  1. Has anyone experienced glitches in the functionality of these, whereby previous lists pre-populate new ones and the only solution is to log out and start again? Very difficult to explain to online help desk!
  2. I bought some made to measure window blinds from an online retailer. They make it clear they cannot be returned if the purchaser gives the wrong measurements, so I followed their measuring guide to the letter. When they arrived the blinds themselves fit perfectly, but the fixings that hold the blind do not fit the recess I have. These fixings or their size were not mentioned in the measuring guide or anywhere else on the site. I have asked for a refund but they say they can't be returned as the blinds are made to measure. I said I wasn't to know the fixings would be bigger and not fit, and they said I should have expected they be bigger in order to hold the blind. They have offered a discount on an alternative blind which would fit better, but no refund on the initial purchase. They also pointed out I'd ordered a similar blind before and so should have known about the fixings, but I didn't fit that blind myself, and the window it was for wasn't so shallow, so such an issue never arose and I've never even given it a thought. Obviously I wouldn't have bought blinds I know couldn't fit - what would be the point? Where do I stand, in terms of returns? Thanks.
  3. Hi All, This is my first time posting on here, thanks for taking the time to read my post, any advice is gratefully received. About 2 months ago, I bought some bath panels from an online shop as part of a project to renovate my bathroom. After my personal circumstances changed, I was no longer able to follow through on this project and made the decision to return the panels within the 30 day period stated on their website. I followed their returns process to the letter. 2 weeks later and several unanswered emails and calls later, there is no sign of a refund, despite a recorded receipt of the items. The items themselves are not an insignificant amount of money either at £155. With no response from the vendor, what options do I have at my disposal? Thanks
  4. Hi-a company has essentially not paid £300 of mine. I recently sent a final demand letter via tracked post and i can see that it was not sign for at the other end, it is actually being sent back to me. They are also not responding to emails although they were responding before. Can someone please tell me how i would go about suing the company. thanks!
  5. Any help appreciated **im looking at pursuing a claim for gambling undertaken on the Bet365 website on a casino game on their mobile site. I played the game and staked on their roulette game but then realised the game in question was faulty. I have brought this up with the company and after many email messages and only after me sending them video proof of the problem, they have recognised the fault but have blamed my mobile device as not being fully compatible. Strange as the device was new in November 2016 (Sony Xperia phone), running the latest version of Android. They offered to credit my account with a paltry amount, but have refused to refund full losses quoting some "small print" in their t&cs that they cannot be held responsible for faults with devices. T here are no warnings before you play the game that some decvices may not work or anything in the game to detect the device may not be compatible. Nothing on their website at all with any warnings. Any advice on what I should do and which law to claim has been broken, if I pursue in the small claims track? Thankyou for any consumer advice
  6. Bought car on evening of the 7th December. Car insured at dealership. Attempted to tax at dealership but website wouldn't allow. Drove car to gf's home and tried online unsuccessfully again a few times but thought must be a site issue. 8th left car parked and commuted to work. Tried website but still not able called DVLA number and attempted to pay online. Was told i would have fill out information at post office. Finished work after post office closed. Had leave gf's house early next day for 2 week holiday before Post office opened. Returned to UK on 24th late afternoon to find car clamped with local council enforcement insignia and clamping company information but no explanation of reason. All telephone numbers went to voice mail. Paid clamping fine through online service. Rang every number and organisation i could throughout night. No one could explain reason or remove clamp. Stuck alone in gf's house - she was with family on other side of country- No food, freezing and missed all family Xmas duties with my grandparents who are 90+ years old and whom i am a carer of due to no trains running. Car remained clamped until 29th! Took visit to Local county enforcement office and then long wait and conversation with Local Council to determine DVLA had issued clamp. 6 Weeks later received further fine from DVLA. Written long letter to explain situation, circumstances and overly distressing punishment for £30 tax i had on numerous occasions tried to pay. Fully expect to get generic letter saying it was my fault. If so intend on going to court or arbitration. Does anyone have any advice or experience of court process?
