  1. Help, Please can anyone advise me where to turn to. I bought a 3 year old approved used Mercedes from a Mercedes dealership on Dec 22nd 2017. I was told verbally that the car was being MOTed the day prior to my picking it up and I was giving paperwork listing the MOT date as Dec 22nd 2017 - Dec 22nd 2018. I was overseas for a while in Sept / Oct and left the car in airport parking. Whilst I was away my car was damaged with some scratching to the bumper. I returned to the UK and amongst the admin I had was a reminder for taxing my car. When I tried to do this I realised my car had no MOT. After multiple enquires with the dealership I have only been able to establish that the MOT expired in April 2018 and no one is able to tell me how this happened. To make matters difficult the dealership I bought from has changed ownership and the car was actually supposed to be MOTed in a different dealership as the car was not located at my local branch when I enquired about it. I have written confirmation from the dealership I bought from that the MOT expired in April 2018 and an apology. I raised a complaint with Mercedes asking for an investigation and hoping to find out what had happened and ideally correct the issue if it was an admin issue. I have got nowhere, Mercedes customer service immediately sent me a final response saying there was no harm caused. I pointed out I could not claim for the damage in caused in airport parking as I had effectively been uninsured. I also pointed out that I was very worried about the fact i had unknowingly been driving uninsured for several months. I got another final response which was very rude and again closed the matter. I asked to speak to the person who was writing these emails and they have refused my calls. I have written again and got another response saying Mercedes maintain there position - I do not understand what this position is. I am bewildered by all of this. I have written to the ombudsman but I think this process takes a while. Can anyone help me, do I have any legal rights here. I have documents saying my car had an MOT until Dec 2018 when I purchased it but it only had an MOT until April 2018. If I had been in serious at fault accident I would have been uninsured, if this had involved a personal injury claim I could have lost my house and if I was prosecuted for driving without insurance I would have been suspended for a minimum of 6 months from my job. I have not yet managed to sort out the damage to my car as I haven't resolved this issue so my insurance is still invalid. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!!!
  2. Hi, I need your advice on the issue I am having with Mercedes-Benz. My ML Artico Leather car seats cover has started splitting on the both front seats which we noticed when it was 4.5 years old, it may have started long before. I have been trying to get Mercedes to repair them FREE for last 8 months. I have complained to Mercedes Head office but keep getting the standard reply from them. Mercedes is saying that the car is out of warranty but as a goodwill gesture they will contribute 50% of the cost of repair. They also say that If I am unhappy with their decision I should contact Motor Ombudsman. I feel that seats on the £45K car should not fall apart in such short time. Has anyone had the same experience? What does the complain to Motor Ombudsman involves and How long will this take? If I take this matter further I have been emailing Mercedes Customer services, should I complain to the Mercedes dealer I bought from? Is my claim against Mercedes Benz dealer or Mercedes Benz Company? I purchased the car from Mercedes Benz Retail, Ealing. What are my rights which says goods should last 6 years? Any advice will be appreciated Thanks
  3. I bought a Mercedes S class S400 hybrid from Mercedes benz of Edinburgh in March 2014 to the tune of £84k. I work as a London Chauffeur providing chauffeur services to some very prestigious clientele. From the beginning I have endured nothing but Serious problems. The car had a serious engine cut out problem whereby when the car was transitioning from Hybrid mode to engine it would unexpectedly just cut out and there was no throttle. Of the many times that this happened there were two in particular that were actually life threatening and both times i had clients on board. One time I made a judgement and entered a busy roundabout and the car cut out which nearly caused a serious collision. This happened again whilst crossing a very busy road in London, luckily the on coming car pulled an emergency brake. I have also had problems with the drivers seat as to date it has not stopped squeaking. I work as a London chauffeur and this has been very distressing as well as highly embarrassing. I first reported this issue to Mercedes of Slough who couldn't find a fault, then I went to Mercedes of Brentford who also couldn't understand why the car was cutting out and couldn't find a fault. Mercedes of Brentford tried to cure the squeak in the seat but unfortunately didn't. Next I went to Mercedes of Heathrow who also did a diagnostic and told me that Mercedes HQ knew about this issue and it was gearbox related. They told me that certain tweaks had to be done to the gearbox and that the work would take half a day to complete (my cars gearbox prior to this was fine and smooth) they kept it in for a week. During the week that they had my car they told me that they couldn't reprogram the gearbox to go into reverse. They also tried to fix the squeak in the drivers seat but to no joy either. When I finally got my car back I quickly realised that the transitions of the gears were not as smooth as they were prior. I took the car back to Heathrow numerous times since then as the gearbox just didn't feel right. Eventually I was told by Heathrow that there was nothing else that could be done by them. They did pay one of my monthly payments but that doesn't solve the bigger problem at hand. I made countless calls to Mercedes customer services with regards all the problems and their answer each time was to take it to a dealership. The big problem here is that the Uk dealerships are just not educated enough to deal with the problems of theses particular cars. Recently Whilst on a job In December 2016 I endured yet another problem whereby the command system of the car failed which means No radio/tv or bluetooth is available in the car. Mercedes Slough have had the car from 16/1/17 till present and I have not even been provided with a temporary replacement to work in. I have literally had enough of this car. I know that they have changed the car for the same problems for a few chauffeurs as we are all connected, but not me. Im not actually asking for the car to be changed but rather for Customer Services to acknowledge the problems that I have constantly faced. I truly feel that Im lucky to be alive. I have had to fit cameras in the car incase I am faced with any other dangerous situations.
