1. I have been contacted by a debt collecting company called Motor Mile Finance. I received a rather threatening letter from their solicitor called Neal Chatrath which I was not happy with. It was a carefully worded letter to cause maximum distress. From reading postings on this company, I realised the threats were hollow. I sent this solicitor Neal Chatrath a suitable response and placed the account into official dispute. This alleged debt is in reference to a payday loan taken out in 2009. On checking my credit file Motor Mile Finance have defaulted this account 1/12/2012. I have never taken out a payday loan. Today I received a response from a Mr Barry Ellarshaw saying this account has been placed on hold and to expect a response within 4 weeks. I am enclosing a copy of the first page of their complaints procedure enclosed with the letter from Barry Ellershaw for consideration
2. hi I recently decided to switch car insurance to save myself a few quid, wish I never bothered, I went with a company called Motor Quote Direct, ( Bedford Insurance, Wimbledon). After sending off proof of no claims, and driving license, all I keep getting is return letters saying they will cancel my policy for not providing documents, I have now resent copies to them using Special Delivery, costing me £6-22. thing is my temp cover runs out tomorrow, and they still not responded to my official complaint to them ( earlier in week). I guess my next step is the FOS ? anyone else had crap dealings with these cowboys ? (if you have lots of praise for these people , then fine, please go sing their praises in other posting. This is not what I want to hear in this posting, thank you) I want to hear if others have had similar dealings with these people, and how you dealt with them
3. Hi all. Under the terms of my contract I can return my vehicle to close after x amount of payments. I've already reached this milestone so wondered what the effects of voluntary terminating my agreement would have on my credit report. See I want to change my vehicle for something much more fuel efficient but part ex amount is ridiculously low the only option I appear to have is to return the vehicle. Any advise appreciated.
4. Hi , I took out vehicle finance back in 2005 with Mallard for £2000 . last payment due Nov 07. This was at a previous address and until recently , believed this to paid and gone several years ago. A few weeks ago I got a letter through the door (new address) from this company stating I still owe over £200 . I wrote back and said I didn't acknowledge this debt and pointed out this would statuate barred anyway as several years had passed. They came back to me stating I had been paying £5 a month through 2009/10 through a third party called 1st credit. ( and produced a break down of all my payments from 2005) I had a few debts at that time which I was using a debt management company to pay things of , I do recall £5 a month going out to 1st credit. Looking further at the paperwork mallard have supplied I have noticed they added fees of £224 on the very month the last payment was made . And it seems this is what they are chasing , apparently its a fee for making a late payment or payments previously in the contract. The other thing that confuses me is that the 1st credit payments dropped of the debt management plan so assume to be already paid. Any help with this would be very much appreciated. Thanks M
5. Both my husband and I have received today a formal letter of assignment from MMF from pounds til payday. I e never had a PTP loan ever and the one my husband had was settled in full after ptp took the money out of his account. What can I do about this? Thanks. :-/
6. How is failure to comply with the above mentioned sign penalised outside London. I know in London it's by a PCN issued by a local authority but what about outside London. Is it a motoring offence dealt with through penalty points and a FPN issued by the police?