  7. Hi all, After transferring a private number plate off my old car and buying a new one, I waited till my V5C came for my new car. Goes online to try to transfer the private reg but comes up with error message "cannot transfer this number online". So use the online chat to speak to DVLA giving all the details and they say "vehicle does not meet the criteria for transferring number plate" and that this has been passed to the relevant department to see whether or not its possible.... Bizarre, so now having to wait a few weeks to learn the outcome...anybody had this before ?
  8. Thought it time I paid off and ditched my Vanquis card. Do not get me wrong it has been great with my credit profile. Had it for about three years, never missed a payment and have a Three Grand credit limit. So much for customer loyalty though, they point blank would not negotiate the APR, 59.9% So yesterday applied for a BarclayCard, eligibility checker stated 95% chance of being accepted. Went through the application, Digitally signed for it to come back as referred. Strange as 12 months ago did the same with Capital One and was instantly accepted with a two grand credit limit. Never missed any payment with any of my credit obligations for the last three years. Credit scores from the credit agencies mean SFA as each credit company have their own lending criteria. Now i know this is simply the automatic computer process wanting manual intervention from a human being. This was not an outright No and will be probably be accepted, But: What causes these referrals as a matter of interest??
  9. A while ago we had HMRC chasing us for a Tax Credit over-payment. We paid it in the end to get them off our backs but I still suspect there was a mistake made somewhere. I'm not looking for help on this one but I thought folks might like to know that there is an online SAR form on the HMRC website... https://www.gov.uk/guidance/hmrc-subject-access-request Here's the acknowledgement: Thank you for your email. We will process your Subject Access Request (SAR) as soon as we can. I should explain that under the terms of the Data Protection Act we have 40 calendar days to deal with this SAR. For further information on this please go to: www.hmrc.gov.uk/freedom/foi-01.htm If you have any further queries please write to: Freedom of Information Unit, 100 Parliament Street, London, SW1A 2BQ. I'll let you know how I get on.

    online scam

Hi there , just looking for a little info in regards to a recent claim i put in to santander and wondering what the outlook may be ? I joined an online REVSHARE business called " MY ADVERTISING PAYS " back in march 2015 , and this was the first program i had got involved in when i started network marketing online , i invested about 4-5 grand in this business over a period of about 18 months , the idea of this business was that for every credit pack i bought costing $50 i would receive $60 back , ( yes i was gullible and believed this) as it looked legit at the time , i had now managed to purchase 235 of these packs over a period of time , i was earning roughly $100 off this program , when it came to the time i wanted to withdraw , they then turned the option off , leaving thousands worldwide with mass losses , i contacted santander , and put a claim in that i didnt receive the service i had signed up for , and would like them to put a fraud claim in so i could claim the funds back , i used my visa debit card to do all these transactions , over the time period , they have since closed down " MY ADVERTISING PAYS" and reopened it as " THE ADVERT PLATFORM " and started doing the same again !! what are the chances of me getting any of the money back ?? ty in advance badboy09
  11. I gave a "friend" a note with my contact details which included address. He posted this online with comment along the lines I wantes sex with him. Not very nice, I'm sure you'll agree. But is it illegal?
  12. I recently ordered a bag from the store online and posted it back to them. I had ordered something similar a while ago from the same store online. Both items black backpacks and the same rubbish to be honest, but I think I may have sent the wrong one back. They have received my return from what my tracking number tells me, but they've not processed it yet. I was wondering what could happen or if they'll get me in trouble for this.
  13. I ordered 5 items from the online store called ChoiceFurniureSuperstore at the end of October and paid using PayPal. I then cancelled 3 of the items 2 days later and received acknowledgment of the cancellation. The 2 items I wanted have been delivered but after 23 days, including reminders from me, I have not received the refund (over £300) for the cancelled items. How long do I have to wait? Is there a legal limit to the length of time they can withhold my money? What's the next step if they continue to not pay?
