  1. So Vodafone are seriously ruining my life, and I'm not exagerating!! I called vodafone back in march to tell them at the end of my contract (Wrongly I thought it was end of May and the guy on the phone even confirmed "end of May" but it was actually end of June) I didn't want to continue with the service. I was told in this instance I was ringing too soon and to ring back next month (April), which I did. I was told during this call that it wouldn't be a problem and to ring back next month to get the PAC code. I rang back the following month (May) not to get the PAC code (Tired of cold callers so fancied a new number) but just to confirm that my cancellation was in place (I'd heard a lot of horror stories about cancelling with vodafone and didn't fancy getting burned, but alas...) and I was told not to worry everything was in place and my service would be terminated before end of May. So I left it believing this to be true. June, and I get a bill. I ring Vodafone and I am told that it is actually 20th of June when my contract ends witch I am annoyed about as I'd been told May before but reluctantly agree that June is ok. (I had in fact gone out and got a new contract with another provider before the end of May believing the information I had been given to be true) I am also told during this call that there was no notice of cancellation on my account which I argue and spend hour of my time on the phone to eventually be told that because my account was switched from one system to another they forgot to take the cancellation notice over to the new account, which sounded audacious to me that a company vodafones size could make such a mistake. On to July 14th and I receive a full months bill!! I am not happy about this, call vodafone, get put on hold for 50 minutes before the line goes dead, after which I contacted the Ombudsman and got them involved. So the ombudsman, myself and vodafone come to an agreement in August that is thus: - cancel the contract and remove termination charges from 20 June 2015 onwards; - award a goodwill gesture of £30 to the account; and - refund any remaining credit back to you Firstly vodafone didn't adhere to the first and most significant of the resolutions, instead they sent a letter to an address i no longer lived at (I moved out in July and as my contract should have been cancelled and talking to vodafone is the same as talking to a wall, it slipped my mind to mention to them that I had moved) stating and I quote, "I tried to contact you today in order to discuss the cancellation of the contract. I did not want to process an immediate disconnection as you may require the PAC code to transfer your number to a different provider." - The PAC code for a number that at this point I hadn't used in nearly 4 months. Also I don't see anywhere on that agreement where it says "asks the customer to confirm the cancellation" I expected, as per the agreement for it to simply be cancelled back to the 20th June. Secondly, I did get the £30 goodwill gesture credited to my account accompanied with an email to myself saying that if after the £30 is credited my account is in credit that the remainder will be paid into the account my bill payments are taken from. Well that never happened and a few days after the £30 was credited vodafone sent me another bill for the month of August which then meant I owed vodafone something around £7.... So that was a pointless gesture and the £7 is something I wouldn't of paid as my account should have been cancelled back to 2 months previous. Lastly my account is still open today (19th October) and I'm still receiving bills from vodafone and now it is affecting my credit file. My credit report shows numerous defaults on my vodafone account the first one for august (2months after my contract apparently ended) and one for September, just waiting for the October one to show on my credit file and screw me over even more... I've dropped nearly 25% of my credit score due to vodafone and the reason this is ruining my life is because I am currently saving for a mortgage and I have been very good with my credit agreements etc due to this. I was in a position to be accepted by a high street lender at a decent interest rate but vodafone have knocked my credit score to just into the poor category. So 50% deposit if I' m lucky and a sky high interest rate. What I'd like from vodafone is a bit of thought in this matter. Cancel my contract and any money owed since 20th June (I was always paid up on time, only payments I missed were these few months because I 1. thought the account was being closed and settled 2. the principle of it, I'm not paying hundreds of pounds for a service I'm not using after the end of contract date because a multi million pound company doesn't like to let customers go. They can keep the £30 goodwill gesture if they take off the defaults/list notice of correction etc on my credit file. I'm at a loss though and thinking only course of action to take is to speak to a solicitor or as my mother suggested this week, approach watchdog and show all the evidence and then maybe this company will take this matter a bit more serious. Any help advice before I go down those routes would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  2. Sentenced to life .... will serve at least 5 years ? Did I miss something? Surely life means that.. life ?
  3. I've taken out an insurance policy. a term assurance one over 15 years thinking even if I still live over that we get a payout. I wanted one where I know there would be a definate payout.