7. Hi everyone, I desperately need some assistance please. I have just received a Count Court Claim from Optima Legal on Behalf of Motor Mile Finance UK. The debt is for a PDL from QuickQuid dating back to 2010. I think they have sold the debt to MMF who are now taking me to court. I tied to make a payment plan with QuickQuid at the time but they refused to play ball other than to offer a payment plan over three instalments which I could not afford. How do I proceed with MMF as I have very bad things about them
8. Hi everyone I really need some advice please bear with me as this may be long, My daughter has serious mental health issues she has never been in employment due to this and needs round the clock care! About a year ago the phone started constantly going I can not remember the company but they were collecting on behalf of Wonga! I told them to write all details to me as I couldn't get anything from My daughter about this! I also contacted wonga asking what this was about and why they are claiming to have loaned nearly £1000 to someone who has no income other than disability benefits and to try find out as much information as possible but have never received any reply! Everything went quiet and to be honest I forgot all about it until last week I found my daughter screaming down the phone in tears I took the phone and went into her call log and found 48 calls/ 9 texts from the company motor mile this was in the space of 4 days They had called her 10 times within 2 hours!!! I was absolutely furious so I emailed them to make a complaint telling them never to call her and to keep everything in writing! the next day they emailed me which I found quite threatening and I am so glad it never went to my daughter It said we are contacting you about a loan you had with Wonga we are now waiting on you phoning us to arrange a doorstep collection or we will make our own arrangements if you do not want this we recommend you pay us a lump sum today if we do not hear from you we will send someone to your home!! I replied telling them they have no rights to send anyone to my daughters home and to my horror they have just send me another email stating home appointment and they have said they have made an appointment and someone will be going to her home!! Please please tell me how I can stop this! I haven't told me daughter someone is going to the house yet as she would get in a complete state! I am going to bring her to stay with me for a few days and maybe speak to her support worker about this! I have kept a log of all calls made to her and texts and the emails! I have also set up her mobile only to accept calls from family/friends and her support worker etc! Any advice would be greatly appreciated I apologise for any spelling mistakes ect I hope you can understand what I am asking! Thankyou
9. Hi All, I really hope you can help me. I've been repaying my payday loans over the last 18 months and I am almost there except 1 now (hurrah! ). I had 2 debts with Motor Mile Finance which are both now zero balances, and dispite reading loads of posts here they have always replied to my emails, until now that is. I was speaking to someone called Amir, would literally get replies within minutes sometimes. As soon as I paid the balanes I have had nothing. So on my credit file it only showed 1 of the debts from MMF, not the other. I paid the one on my credit file first for obvious reasons then a week later cleared the other one. 3 days after I cleared the other one, MMF then put that debt onto my credit file as outstanding. They also left the other debt outstanding. Neither are outstanding. I have constantly emailed them, they are ignoring all my messages and ive had no reply. Can you give me some advise on what I can do now please? I would like to complain but how and to who? Thanks everyone, you have helped me get into the position where I am now with only 1 PDL outstanding!
10. introducing myself, swiftcover online car insurance accepted £56 deposit for cover agreeing to a policy price of £196 subject to No Claim Discount, two weeks in swiftcover rejected my NCD evidence on the grounds my previous NCD was from a camper van... then hiking the policy cost to over £554 needless to say i cancelled the policy and the Direct Debit and gained insurance including my camper van insurance NCD another less blood sucking insurance company but in the meantime swizz-cover tried to extort more money by demanding i pay a further £65 policy cost & threatening an additional 'policy change charge' of £35 on top. so on returning the unopened letter from swiftcover i marked 'no contract return to sender', they have texted & emailed me notifications they intend to deploy debt collectors on my sorry ass which i will deal with but it is hard when these corporate debts are solely manufactured to fleece & extort as much as they can out of us even if it means moving the goal post in the contract. thanks peace
11. hi just got this by email Your file has now been passed to the Home Visit Department and a Doorstep Collection Agent will shortly be instructed to attend your property. The default will be registered with all 3 credit reference agencies in our month end report. If you wish to prevent this registration, contact us to accept one of the following offers: - Payment of the debt over monthly instalments. - A substantially discounted payment in full and final settlement of the debt. Contact us NOW before it is TOO LATE: 0113 887 3869. If we do not hear from you the default will be registered at Experian, Equifax and CallCredit and this will make it difficult for you to obtain credit now and for 6 years. Yours faithfully, Doorstep Collections Dept" MotorMile Finance UK Ltd. Not bothered by doorstep visit threat as if they dont go away when asked they can talk to Sam and Fynn who are literally barking mad but I thought the default date if there is one is from the origional default not when the groundfeeders buy alleged debt otherwise a "default" could never clear your file as it could simply be passsed around from bottom feeder to bottom feeder resetting the clock each time?