  14. I was going to check on my insurance with Lifestyle Services Group [set up through Barclays account]. Firstly when I went onto Lifestyle Services Group login website it didn't recognize my login credentials, then when I wanted recover password [in case I forgot] it didn't know my login [e-mail] at all! Then when I attempted to recover account by providing bank sort code and account number - it claimed it never was set-up! [same account whole life] When I called them they can see that I had my old phone insured trough Barclays but no sign of new phone insurance. Only that I have had cancelled old phone insurance. In fact I had not cancelled insurance - only updated with new phone. But - well - Lifestyle Services Group can not say it is true. Called Barclays - they even say I couldn't have any free insurance on mobile handset because there was never any free insurance. In fact there was. I have set up this kind of insurance to my wife's phone and she have a written confirmation of the policy. She had policy for an old phone and recently [June 2013] on a new one - after updating phone details on the policy [she couldn't log in on the website neither]. When Barclay guy said I didn't have any policy - and there never was free, I got my wife on the phone, then I asked him about where hers policy is coming from and why this one was free? He didn't know - there was nothing on a system. Not information about policy nor there was any debit from account that would pay for some extended cover OR premium Barclays account Help.
  15. Hi All, I ordered 5 boxes of laminate flooring and a zigzag bar online, which were delivered by courier to my fathers address, as I work full time. Once I had paid for the items (via PayPal), I received an email with the delivery date and an invoice stating :- "It is very important to check your order for signs of damage before accepting your delivery. If you spot any damage or missing items, please accept the delivery and mark this on the delivery docket detailing what is damaged or missing and how many packs are missing or damaged. We can then replace these items quickly. Regrettably, we are only able to replace any damaged items that have been signed for as damaged.” “By signing for any delivered goods you are also confirming that you have received those goods in acceptable condition. Woodfloor Warehouse ltd can not accept responsibility for any goods damaged in transit that the customer has signed for unless signed as damaged.” I therefore asked my father to check the goods when they were delivered, and refuse to sign for them if any were damaged. The laminate flooring was delivered by UPS and each individual box was covered in flimsy foam underlay and taped with sellotape, as was the zigzag bar. My father checked each box and saw no damage to the covering, therefore assumed the laminate was fine, and signed that all was ok. When I got the flooring home and opened the boxes, I discovered that 3 of the 5 were severely damaged, and the zigzag bar crushed beyond use, and completely unusable. I have emailed the company requesting replacement of the 3 boxes and the zigzag bar. They told me to fill in a claim and send photos, which I did. The company then replied stating that because they were signed for, there is nothing they can do, but as a good gesture will would send 3 more boxes and zigzag bar, and charge at cost price if I paid again. I stated that the items were checked and no visible damage was found and the flimsy outer packaging was undamaged, therefore the goods must have been damaged prior to wrapping and delivery. They stated this was not possible, staff would lose their jobs, and they must have been damaged during delivery, and they would not replace or refund as they were not signed for as damaged. By stating the above, I feel like they have relinquished all responsibility for any damaged items they send out, and placed it either onto the delivery company or the customer. If I had unwrapped and signed as damaged upon delivery, the company would blame the courier and get their money back. As my father didn't unwrap all 5 boxes and inspect each of the 50 boards individually on delivery, the blame then falls on the customer. Either way they still get money for damaged goods. In my opinion, they have wrapped the already damaged flooring in flimsy covering, therefore hiding the damage from the courier and the customer, sent them out, and then covered themselves with the above statement. Does anyone know if they have legally covered themselves with the above (as it is apparently in their terms & conditions also), or do I have any rights for a refund/replacements ? Thanks in advance.
