My mother died in May of last year, she has left a property to me and my sister. There was no will. I was living with my mum and have decided to stay in the property, but I needed a mortgage to pay my sister her half. My mum had taken out a homeowner loan (endowment) which matured after 10 years in September 2014, but the Royal Bank of Scotland have not been in contact with Aviva for the money yet. Now my conveyancing solicitor is telling me he needs the deeds to change the property into my name, but my probate solicitor is telling me he shouldn't need the deeds at all. Which makes me wonder if he's taking me for a fool as I'm a 25 year old single girl with no parents to tell me he's wrong!! The conveyancing solicitor is telling me he can't get hold of the deeds and is according to him sending out letters - which is costing me money. When surely its easier to pick up a phone. Me and my sister have done some ringing round and we found out in the same day the RBS do not have these deeds. There is plenty more to my story, but I was just wondering if any body out there knows if he indeed needs these deeds to transfer to me or not? And if the fact my mum had a homeonwer loan has anything to do with it or not? Thank you Hannah:wink:

Hi everyone, i really could do with all your help with this. My mother received a letter(oct 2014) from Provident stating they have sold her account to Lowell. In the letter sent by Provident it says: The total balance sold was £XXXX.XX. The individual agreements included in your account are detailed on the enclosed letter from Lowell(6 loan agreements listed). My mother has a letter from Lowell saying it's formal notice of the account being sold and assigned to Lowell.(i'm assuming this letter is the one the Provident letter refers to). The 6 loan agreements listed all have an agreement date along side, each date is in 2010. My mother has tried to pay the Provident a number of times via doorstep collections but whenever my mother couldn't pay, the collector got a bit narky and wouldn't return to collect any more payments. My mother would call them asking when will they be collecting her payment. Finally the doorstep collections stopped and now Lowell have bought the debt. My mom want's to pay so i'd really appreciate your help in sorting this out for her. I don't know what to do, any suggestions. thank you

So i got caught today with my mothers discounted oyster card. The inspector made me pay the bus fare and then took the oyster card from me. I confessed it belonged to my Mother after some interrogation. She didn't take my address or name so i asked what would happen to the oyster card and she said they would send a letter to her house. What does this mean? My Mother phoned TFL and told them she lost it on my advise so they blocked it now. Have i gotten her in trouble or have i gotten away with a slap on the wrist? I've been worried sick all day and i definitely won't be using it again. I'm a cash strapped student so i wanted to save on my costs.
