructed by Orange to recover a debt of 70gbp which was allegedly outstanding for the account (which Phones 4 U promised me that it had been fully resolved). Very p***** off from that moment as now my details were being shared and passed around. Things got even worse as a couple of months later I started getting harassed by Arrow Global, Fredrickson International Limited and Bryan Carter and so many other associates of theirs and not forgetting the other 100 companies who have harassed me before them. I have made so many complaints to these company's and even tried contacting Phones 4 U again who were investigating the matter once more. Another year has passed and up to date I have wasted so much time and money trying to fix an error that is not my fault and a debt that i do not owe. I am going through so much because of these companies are doing anything to fully resolve this problem. Orange has made no attempt to respond back to my letters and Arrow Global are just plain stupid. I have written so many request to them to prove their claim by providing an orriginal true copy of the signed agreement of the account and the debt they believe is owed but they ignore all the laws they are breaking and continue their harassment. They have made my life even worse as they have also had a Default addded to my credit file and this has been affecting my financial status for the pas 6 years. I have tried contacting CISAS and even ICO to report this but they are just as useless and don't really seem to care. CISAS never replied and ICO told me to write a final letter to both Phones 4 U and Orange. its been almost another month and Orange have ignored my letter but Phones 4 U replied saying that they are not able to get in touch with Orange and are in the process of dealing with this matter. Phones 4 U are just pathetic with their resolution process the customer service is so bad i really cannot understand how these companies are allowed to stay in operation. This problem has been dragging now for almost 6 years, am now at a position where i am just lost with all hope and cannot deal with this any more. I am so stressed out and Orange still owe me a total of 72.34GBP of my money for the charges they made on 2 occasions illegally and I want to take all the 3 the companies to court for all the problems they have caused and sue them for every penny. :-x:-x Any help would be greatly appreciated guys and thanks in advance!
  16. I looked at the DWP report and accounts for 2010/11 and was astonished by what I found. As my username suggests I am in dispute with DWP and therefore I have had to try and phone the Carer's Allowance Unit at Palatine House many times. Because of my caring duties I usually have to phone after about 3.30 pm. My experience is completely opposite to the statistics listed in the PDCS Annual Report and Accounts 2010/11 targets (I have a difficulty with URLs on this site because I'm not allowed to post them yet ( Telephony Ensure that at least 93% of calls to our telephone service are answered first time. 94.2% Ensure that less than 1% of calls to our telephone service receive the engaged/busy tone 0.2% a) I nearly always get an engaged tone for many attempts b) if I do get through, it's often to a call centre who offer me a callback service. This callback has come once and that not at the arranged time. Obviously the targets in the Report and Accounts are for the whole service, but even so.... Or is it that some parts of DCS are so good at answering calls that it skews the figures (!) Anecdotal evidence welcome - I'm probably going to take my complaints against DWP to the Parliamentary Ombudsman so any weight to my cause would be very helpful.
  17. hi quick question took out a contract 4 days ago in store with p4u on orange but it still doesnt work when i got it home i set it all up dead excited like you do and threw any waste packaging or so i thought away when i try to call anyone it says the sim is not registered i have phoned orange but they have told me p4u should have registered it as orange themselves only register over the phone for themselves and car phone warehouse. i have been into phones 4 u and they rang trying to register but apparently the number of the sim is not connected with orange. in the beginning when the credit thing went though p4u had to call orange for authorisation and p4u were told they would be called back after 20 min. another member of the p4u team said dont wait just phone back again so they did and staright away was given a code for it to go through. what happens now and where do i stand on cancelling contract as not into being messed around. thanks any bit of help would be much appreciated