  16. Old Tawnyowl here with entrepreneurial adventure number 966. For various reasons,a small heart attack a while ago and i suppose slowly aging i had to change my life around. Could not do what i used to do.It hurts a little but just the way,i miss my life in the construction industry and the people and customers i met.To myself it was fun and looked forward to going to work each day for many hours. I find now after a few hours i have a little pain, probably due to the medication.Hospital and doctors says i am ok. At the time i did not go on the sick but struggled on after coming out of hospital, not one of my better ideas. Developed another small ailment that trapped nerves in my back and shoulder and had no choice but to go on the sick. Ended up at the medical centre for a assessment as many do.Being chirpy despite a little pain i received 0 point, fit to work. I wanted to work, many of us have that drive,it feels good to have a little money for lifes essentials. Such as food, warmth, heating, and perhaps if lucky a outing or two. My small business at the time was one of the top reviewed in the country, and no trickery could take place, things were checked carefully. Anyway after ending up at the job centre the week universal credit arrived in town i was accepted. Just did not seem to fit in,tried telling them about my ailments, not to avoid work but to find something that fitted to my new life.Say maybe 4 or five hours a day.I feel in all honesty i would be tricking employers applying for many jobs as i would be found out. Do you want to be a Kitchen Porter,a Taxi Driver,a Tram driver,Conductor. Nothing wrong with those jobs but knew i would not cope and maybe the medical for some would find me out. And my mind is funny ,i worry about what ifs.The idea of a weakened heart and moving the public about things like that. Hundreds were applying anyway, younger, fitter and correct for the jobs. I got along with the staff, not all of them but most. But just did not fit in it felt that way anyway. Nobody seemed to listen. Finally the greatest idea came, would you like to be a security guard perhaps,go on a course get a card. You felt obliged to apply for any job which is the way i suppose. If you do not all hell could descend on you. There is no doubt i felt intimidated and just walked out feeling absolutely useless. After enrolling. Excuse me sir would you not mind grappling with me i have a heart condition and please do not hit me with that bottle you have just nicked,my blood is a little thin, never mind chasing anyone thoughts were going round my head. I saw some sad things that people this day and age should not be going through. Phoned them up before the course and said i am off to take a chance. You cannot do that you need to see a adviser specially trained for self employment,a business plan and god knows what else.Fair enough for younger ones who have no experience and young but i am approaching 61 and have a little experience gained over 40 years. Which before i go on any longer i will have to mention my thoughts of a Basic Income for all. Many things will have to be ironed out but seems a idea fit for today, never mind the future. A idea whose time has come. A thread discussing this idea for those that like a good read perhaps with a few laughs. Not all is serious. http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?461005-Basic-Income-Guarantee-Do-You-Like-The-Idea-Any-Views-Have-Your-Say. Now where was i up to i have lost track. It was now a few years since the old heart decided to give me a shock and slowly had started propagating and collecting things over these years with a rough plan. To set up a online business and the odd car boot and sell a few things. Registered with the tax man and away i went.It had to work or else. Maybe a year now. I know perhaps this seems a little funny but here are my adventures in car booting for those that have not read it. http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?464368-Car-Boots-Dealers-Stories-People-i-meet-and-more-you-can-join-in.Your-story. Now this is what i am doing. You have to be pretty tough in business,so many ups and downs. My idea online is to probe away, looking for weaknesses in things i know about, like certain plants. And other things.Online and who is selling them and then try to get a market share. As big as possible with stock you have. And at a fair price with reasonable postage costs. It is funny if that is the word watching them watching me trying to outmaneuver me,Cockneys, and people from around the country wanting their share which is right.I know i am having a little effect. One line has now reached a,do not laugh, perhaps up to around 20 pound a week with much more potential next year. So obviously i am now probing elsewhere.trying things, trying to beat my competitors, checking things out, looking for weaknesses in my competitors as in my plant business. But with larger potential. Get perhaps 15 lines selling reasonable and you can see ,well in my lifestyle i will be like a contented cat. So this is where your expertise comes in for those selling online wherever. I know we do not like giving away places where things are selling well. But have you noticed some online sites weakening and people moving to other places. Things change so fast nowadays. Any tips for businesses who are just getting going, perhaps setting up your own website to cut costs a little. Where are the up and coming areas to try.The places to open a website and how.Not everyone knows and could save days making mistakes when time is so important. I have written so much now i do not know where i started from. Hope it makes a little sense. Bye for now. Tawnyowl.