  4. Hi My parents wanted to close down their investment accounts with Standard Life and have the money in their banks so they could access their money more easily. They are in their 80s and are not that bothered about earning interest. We wrote to Standard Life, at their request, quite clearly stating which bank account to deposit the money. They paid the money, £27,500, into the wrong account. They paid it into a joint account, which is shared with my brother. Because my brother has been helping himself to the money, we have had to use my Dad's sole current account for any deposits, ie his pensions. Of course now my brother has stolen the £27,500, transferring it online to his own bank account. He also stole £94 from their joint account. We are in the process of freezing the joint account. A complaint has been raised with Standard Life as to how they could have made such an error. The woman I spoke to on Thursday said it was their error. Therefore, if my brother will not pay back the money he affectively 'stole', I would say it is up to Standard Life to recompense us. I would also like compensation for the stress their error has caused. My Dad has not asked my brother for the money back because he is slightly frightened of him. Do you think it unreasonable to ask Standard Life for compensation as well as refunding the money? If you think it is reasonable to ask for compensation, how much would you suggest we ask for?
  5. Hello CAG I haven't posted on here for a while, hoping you can help. I’m writing to complain about the way Barclays have reported the payment history on my Mortgage. I recently applied for a credit card and got refused; I signed up to ‘Credit Expert’ and spoke with one of their representatives who said the reason I was declined was probably because I have not been keeping up with my mortgage. Although I have had some difficulty in the past when I lost my job in 2009, I have not missed a mortgage payment in over six years so I thought this was odd. In 2009 I lost my job and was unable to pay my mortgage and, after a number of missed payments Barclays obtained an order of possession. Fortunately I regained employment and was able to strike a deal with Barclays just in time to fend off repossession. This deal was to pay my full mortgage payment plus an extra payment towards the arrears. This was under a suspended order of possession. I believe this is defined by the ICO as a rescheduling of the agreement. Barclays have agreed to reschedule the terms of the agreement for the medium to long term, in this case 4 years, in anticipation that the arrears would be cleared and I would return to the original level of payment and some of the arrears were recapitalised. It states quite clearly in the ICO guidelines how this arrangement should be reported: - The credit reference file should record the correct payment history up to the time of the rescheduling. - The account should be marked to show a new arrangement has been made, and reflect the modified repayment terms. - Any record of monthly payments after the reschedule should reflect payments made against the modified agreement. - Where a rescheduling of this type breaks down, a default may be filed when the total value of the arrears is equivalent to three monthly payments under the original terms. However, this should not result in the customer being placed in a worse position than someone who has made no effort to pay whatsoever. Yet Barclays have been reporting each payment as an ‘Arrangement to pay’. This is not factually accurate. An arrangement to pay is defined by the ICO as a temporary this involves a temporary, short-term (up to six months) arrangement where the lender agrees to accept reduced payments. Arrangement to pay markers imply that I have been making reduced payments towards my mortgage and that I am accruing arrears each month. This is not the case. Please advise. This is a major problem for me, the last AP marker was September of last year. This will be on my credit file until 2020. If I had known this was going to be how things would pan out, I would rather have defaulted in 2009 and had a clean credit file today. Its ridiculous that some one who defaulted six years ago is in a better position to some one who has paid off all the arrears.
  6. I stole £200 pounds worth of money from my work. I have an investigative meeting on Tuesday and am at a loss over what to do. I know I am in the wrong and I am aware that the company uses civil recovery to recover any loss from theft. However, will they have me arrested and charged or take me to court. I can't afford even a caution against my name due to my future career. Please help, I haven't slept a wink since I was given the letter and suspended for gross misconduct. Thanks.