12. I have just had an alert on my credit expert to say that a default has been added to my file, I am so mad I have a great credit and I have no idea what to do, I checked it last week and It was not on here. I have never had dealings with this company and they have today added a default It states added on 14.05.2014 date of default 22.08.2008 for £250.00 nothing else , any suggestions

When i have spoken to them I have advised them I paid the fine I was sent back in sept 2007 they have now said i had been instructed to pay £45 a month until the £135 i owed was paid. They said they had sent letters ? but i have never received any letters . I have told them I did then and still do now drive a company car and i would never ignore a motor fine as its more than my job is worth . The debt has now been passed to a group called Marstons who will not discuss the case with me just want the payment plus charges of £75 I have never owed any one in my life and to suddenly start to recieve letters from such an awful company has left me mortified I have called Marstons and asked if i can pay the £90 but I am unable to pay the cost of £75 and they have advised me I cant just pay the £90 please HELP ????
14. Hi, first post, so go easy . To cut a long story short I bought a car from a trader. I found out afterwards it had had some crash damage. He's partially repaired it (he accidentally left receipts to that effect in the paperwork) but left about 3 grand's work of further work (that was out of sight, so I guess he thought he could get away with it) not done. Once discovered (about a week after bought the car) I called him and confronted him. He flat out refused to do anything and suggested I take him to court. I've written a letter before action and will start proceedings ASAP. What I'm hoping you can help me with is to decide what to do with the car in the meantime. I obviously bought it because I needed it, but I've not been able to use it since we discovered the problems (the garage we took it to said it was potentially dangerous) and so it's just sitting there. I don't even really want a refund as that means this toerag will take the car back and sell it to some other poor sap. What I'd like is for him to pay for the repairs. Presuming that he doesn't have a change of heart before the date on the letter before action passes, should I pay for repairs myself and ask the court to make him pay the bill, or will this potentially prejudice my case? I just don't want to be further weeks without transport if I can avoid it, but equally I don't want to shell out thousands to repair the car and have the judge either make me give back a repaired car to the dealer, or tell me to go away since I've repaired the car already. Help!
15. Hi, I'm new here and so apologies if this has been asked before. I have searched the forums for info on Motormile but have a few questions that I couldn't find exact answers to. Any help will be appreciated. recieved an email informing me that they have purchased a debt and I now owe them the outstanding balance. I actually don't have any problem with that. I do owe it and if I can work out a payment plan then I'll pay it. Questions I have though are this: 1) How likely are they to visit my 'home' address? From there website I can see that the closest doorstep office they have is around 70-80 miles from the address they are likely to have. I live abroad so I don't have any worries about them turning up but it's possible they have my parents address on file. Although the most recent address they should hold is somewhere else. Are they likely to visit 'older' addresses? And travel 80 miles hoping I will be in? 2) Does anyone have a working email address for MMF? Seeing as I am normally out of the UK I can't phone, have no postal address here and I need to email them to offer a payment plan. Or at least seeing if I can get a reduction and then pay the balance..... Thanks.
16. Hello, hoping someone can offer some advice on this? To cut a long story short, I purchased a used vehicle from a trader, and thereafter encountered numerous problems with both the vehicle and the trader themselves. The final problem that ended our relationship (I loved the car!), was what appeared to be an oil leak, but ended up being a cracked engine block that had recently been bodged, which then rendered the car unuseable unless a new engine was fitted! Throughout the various problems & complaints, the trader would not speak to me by telephone, nor answer emails, and eventually stopped replying to written correspondence, despite Trading Standards being involved. Trading standards were the people who eventually advised me before filing a court claim against the trader, and I was one of many witnesses for their case against the trader. My case has now been allocated to fast track, as I assume it's because it's possibly a complex case I've managed to avoid the enormous costs of involving a solicitor so far, but I'm wondering whether that would be the sensible option now. I've just had an email form the trader (that's the only way I've been in contact with him recently, as then I have conversations in black & white), which I've copied below: I don't think the big issue here is the cracked head i think it is the fact that you are claiming for the loss on the vehicle having decided yourself to simply sell it without even rejecting it formally with our selves. I see this element of your claim to be unreasonable. I am happy to come to a settlement on the cost of the warranty and your expenses relating to mechanical works you've expended but feel that claiming for losses from simply selling the car without formally notifying us is the issue. You may want to consider this as a route to settlement. As he stopped responding to any correspondence when I was trying to get answers about warranty cover & what to do regarding the related problems, is there any way I can get around this, ie. if he was dismissing/ignoring correspondence, would the court agree with him that I should have formally rejected the car in writing?
