  1. A long story! My brother was accosted whilst in a Morrison’s supermarket & accused of shoplifting,on 12th March 2018 (since this, I witnessed at least 4 people doing the same thing as my brother) We made an in store complaint in a record book as no manager present, I then complained via their website & email & also to the Liverpool Echo over his treatment as my brother is a very ill man due to pancreatic cancer, Morrison’s supermarkets Plc have stated to a reporter with the Liverpool Echo " They have said that your brother is a known shoplifter to the store and on the second occasion was caught with four bottles of champagne." its stated that he was caught by the store undercover security team & photographed! It took over a week before anyone from Morrisons called us & this after me sending about 4 email requests for information , I was met with constant refusals On the day this was alleged to have happened, he was home all day ill as the previous day he had chemotherapy for advanced pancreatic cancer, We also have a letter from the district nurse who visits him every day to recharge his driver who states its physically impossible for him to carry 4 bottles of champagne! I have now completed the Subject Data Access request form and we look forward to receiving a full written apology from Morrison’s Plc Its virtually impossible to get to speak to the hierarchy at Morrison’s does anyone have any advice please
  2. Hi, around a month ago, I was caught swapping over a pair of jeans in the changing rooms. . stupid thing to do I know. The police were called and they gave me a 'caution', I signed a piece of paper to say I will pay the RLP 'fine' even though the police man didn't have a clue what it was, signed to say I'm banned from primark and to apologise. I've looked online and realised it wasn't an formal caution as I would of have to of been taken to the police station for this. (Sorry have no clue about these things) but that wasn't explained to me. Before I left, I changed out of the jeans and gave them back to the security guard but had been wearing them for a couple of hours whilst all this happened. I've read quite a lot of things about RLP on this forum and other websites and read that the letters should be ignored, what I'm wandering in my case is, the jeans probably wouldn't of been put back on sale as they had been worn? And the tags off? I'm not sure if this makes a difference, the jeans were £10 so do I owe them just £10? Haven't yet received a letter but im waiting on it to come! Also i signed a letter by the police starting I would pay it. Sorry if I sound stupid, I really had no idea! Thank you guys!
  3. Hello everyone, i've basically been taking chocolate from tesco at the self checkout over the past few months (paying for most) but taking a few on the side...I have an eating disorder which I am getting help for but this is just a manifestation of that :/ Anyway I was stopped by security today, and they found I had not paid for £20 worth of chocolate but had bought everything else. The police were not involved, but Ive been banned from the shop and security took my club card details and said they would be sending me a fine in the next 4-6 weeks, which if i did not pay i would be taken to court with. I am happy to pay this fine I just really don't want this to turn into anything more!!! I asked if I could pay there and then but they said no...i feel they will see from my clubcard details i have shopped there a lot and assume I have been doing this along time because of this factor and now I am terrified the police will come after me! Can anyone please advise me on what is likely to happen!! will this all just go away after the fine....im soooo nervous!!! many thanks!
  4. Hi, 3 days ago I were detained for "an offence of theft". I left the store (a Debenhams) with a small perfume bottle + watch in my pocket. I'know that i have done a big mistake in my life I can't deny. 2 men along with a security officer was outside and brought me inside a small room .They took the products back and they threatened me of calling police and finally they asked my ID (I'm not english, I'm from another country in EU), asked me for proof of identification ,I gave my DL and they took my EU address and asked me to sign the papers.I said them a correct address . They didn't call the police and they told me that i am banned from the entire shopping mall as well as they gave me a banned letter along with a RLP copy. Finally they told me that i wil be receiving a letter from RLP within a week. I have no excuses for what I did but I'm worried and I don't want to destroy my life in UK. So, I have many questions: 1) Will they give my details to police? 2) Will be leaving to my country, next week --> Will there be any detention in airport ? 3) Since i am for a short visit to UK,Would I have any problems to return in UK in the future(Related to VISA and UK on arrival verification)? 4) could I have any problems with a job? 5) the value was around £108 thats what they had mentioned, how much could be the fine? if it isn't too much I could pay and close the case (so I punish myself for what I did) Please help me on this, Since I am really tensed and Please let me know about RLP(Since they have taken the product back,Will they impose a hefty fine and will they put me in jail ??)
  5. The other day myself and 2 colleagues were shopping and as we left the store one of us got stopped and it transpires she had stolen a packet of sweets. She claims she wasn't taken into an office and was dealt with in the shop floor. The police were not called but the store manager said he would inform our employer as he had a duty of care due to the hysterical state she was in. The security guard also allegedly stated that he knew all 3 of us had been taking things. The next day we were all summons to head office as the sore manager had phoned our employer and all 3 of us are now been investigated for gross misconduct as we gave brought the companies name into disrepute. I think this is slanderous and possibly a breech of data protection as myself and another college I did not get caught stealing. They got our names after bulling my colleague who was caught by saying they had an a tip off from another colleague that we were always talking things. Obviously this is not true. Can anyone advise please on why the shop had the right to inform our employer without any proof
  6. When i was 14 years old, i got caught shop lifting from tk maxx. They took me into a back room and took down my name, address and other details. The police well called and dropped me outside of my home with a document explaining what had happened. Then i got a letter in the post for a £40 fine, i paid it and nothing else has happened. A couple of years later ( now ) i was thinking will this be on my record and stop me from getting a job ?

  8. Hello I went through a very short phase (not even a month) of shoplifting, mainly out of necessity (or so I thought at the time), due to lack of income and food, which very soon escalated to stealing anything, whether I needed it or not. I would feel so bad about it when I got home, I would donate my stolen goods to the charity shops in my area. I was so wreckless, that I would blatently steal whilst people or cameras were watching me. I have now been referred to a Psychologist, whom I see regularly, and realise why I went through that phase, but am still terribly ashamed of it (the shoplifting). I think the shoplifting was due to my having a serious mental breakdown, and I guess this was my cry for help. I now no longer shoplift, which is great, but I now have a criminal record, have paid a fine of £85, and now have to pay Scotcall Limited on behalf of a store a sum to the value of £137.50. I really don't mind paying the debt, but wonder whether they have the right to claim for goods which I am not in possession of, as they took back the goods. I don't need slagging off, as I have already beaten myself up over my actions, but would like some input as to whether I am legally bound to pay the £137.50 to Scotcall Limited? I look forward to hearing from anyone who has constructive input. Many thanks.
  9. It has often been said on here that a claimant cannot claim the above interest if the action is brought under the remit of the CCA. Well section 69 certainly does not say that. Now I know people will say yes but look here The County Courts (Interest on Judgment Debts) Order 1991 This appears however to relate to section 74 of the 1984 act not 69 am I missing something here???
