  1. I came home to a letter from Moneyclaimonline today, the instigator being Moriarty Law on behalf of Utility Warehouse. They contacted me about a year ago for a debt they claimed I owed in 2014, during the phone call I asked them to provide me with proof of the debt which was never supplied plus this does not show up on my credit file with Experian to date (I checked today). How this happened, if relevant is I needed an EPC for my home, the surveyor pressured me into consolidating my utility bills which I wasn't keen on but they kept telling me I was under no obligation and could always say no at the end.... which I did. convinced me to take out the gas / elec / internet / phone but when my mobile came in the redemption fee put me out of pocket and UW wouldn't cover it so I had a huge mess but managed to sort it out. After this I lost faith in the UW and requested to cancel the service with them, they were awkward to I went straight to my old utilities who transfered the services back. I wasn't aware of any outstanding debt, I believed my old company had figured this out. So I'm concerned I have a small claim's court form to complete, potential damage to my credit file but no default on my account to date. Any advice please?
  2. Hi, This is my first time on this forum, so please excuse me if i've posted in the wrong forum. I received a letter from Moriarty Law today(attached) claiming that they are acting on behalf of Utility Warehouse recovering a debt of £3093.15 dated from 22/10/2013. I have moved around a lot in the last few years but have been at my current address for over 2 years yet this is the first I have heard from them. I have absolutely no idea where the debt of £3,000 has come from, I was renting a house with my friend back in 2013 and Utility Warehouse were our energy suppliers (all bills were in my name as it was easier) I have checked my emails and my bank statements, I can find a payment to Utility warehouse in March 2014 for £150 but nothing else. I should also mention, the property that this relates to, we only lived there for six months until April 2014 and then both moved in with our parents. In regards to the letter, I have been working really hard on getting out of debt over the last few years and recently took out a debt consolidation loan with the aim of getting the last few things I owe, paid off, my credit score has only recently recovered after a few family members went rogue with my credit score when I turned 18. I cant afford to have a CCJ on my credit file. What should I do? I cant see how we could have racked up a £3000 debt in the six months of living in a 2 bedroom flat. I cant see anything from UW on my noddle report either. Do I write back to Moriaty law? Any help is massively appreciated.

As mentioned above I am not aware that I owe any monies to CFO lending as I paid all my loans as far as I am aware. I also vaguely remember my account getting a redress from CFO in the tune of £650+ which is more than what they are claiming I owe. Any help would be much appreciated

  5. Hi all, new to the forums but a familiar problem. It appears to be for a loan in 2013. Apparently its going to court 14 days from the date of the letter (29/12/17 dated) leaving me short of time. There is no mention of it on my credit file at all. I do not want to contact either company without first knowing the best way to do so. I also don't want a CCJ. I tried to upload the letter but the function isnt working for me. Any further information required?

  7. Hi, so like many over the past few months I'm new to this site and have received a letter from Moriaty Law stating that I owe £877.55 from a loan I took out with Quick Quid back in May 2012. As I'm already paying one debt off with Moriaty I contacted them straight away and questioned it. I probably should have posted about this earlier before taking any action, but here's what's happened so far: I've asked them to provide all/any documentation they can in regards to the load as I genuinely don't remember taking it out. There's a fair chance I did as but I'd like to see proof first. They said it was a fair request and will begin to request the documentation. They then stated that I did, in fact, pay £105.50 off the loan two weeks after taking it out (probably first pay day after getting it). They then said that MMF are willing to accept £700 as a settlement. I've tried to gaina ccess to my old email address used at the time but with no avail. I'm also using a different bank account now so have no way of checking on receiving the load or making the payment. Usually I would just begin to pay the load as I know it's my mess and I have to deal with it, but this one sounds a little suspicious after not hearing about it for years. And I also know what has happened with MMF and read multiple articles stating that £0.5 million has been written off due to unfair practices. Any advice as to what I should do next or when I receive the paperwork would be of great help.

  10. Hello, I've received a claim form about an alleged outstanding debt with TalkTalk from 2011. I 've been online and acknowledged receipt saying I intend to defend the claim as I have never received any correspondence about it nor is there anything on my credit file that includes and account. I was in the process of writing a CPR 34.14 after seeing all the advice on here and I noticed the address for JC International (the claimant) is in the US - do I send the letter there or is there somewhere else it should be going? Just concerned about claims they never received it and it may also take a while to get there. Thanks in advance for any advice!