17. Hi, i'm doing this on behalf of my husband 3 years ago he brought a motorbike on finance through close motor finance. he also took out the GAP insurance about a month later, which would be an extra payment at the end. He paid every payment on time by direct debit, October last year he made the last payment for the bike and cancelled the direct debit. He then receives a couple of phone calls and a letter infoming him he hadn't paid the last payment for the GAP insurance. He told them he didn't have enough money to cover it and offered slightly smaller payments which they refused. Two days ago he receives a letter from the saying " You are no longer in possession of the goods with our consent and we demand the return of our property forthwith." Can they do this I was under the impression he had paid for the bike so it was his and they couldn't take it, its only the GAP insurance he forgot to pay. Any help would be appericated as he is really worried he could lose his bike. Thank you
18. Posting here as I am actually surprised this dealer has only been mentioned (on various other review sites and forums) a few times. I bought a car from this dealership and took delivery of it last Friday. I was constantly chasing the sales man for updates and I was left to try and arrange the handover myself. All started with a cherished transfer, the vehicle was going through a plate change when I bought it, so it couldn't be taxed. I accepted this as procedure and got on with it. I still had a car and really wanted this one, so sometimes you have to be patient. It was me however asking for updates everyday on if the V5 had arrived. All the sales man was interested in was ensuring the finance was in place (which it was) and making me run around other dealers because he wanted to do the deal through this one. All in all, I got on with it. Then I looked at the finance papers (mum took the finance out and signed whilst I was at work) I had been charged for a plate transfer £30 although it was them who decided to do the transfer, it was already being processed when I bought the vehicle, so how should I have been left with that? Also the full cost after interest for finance seemed to have bounced up by over £600. The finance was in place, the deal was done, I should have went with my mum to sign the papers. Sort of my fault, so I let it slide. Took delivery of my new car on the 7th of February. No real handover and found out that they had failed to mention the heavily pitted discs whilst they were telling me about the car. Once again I let it slide. I work in the motor trade myself and didn't feel the need to start splitting hairs when I could replace the discs myself. Everything was fine, I was enjoying my car, got a follow up call from my sales man, who up to this point I thought was fantastic and I didn't have any real issue with, fair enough he'd failed to mention a few things, charged me for things I didn't agree to, but hey, he needs to earn a crust as well. Then the problems started. 1 week (14th of February) I am driving home from work (I cover about 50 miles a day, easily) and my battery warning light went on, the car struggled to start, but did. The light went off briefly until I braked and then came back on, bringing on my ESP (electronic stability program) and ABS (anti-lock braking system) light as well and completely removing my power steering. My steering was so heavy I didn't even want to attempt to turn. Then the lights went off, whilst driving in heavy down pour and snow at 6.30pm. I done the clever thing, hit the hazards, braked slowly, eased into a bus lane and killed the ignition. My car would not turn over. Straight on the phone to Greenflag recovery who helped me, ensured I was in a safe place and within 5 minutes of coming off the phone, I received a call from 911 recovery telling me an ETA of when he'd be there his name and once again ensuring I was ok. 15 minutes later a lovely technician has me in his recovery truck, warm with a cup of tea whilst he is out battling the elements to get my car running again. He did get my car running again and advised me someone had put a cable tie around the cables for the multiplug which connects to my alternator and caused tension on it which had caused the connection to become loose and therefore my alternator wasn't getting charged. He rectified it and told me it should be fine for a few days but to get it to a garage as soon as possible. Off I go driving happily thinking I'd just get it checked over at work (I work for a multi-franchise dealer, with multiple sites around the UK) and not bother Parks with something so trivial. Then I received a call during the night and had to attend an emergency about 40 miles away from my home. I jump in the car, it starts and off I go. I sort the emergency out and on my way to a friends house to drop her off, my lights turn off, my battery warning light comes on, my steering dies and I am on an extremely busy road with a car that is struggling to move. I hit the hazards and stop. Two young men and a friend helped me push the car into the side of the road and I once again call Greenflag. It is 4am in the morning. 