  3. Howdy! Entering a Token Payment Plan with StepChange as been avoiding creditors for long years now. Could someone tell me how to find old bank account numbers, old ref numbers to finish off my paperwork for TPP? I haven't kept any old letters etc, and I'd like to avoid ringing creditors at all costs. My credit report doesn't exactly show ref numbers. Is it actually crucial to find them anyway? StepChange said it would greatly help.
  4. Looking at my info it is obvious I can claim PPI from banks etc below but I do not have account numbers for everything. I have not moved house and I have a pretty good idea of when various mortgages started/stopped and same other loans etc. Is it worth adapting the SAR with relevant years?
  5. Hi all, Sorry for this but where is the appropriate sub-forum for BT complaints?
  6. Had a couple of numbers ringing me up but I don't answer as I do not recognise who they are from, could be a [problem], I mean they could leave a message but never do
  7. Hi All, Have spent about £40 today hanging on to talk to a hotel chain reception on a premium number. I've still not managed to speak with anyone. Can a service provider just leave you hanging on when you call these numbers? Thanks
  8. Cold callers hiding behind withheld numbers could be fined more than £2m in a new law to be announced today. From 16 May, all direct marketing companies registered in the UK will need to display their phone numbers when making unsolicited calls, even if they have call centres overseas. Companies can risk fines of up to £2 million from Ofcom and a further £500,000 from the ICO if they continue to bombard consumers with unwanted calls. The move will make it easier for people to decide whether to answer their phone and to make formal complaints if they are harassed. It will also help the regulator - the Information Commissioner's Office - to investigate those who break the rules by continuing to make nuisance calls. http://news.sky.com/story/1684141/fines-for-cold-callers-using-withheld-numbers Report it If you have received an unwanted sales call, please report it to the ICO. Although they cannot investigate all individual cases, reporting your concerns will help them take action in the future. https://ico.org.uk/concerns/marketing/report-telesales-calls/
  9. The Government has announced plans to put an end to anonymous phone calls from British companies in the UK or based overseas. Telemarketers will be forced to display a valid phone number when they make phone calls - or face heavy fines in a new crackdown on nuisance calls. The welcome change to the law means it will be a legal requirement for direct marketing callers to show a valid caller identity that shows up on phone displays when they call. The changes make it easier for people to report any company that makes unwanted calls. http://www.which.co.uk/news/2016/01/cold-calling-firms-forced-to-display-phone-numbers-429776/ How to stop the nuisance callers First, make sure you’re not handing your details away. If you don’t want to hand over your own phone number when filling in forms, use this one instead . You can complain about a cold caller to the ICO here . If the cold caller is from a claims management company, such as those calling about PPI, you can also complain here . Cold callers aren’t supposed to call you if you’ve signed up to the Telephone Preference Service .
  10. I have been a customer of Vodafone for many many years now, last year I decided to move my Vodafone contract number from contract when it came to the end of the contract to Vodafone PAYG, a simple task I thought, oh no, people could phone me and txt me but I couldn't reply, all I could do was use the data allowance, many times I contacted Vodafone and each time I was assured it would be fixed within 24 hours, it never was, so I decided to stop going around in circles and take out a new monthly contract as I had better luck with that. So here I am now with a PAYG that receives but cannot send and a new contract SIM with of course new number which I don't want, so I complete the online form to port the PAYG over to the new contract SIM, again I think this will be simple, many people each day do this, no it fails, the number leaves PAYG and enters some sort of black hole, never reaching the contract, a days go by and still no action, I am still on the new unwanted number, during this time it is my birthday, nobody can call me to wish me happy birthday , I contact customer services via the 'chat' I give up after ages being passed from one call centre person to the next, I get dizzy. A further 2 weeks go by, and still I don't have my old number back, I complete the online form again, this time I get an email saying the old number is no longer active Again I contact Vodafone via 'chat', again I passed around 4 times, before they give up this time and tell me to dial 191 as they have more access to the system than they do, so I do this, 36 minutes I am on the phone, I get passed around a bit, I lost count how many people I spoke to but it was a lot, I am told the 'back office' team messed up with the port and it will have to go back to them to sort out, it coule take 48 hours. I dont hold out much hope. Anybody else had nightmare times porting numbers over with Vodafone
  11. Hi, Do you know what these numbers mean on my credit file. I hope it is statue barred? The numbers for each year and month starting from January ( Mobile phone company ). 2009: 39 0 63 0 89 0 40 35 0 25 0 0 2010: 46 74 112 129 221 221 221 221 221 221 221 221 2011, 2012,2013, until Mach 2014 show £221 for each month then the information disappeared. I have the above printed on paper in 2014 just before it disappeared. I am sure I stopped paying in some point in the end of 2009 or 2010. Can you please look at the above numbers? Is it statue barred? In October 2014 The same debt appeared under DCA- showing £221 for each month since November 2014 to date.