  17. The consumer group Which? has criticised some of Britain’s biggest banks for failing to invest in security systems that would better protect their customers from fraudsters. Against a backdrop of booming bank fraud, Which? tested the UK’s 11 biggest banks and building societies and found that the security at five of them was still not good enough. Which? has called on the industry to make greater use of two-factor authentication at the login stage of online banking. This combines two identity checks – typically a password or pin plus a single-use pass code sent via a card reader or mobile phone. In its most recent test, carried out in August, Which? found that only five of the 11 banks had adopted such security checks to protect customers. https://www.theguardian.com/money/2016/oct/20/banks-online-security-is-failing-customers-says-which On-line Banking Security Rated http://www.which.co.uk/money/bank-accounts/guides/online-banking-security/online-banking-security-rated/
  18. Hi, My Mam purchased a shed online in July this year as a gift for me. It arrived with no problems with delivery or times on the requested date in August. The shed was stored for 2 weeks in my garage and spray treated 3 times as advised with wood preservative. Only when the shed was actually erected (by a professional firm) did the numerous faults and defects come to light. The wood used is way below standard and has multiple knots generating cracks and splits, these are also present in the supporting framework. There are numerous holes in the tongue and groove cladding whereby nails from manufacturing have split the wood. None of the panels supplied are free from defects, there has been numerous attempts to patch up the splits with glue which has now started running out and causing more problems. All in all it is an absolute disgrace. It is nowhere near any of the descriptions on the firms website and I am very annoyed and upset that they had the audacity to send a product unfit for even pallets. I have sent an email detailing the defects together with photographic evidence to the firm yesterday. I have not received an acknowledgement as yet although it is early days. However today I have noticed even more cracks and leaking glue all photographed. I am really furious now as it seems that even with my costly intervention this so called superior products will not survive the winter. Plus it was money paid by a pensioner who can ill afford it. I would just like to know what rights I have to get a refund either full or partial for my Mam, as it is totally impractical to repair or replace the shed now that it is in situe. Thanks in advance
  19. Hey guys and girls! This is my first post, so please be easy In November last year, I had some mechanical work carried out by a large franchise in Leicester and they 'damaged' my fuel pump. Upon collection, It was evident that they had damaged the fuel pump but weren't owning up. the morning after, I took it to a garage in Nottinghamshire which diagnosed it as 'incorrect installation' by the garage who worked on it. I paid for a brand new fuel pump etc and the garage in Nottinghamshire, provided me with a engineers report based on their findings and experience. I then took this document to the garage in Leicester who had worked on the vehicle, BUT they chucked it back in my face and said a few not so good words which worked me up a bit....... I then called my bank and did a charge back and provided the necessary documentation and they agreed and had then refunded me the labour which was paid to the first garage who damaged it. Just over 3weeks ago, the bank took the money back out and told me the first garage had challenged it etc etc so it went back. I then rang the garage and asked in a calm manner, what can be done to resolve this issue and was told, I would get a call by the end of the day but I didn't. A week later, I opened a case on moneyclaimonline and paid the relevant fees and submitted everything. Now today, I've received a letter saying, the defence have filed a counterclaim etc and is for the sum of my original case of £500. I've been really stressed out since I came home in the evening and don't know what to do. I've also thought about walking away from it now, but the letter states that it requires me to fill it in:( . There is also a letter about 'mediation' which I understand is a person who will be like a 'middle man' and will hear both sides before offering a resolution. I've even thought of walking away now and will happily let the garage keep my money etc and just take it as a lesson learnt, but what options do I really have? They filed a counter claim for £500 because 'damaging our reputation'. Surely, if their reputation was so important, they would have resolved it with myself before it got to this stage? Any help is most welcomed as I really am stressed:(