1 degree outside and snowing and I am sitting waiting on recovery when my hazard warning lights cut out as well. The police came and checked I was ok as they'd seen the car parked up and advised me to lock my doors, stay in the vehicle and to call them if the recovery had not arrived by 5am. At this point I am starting to think maybe I have been to easy on Parks. M8 recovery arrive just before 5am, get to work and tell me that my car is going no where as the alternator is "gubbed" he even showed me that the only way to start it is to apply a direct power supply to the vehicle using a boost pack, then boom as soon as it is off - car dies, again. So he takes us to my friends house and tells me to get in touch with the dealer. Called Parks in Coatbridge and spoke to the sales man at 9am. He sympathised, asked where I was and asked me to get the car in to them as soon as possible. I said I would, no problem, I mean I have only had the car 8 days so I want it fixed, however as it is 50 miles from my house, I needed a courtesy car. No problem, service would call me. That is when it all went wrong. First off, an hour and a half later, I called back and asked for the service department to be put through to Michael who advised me in a rather tone that he had my paper work there and he was just getting round to calling me. I had called him, he didn't get round to doing anything. I explained the situation, that I was getting the car recovered and I needed a courtesy car. I even said, "sorry if I sound stressed, I work in the industry, I do your job and I know it isn't easy." His reply is, "ok it will be £10 a day for the courtesy car." I quite simply reiterated I had just gotten the car a week ago, I was getting it recovered to them as advised by the gentleman who sold me it to the Coatbridge dealership and not the one closest to my home as he said it had to go there and maybe he should speak to him as the only reason I needed a courtesy car was due to this and I felt that after paying £5000 for a car I shouldn't really be asked to pay £10 (if I wasn't in the trade I wouldn't know that it is for THEIR insurance and they are yet to tell me that. I have my own insurance where I am covered fully comp to drive ANY vehicle. I didn't need to pay theirs) but as his attitude was stuffy I decided I would see if he made me the offer. He didn't so I asked him if he would speak to the sales man. 10 minutes later he calls me back and says, "I have spoken to the general manager and you are paying £10 or not getting a courtesy car" still he hasn't advised me why I have to pay this so I ask and he tells me it is because, "I am only a trade and save customer and I should know better because I claim to work in the industry" Well I think at that point I snapped. I asked to speak to the general manager because I was appalled that as I didn't purchase a brand new 13k car I wasn't really a customer. He told me, "fine then, but he will tell you the same and he's on the phone so what do you want to do." Naturally I said I'd hold for him. I waited 10 minutes and as soon as the call went through I was cut off. I called back immediately and spoke to a very helpful young lady who put me straight through to the General Manager. His attitude was terrible from the offset, answered the phone with "what?" I introduced myself and I had to ask for his name and who he was. "Gary Andrews, General Manager, what is it?" Wait, this is a manager?! Ok. Being fair, I remained calm and tried to explain exactly what had happened, incase he hadn't been giving any background and quite abruptly, he cut in and said "look lippy cut to the chase" I was astonished and said "what?" to which he replied "you have been told you aren't getting a car unless you pay £10 deal with it. You don't pay, you don't get and because someone said no to you, you are threatening my staff." I don't recall threatening anyone, unless asking to speak to a manager is now condoned as a threat. I reiterated exactly why I asked to speak to a manager, because I was a trade and save customer I wasn't deemed worthy to customer service it seemed and whether my car cost £5000 or £50000 I don't think that should matter. Once again he slammed me saying I should be more understanding working in the trade, or claiming to anyway. I was astonished that once again my employment was being questioned. He then started babbling on about how anyone who got a car from them including his dad had to pay £10 plus vat, PLUS VAT?! that wasn't mentioned before! or they didn't get a car, end of and I could like it or lump it and anyway the car was working when they sold me it. Well of course it was, it is why I bought it, however now it wasn't and as per my agreement I had a 1 month warranty from date of purchase. I mentioned this and he said and this is a direct quote, "look you have a 30 day warranty, but I don't know if I am going to fix your car, ok? I need to diagnose it and then decide if I am going to cause it might not be covered anyway." That was the final straw and I told him I would take my car to the