  4. Hi Me and my boyfried went into Mercedes last Friday, after spending almost 3 hours there we found a car (used 2 years old) we loved so we paid our order deposit of £500.00. We then left the garage expecting a phone call in a couple of days to go in and sign the finance papers and confirm when we can expect to pick up our new car as it would have to be delivered from one of their other garages. Later on the Friday we got a phone call to say that someone else was going to view the car on the Sunday who then bought the car. Mercedes now cannot find a car the same as the one we put our deposit on. I thought that the car was ours and that we entered into a legally binding contract when they took our £500.00 deposit as our order deposit. Can anyone else advise please?
  5. Mercedes Benz customers beware. Gary Savage [Mercedes Benz UK CEO & MD] has stated that the service"B" does NOT include checking the suspension - WHY ? If they check the tire pressure why do they not check the suspension ? By not checking the suspension they could be putting you life at risk. Tires have to be correct and equal pressure [after all that is why they fit tire pressure sensors. The reason being it is illegal to have incorrect or out of balance pressures as you could lose control in an emergency stop or manoeuvre, particularly in wet conditions and if in amongst HGVs it could prove fatal even in a Mercedes. Surly it is logical that if tire pressures are required to be in balance and checked, it makes sense that the suspension must also be checked and corrected. Out of balanced suspension will surely have the same devastating effect as out of balanced tire pressures. So why are Mercedes Benz putting your life at risk? This must be in contravention of CPR - Due diligence and professional competence.
  6. I bought a Mercedes Vito van the advert said it was it in excellent condition and even mentioned things that the van didn't have like electric wing mirrors i bought the van after traveling 6 hours on the train to see it and 52 miles into my journey home the van went into limp mode i rang him he said to switch the engine on and off and it may reset i tried it didn't so i rang him back he said as long as the van is driving and there are no warning stop lights on i should get home in it. I did eventually get home 6.5 hours later at 45 -50 miles an hour he had reassured me that i could take it to a VAT registered garage for repair and it wouldn't be a problem. I have done this to find out at a cost of £145.00 for the diagnostics that the turbo is seized and the 4 glow plugs are also knackered i have said to LCH its going to cost just short of £1200.00 to repair as a gesture of goodwill on my part as i would prefer a brand new turbo and not a reconditioned one that i will go halves on the repair bill i couldn't be much more reasonable i don't think, and still they are messing me around they even asked me to drive a non road worthy van back to Todmorden from Wales i just want people to be very sure when buying a motor vehicle from here that they have a very good mechanic with them as the three month warranty they give with there vehicles don't seem to be very good.
  7. I recently bought a Mercedes Benz sprinter chassis,to have converted to an ice cream van.It has a computer to advise when a service is due. After 3000 miles the service message came on.The service garage, agree that there is a fault with the computer. However mercedes are refusing to replace the computer unit. They argue that the driving style is the reason the service message is being displayed.I know other ice cream traders with the same van and same driving conditions, most cover 7000 to 9000 miles between services.Any help or advice welcome.
  8. 'The OFT today issued decisions finding that Mercedes-Benz and five of its commercial vehicles dealers infringed competition law and has imposed fines totalling over £2.8 million. Each of the five decisions relates to separate infringements that took place over different periods between March 2007 and January 2010, involving different parties. The nature of the infringements varies but all contain at least some element of market sharing, price co-ordination or the exchange of commercially sensitive information.' http://oft.gov.uk/news-and-updates/press/2013/30-13
  9. Hi all I am asking for help on behalf of my Auntie and Uncle They had a Mercedes on lease hire and was returned, at the end of the lease. They had the car valeted and any defects taken care of. Mercedes have now sent them an invoice for £800.00 because the last service was not carried out by one of there dealers. To me this is extortionate, is there anything that they can do, to fight this, I think it will end up in court! Thanks in advance Leakie
  10. I bought my Mercedes Sprinter van new 5 years ago and had 3 yearly services with the same garage up to 42,000 miles. For the next 2 years up to 75,000 miles I used a local garage in the NW10 area which came highly recommended {had Astons, Bentleys etc in the garage}.... anyway my van broke down and I had it towed there and have since discovered that I need a new engine. I am amazed to be told this as the van has only 75,000 miles on it. The quotes I have been given by 3 different people in the past 36 hours have ranged from £3,500, then £6,000, then £9,000 and now back to £6,000. What I would like to know is if there is a company out there that can investigate or do an inspection to check that official Mercedes parts have been used and also if I can have the oil analysed as I know that using the wrong oil can mess up the engine and void the warranty. Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.