  12. Hi, I wonder if someone could clarify the rules on the use of 0844 numbers for calling customer services? I thought the use of such numbers was outlawed in new rules that came about in June 2013 but I have been dealing with "Just Go Holidays" who tell me that the rules do not apply as tour operators are exempt. Just so I don't go making a fool of myself could someone briefly outline the facts? Many Thanks
  13. Recently changed my landline number with TalkTalk. Within days began getting calls from male person asking aggressively if I had been in an accident. Rather cleverly the number appears slightly different whenever they call. TalkTalk have said they only have a marketing list for internal employees to sell their products to customers and do not sell on numbers to 3rd parties. They have taken me off their marketing list, even though I had no knowledge of being opted in or asked to be. Have to say I am not totally convinced. Just wondered if anyone else has had this issue? Thanks.
  14. they should be closed down!!! by the regulators using indian call centres to ring on unavailable or withheld or untraceable international number then leaving an 0800 number to 'further' their UK business. truecall box does its job but 41 calls in 3months!!
  15. Does anyone recognise these numbers? 0161 813 1452 044 6475541 They keep ringing and as I won't communicate in anything other than writing I don't answer.
  16. I have an issue with Vodafone. I have a business account and at times had up to 20 different numbers with them. Over time this has been reduced and we sent emails to our account manager to cancel contracts and these were acknowledged and agreed. Like many people, we were pushed into going onto electronic invoices some time ago and they don't even send an email with the statements, you need to login and view them. And the system is cumbersome to use. We were doing a review in the last few days of the current numbers on the account due to a fraud on one number and in looking at bills (we had to request for Vodafone to send these to us), noticed several numbers that we had requested to be cancelled were still active. The first was agreed to be cancelled in September 2011 and we had an email from the Vodafone account manager acknowledging this was to be cancelled. It was not! They have continued charging £15 plus VAT a month for over 2 years. The second was to be cancelled in April 2012 and again, was acknowledged by the Vodafone account manager . They continued charging £35 plus VAT per month for the last 18 months. I spent a lot of time in the last few days going through old emails and communications to prove that we had cancelled the numbers and presented these to our account manager. Today she wrote back to say "I have looked at the emails you have sent over and spoken at length to our customer relations team, as a result we will offer a goodwill credit of £90 + VAT. Which is the equivalent to 6 months line rental, the reason for this amount is you also have a responsibility to check your invoices each month. I have requested the credit and it will be applied to your account in the next 2 working days." The same on the second number "The same as above with the credit being £210+VAT." Extraordinary. It is absolutely black and white that they agreed to cancel the numbers and did not. Yet they are attempting to turn this around onto us and say you should check your bills. Outrageous! We have been spending on average £1500 a month or more for many years and this is how loyalty is rewarded. Incredible. Also, it is not like we have had a lot for our money. We rarely if ever used our hardware fund etc. I am outraged at how we are being treated. Vodafone just don't give a damn and I read similar stories on here and other places so this is not an isolated incident. I don't know what we can do but I will be making all efforts to publicise how Vodafone have treated us. And of course looking to move all our business as Vodafone don't deserve it. RGW

  18. Hi Everyone, Just a quick query, I have sorted out my debts thanks to the amazing advice from this forum. One of these, Capquest has been in dispute for over 18 months, and have been quiet since. Now on Saturday, I got a phone call from them on my work phone (which is a shop), how they got hold of this number which no DCA's have I don't know but refused to go through security with them and told them it was an offence to ring a work number. If they ring back, i wanted to know what I can threaten them with, is it OFT? IF they persist I will send a letter but I want to quote the correct statement to them. Any idea's fellow Caggers?
  19. Hi Everyone! The builders who conducted my house renovation in 2010 cleared off without finishing it. I could never get them to return & they have since gone bankrupt. Clearly they have started up again under a different name I now have water ingress into my living room, destroying the oak floor. The waterproofing specialist who was involved with the job says it is due the builders not building the wall / floor interface correctly and possibly a leak in the DPM. Looking at the damage, he seems to make sense. As the builders are bankrupt I'm lead to believe the NHBC can help but I'm struggling to find a suitable contact number. I'd appreciate anyone's help / advice! Regards Pete
  20. Dear all I have 3 numbers with Orange, all of them on contract Number `A` - contract ends 09/11/12 Number `B` - contract ends april/2013 Number `C` bought recently on two years contract What I would like to do is: Terminate contract `A` keep the number and move it on to sim card with contract `B`(keep that contract) but I would like to keep number `B` and move it on to sim card with contract `C`(keep this contract) I don`t need number `C` it was bought recently so none of my friends know it. 21. Had a wee revelation yesterday when RBS were being sticky and saying that they couldnt trace my credit card accounts and they were looking for account numbers I found out that Amazon and Play, from whom I bought quite a bit of stuff in the past, allow you to view past orders going back to 2000 and on that they list the last 4 digits of the credit card number which should give additional information to provide when requesting a SAR
  22. Had 2 loans a few years ago with Lloyds but have forgot my account numbers. Is there any way I can request these?