local Parks in my area, as then I wouldn't need a courtesy car and he said, "aye do that, I don't know why you are bothering us and bringing it here anyway". Really!? You sold me the car, the sales man has told me to have it recovered to you, that is why you idiot! I said, ok that is fine. Then he reiterated that he would get them to diagnose it, send him a cost for repair and decide if he was going to pay for it. I told him that if he didn't repair the vehicle, it would be left on the premises, the finance would be cancelled and I would refuse the vehicle, which I am well within my rights to do. He then told me I was a silly little girl who seemed to like to make threats and I had some mouth on me speaking to him like that. It was clear this man thought intimidating me and calling me names was going to win me over, however as I like to rise above these things, I just assured him that if the vehicle was not fixed that subject to terms of my agreement, I would refuse the vehicle and ended the call. I called Parks Irvine to advise them my car would be arriving and it was like from night to day. They were so helpful and told me they'd be more than happy to help, without even asking for a courtesy car, they advised me that they didn't have any alternative transport at the moment, but depending on how long they had the vehicle they may be able to sort something! Was this the same company? So 911 recovery (again) came and took my car 50 miles to my nearest Parks dealer and the young man I spoke to on arrival was so pleasant and sympathised and couldn't believe how I had been treated at Parks Coatbridge. Naturally I was upset and fearful of what might happen next with the saga, but he put my mind at ease and spoke to the onsite manager to advise me of what I could do next. So now I play the waiting game of finding out when my vehicle is going to be ready and if they are going to cover the cost of the repair. In the meantime I have sent a complaint to head office regarding both Michael and Gary and their terrible attitude. Parks coatbridge, where the value and age of your car determines the level of customer service and attitude from staff you get. I will never go back near them now and all the little things I let slide, well it seems being nice to them has done nothing but cost me more and leave me car-less, stranded, endangered and down right p****d off.
19. hi, im doing this on behalf of my husband 3 years ago he brought a motorbike on finance through close motor finance. My husband made every payment on time via direct debt, the final payment was October 2013. once this had been taken my husband cancelled the direct debit. November comes and he gets a call from close asking where there money was, he had taken GAP insurance which was meant to be paid but he had forgotten about it. We didn't have the £200 they were after so he asked about making smaller payments which they refused. they said if it wasn't paid by Christmas they would pass it to the next department. Yesterdy my husband receives a letter "notice of termination" saying " you are no longer in possession of the goods with our consent and we demand the return of our property forthwith" I would like to know if they can do this, he paid every payment for the finance, its only the gap insurance he didn't pay. I was under the impression the bike was his now. Would really love some help, my husband is worried he may lose his bike which he needs to get to work. Thank you
20. Hi, I had a Payday loan with Wage Day Advance which was sold to MMF about a month ago. Since then it has been nothing but non-stop harassment from them, I get around five to six forms of contact per day, either by email, text or phone call to both mobile and landlines. This even started prior to receiving a formal letter from Wage Day Advance stating they hold sold the account on! They are constantly threatening a home visit from one of their officers, each day I receive some form of contact detailing this. I have both written and emailed MMF enclosing the standard formal letters for telephone harassment. I also enclosed one for disputing the amount owed as it is incorrect. To date these letters have been ignored. Yesterday my wife received a phone call at home from MMF saying they were sending round an officer to our house. This was quite distressful for her to say the least. So I phoned MMF to find out what was going on as I had really had enough. I was advised that all contact numbers would be deleted and details of the account sent in the post. This morning I received ANOTHER email requesting that I phone them to make a form appointment for one of their agents to visit my property. If ignored they would just turn up at my home, they also stated they would be adding further interest and costs to the account. I appreciate it was foolish to dabble in a Pay Day loan to start with, but unfortunately my circumstances left me no choice, as it does for a lot of people out there. I really am struggling with this one now, any advice would be greatly appreciated. Not sure whether I should just take this to the Ombudsman now? Many thanks.