  20. Serious problems with my online savings account. I set up a post office online savings account 5 months ago because of the 1.20% interest rate. From day 1 it's been a nightmare. Firstly they have 2 options for depositing money. Direct debit or payment via a debit card. My first deposit was via direct debit and took 6 days to clear. My other deposits were made via debit card and they usually take 3 days to clear. It wasn't long back I needed to transfer some money from my savings account back to my main bank account. I entered my details and was met with an error..... "Transfer cannot be applied at this time". I tried multiple times a day for a week to transfer money yet had that error every single time. I looked at how to contact them and no phone number was given due to it being an "online only" account. I used the webform to contact them and after 10 days I still heard nothing back from them. In those 10 days I carried on trying to withdraw money multiple times again, yet still had that error. A few days ago I phoned the number which is meant for discussing non online savings accounts. Finally I got through to someone and explained the situation. They told me their system is updating so theres nothing they can do and that they would put me through to someone who's system wasn't updating. I waited for 15 mins and spoke to someone else. I explained my situation again to them and they said exactly the same thing... That they can't do anything as their system is also "updating". I put the phone down and opened a complaint with the post office yet haven't heard anything back yet. I have now done research online to find out a lot of people have that error and it's the post offices fault. If I had seen this before, I wouldn't have bothered to open the account. I just trusted the post office. A warning to all thinking of getting an online savings account with them. The interest rate may seem good but it takes ages for money to be transferred to them, customer service is useless and of course you can't even access your money when you want it due to th e "Transfer cannot be applied at this time" error message. Anyone else had the same experience with them?
  21. Hi there, good afternoon A quick question, we've just launched our online store and had our first teething problem! We sold an item but completely forgot that we left an automatic discount on the system to apply on all orders over a certain amount, the customer was obviously very happy with this discount applied! As this was an error on our side, do we have to honour this order with the discount? Many thanks
  22. My girlfriend bought some hair extensions online but the colour did not match. They were sent back and a replacement was issued. However this was unsuitable also. The retailer quite clearly states on their website that refunds cannot be offered only a credit note. As they have nothing suitable as a replacement where does that leave my girlfriend? The replacement item by the way is unopened. I called on the retailer in person but they refused to make a refund.
  23. Hi everyone! Sorry to be one of 'those' people who join in the hope of some free advice but I'm in a bit of a pickle and would really, really appreciate any advice. I'll try and keep it short, I promise. I have recently moved into a new house and as a result, my wife and I bought ourselves a new TV from AO.com. BIt cost £750. In short, it's rubbish - it's slow, it feels and looks cheap, and the optical output doesn't work which is a term which means to me: no sound out of our soundbar. I called AO this morning to arrange a return, and have been told they don't accept returns (despite this being plastered all over their website) unless the item is faulty, and that they will accept taking it back, but will only refund 55% of what I paid as it is now 'used'. Surely this is illegal? I have been advised to look at the Consumer Rights legislation, which I have done, and am awaiting a call back with some advice from Trading Standards but as you can imagine, we're ever so keen for any sort of additional help and someone suggested I come here and try. Thank you so much in advance!
  24. A new DWP website has been launched by the Pension Tracing Service to help people more easily and quickly locate their lost pension savings. There is currently an estimated £400 million in unclaimed pension savings. This is money people have previously saved for their retirement, and the new website will better help people to locate their hard-earned savings. The new DWP online Pension Tracing Service helps reunite people with their lost pensions, giving details of providers to help people track them down. Anyone who thinks they may be missing out on any savings can use the free online service at www.gov.uk/find-pension-contact-details. You can search for a workplace pension (a pension an employer has set up for you), a personal pension (a pension you have set up yourself), or a civil service, NHS, teacher or armed forces pension. If you're looking for a workplace pension, you'll be asked for your employer's name. If it's a personal pension, you'll need to enter the name of your pension provider. If it was an NHS, civil service, teaching or armed forces pension, you'll be given a link to contact the specific pension enquiry service directly. Once you've clicked on the relevant company or pension, you'll be provided with a name, address and possibly email or phone number for the administrator of the pension scheme you may have paid in to. You now need to write to or call the administrator to see if they can find your pension, and if so, how much it's worth. If you're writing, include as much useful information as you can – in particular your name, date of birth, the rough dates you believe you had the pension and your national insurance number.