21. I have been involved in a couple of motoring incidents where I have not been at fault and one where I have. I also have one speeding ticket. I am unsure of the dates and details of these incidents and would like to know if there is a way of finding out the official details that the insurance companies use to see if I have declared everything. As I renew my motor insurance I am unsure of specific dates etc and am worried that if I was ever to claim then I would find that my cover in invalid. In a nut shell… where can I find out all my motor incident and conviction details. Hope you can help Owen

23. Hi there, My R reg car was recently scrapped after suffering a mechanical fault which was not cost effective to repair. After recovering my outstanding tax, I made enquiries with my insurer to cancel the policy. However, I was informed that an option would be to continue the existing policy with a refund on my next car insurance policy - provided I took out a new policy on a new vehicle with the same insurer in the 'near future'. Note that my insurance policy was valid until May. I suggested the insurer send me additional information and higlighted that I still might wish to cancel the policy as the insurer could provide no guarantees that the premium quoted for an insurance policy with a new vehicle would be lower than other insurers' premiums. Therefore the saving might prove counter productive in the long run. My insurer also mentioned that should I cancel my insurance and fail to purchase a new car in the near future, this would invalidate my no claims discount protection which has built up over six years. The insurer took my details and 'promised' to email me the additional information. However, I've yet to receive a response. With the incomplete information and cancellation fee of £80 and possibility of my NCD policy being reset due to inactivity, i'm unsure which action to take. If anyone could please offer general advice or advise on the period of driver activity required to reset the no claims discount protection, I'd be grateful. I'm yet to purchase a new car, still haven't cancelled the existing policy, which runs until May and am still waiting for the insurer to provide additional information two week's later. Hope you can help. Many thanks...
24. A new system that will allow insurers to access DVLA data on drivers' convictions and penalty points will be tested from February. The insurance industry says the move will cut the amount of fraud seen under the current system of driver declaration. Up to 23% of motorists failed to accurately disclose their record to insurers, it has claimed. Drivers will want to ensure that the new system will lead to lower premiums. Costs The scheme is known as MyLicence and has been developed by the Association of British Insurers (ABI), the Motor Insurers' Bureau, the DVLA and the Department for Transport. Insurers will be able to access information to cross-check any points and convictions at the application stage and price the premium accordingly. The ABI said that 23% of motorists made incorrect disclosures. This could make insurance invalid, it said. It argued that the fraud, and complex claims that were subsequently generated, increased premiums for honest drivers, so the new scheme should cut costs. About 7% of inaccurate declarations came from drivers who declared spent convictions or points, so they could also see premiums fall under the new regime. The MyLicence project will be tested from February and then begin in full during the second quarter of 2014. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-25016515
25. On 27 February this year I booked a test drive of a VW Beetle Cab at Preston Motor Parks. My health was very bad which I thought was as a result of a cold. I was unhappy with the deal they were offering. Unfortunately, I paid £100 deposit. The next day my health deteriorated and it was pneumonia. I e-mailed Preston Motor Parks and told them I wanted to cancel the car. I asked for my£100 deposit to be returned to me. They refused to reply to any of my e-mails even after threats of the small court. The paperwork given to me does not even have my personal details such as address, etc. I thought this would be a simple matter but I now know the world of cars is a minefield. Can I get my money back? Any help would be much appreciated Regards ladycoke