  7. Hi My name is Yasmin. I live in London. And I am about to show consumers what 02 are capable of. I want to sue 02 because while I was in dispute with them over a contract they mis-sold to me - they refused to listen, did not once pick up the phone to me. Moreover never answered my questions nor launch an investigation into how they sold me a contract when I expressly told the sales agent I wanted to buy a mobile phone meant for a minor then aged 10 who needed it for her first day at new Secondary school where she would be travelling alone to and fro. Prior to this I had been using pay as you go - the agent advised me that there was a cool new package that was designed to help control spend and that is was called Simplicity. And that she would be given enough mins to ensure that she can report in and for ant emergencies - he told me that if I stuck to PAYG she may get stranded and need that possibility to make that call to keep herself safe. I said ok. As he seemed so lovely and I kept telling him I had never bought a mobile contract for a child before and wanted to do right by her and my money as I was on a strict budget. I told 02 the contract had to be fixed - the agent promised me it was ok I need not go for PAYG and recommended the 'Simplicity' package. But in 2015 I know noted he did not tell me that this contract was a walking bankcard nor did he set any bars. Or explain what limits. 02 gave no info to me. This why I accuse them know of secretly blinding consumers by selling unlimited data contracts - which they wait to rack up charges on. The 02 agent then secretly, without my knowledge sold me an unlimited SIM card/contract (I was so happy to buy this as a Xmas present) - which in 2014 the child now aged 13 took abroad. It got lost. She got scared to mention it. As soon as I found out, I cancelled it. And I was lucky enough to cancel my direct debits as if I had not done so 02 would have swept my bank account of the entire amount the thief had racked up. Once I then started to ask for help it became a dispute as they kept telling me I had to pay. I told them this was mis-selling but the complaints system is set up to make life so hard. 02 then spent months leading me round the houses. They outsourced my complaint. The phone bill which after I reported it grew to £312.71. I kept asking how can this be? I wanted to pay what I owed. But they just would not talk to me. Here is the contract - can you see anywhere it mention that it was unlimited data card? They told me it as a 'Simple' contract (see attached) - how can you call something simple then allow for call/data charges to be applied - internationally? Attached: 1. 02 contract with personal details deleted - but sales agent to reinforce to me how much I can expect to pay each month 2. 02 contract T&Cs (no mention of data or call charges internationally) My issues: I informed them at around the same time that I was a survivor of abuse and therefore need all the pennies I can get. Every penny was tight and I was in a huge personal crisis. I wanted 02 to just to take monies for what I ordered. I was happy to pay the £10 that was due but 02 never accepted that. They never once picked up the phone to me. They did offer to reduce the bill but they never gave me a breakdown of how the newly reduced figure was worked out. The CEO Ronan Dunne was informed that during this time I was also a survivor of domestic abuse - he and his team refused to listen or help and kept demanding I pay the reduced amount. 02 then handed me over to Badenoch & Clarke - who were bailiffs - when they heard my story they were so horrified and halted it - and told me that at no point were they made aware that there was a dispute over mis-selling. My incident is proof that 02 set us consumers up, make it vague and a quagmire to debate or challenge mis-selling and then - cart you across to the conveyor belt of debt - and trash credit reports as punishment for daring to challenge them. Failure by 02 to take the issue of misselling - even now I have contacted the MEP, Ofcom - and they seem very vague and woolly. Hypocrisy by 02 - see image below of Ronan Dunne - yet he says publically one thing and did the other - to me. I even wrote to him but his email account blocked me. Now that these unfair charges have been racked up - 02 refuse to accept or discuss that the contract was for a minor. Nor will it comment why the agent wrote in his handwriting £10.50 verbally (then wrote promotion on the contract) and why they say 'basics data' will not explain why they did not write that this contract was clearly an unlimited sim card (aka walking bank card). 02 say as I am the person on the contract - I am the adult. I must pay. But this is why we consumers in 2011 were blind folded - as today all the retailers esp Tesco Mobile which is powered by 02 I believe now have strong capping. Why are telecoms companies allowed to sell walking bankcards - at least to use these you need a sim - why is the telecoms industry so irresponsible in selling us contracts for minors - when they knew how dangerous it can be. And that there must now be a default which stops consumers from racking up charges for data or for international calls. FYI Until this loss/theft of the mobile phone incident I paid on time - 100% of the amount due since Nov 2011. I of course wrote to Ombudsman - who did not read my complaint properly. Nor addressed mis-selling issue at all and supported 02's stance - that it was fair to reduce the bill as 02 suggested. This was a disgrace and now I am still waiting for Ofcom to reply. I was forced to complain about the Telecoms Ombudsman and there was an independent investigator who upheld my complaint and offered me compensation. This is why I decided to sue 02 after Telecoms Ombudsman - screwed up. Not once did they try to help me and moreover I found evidence they were supporting 02 - when they ought to be impartial. Damages. This is the effect on my life. How much is this worth? You see prior to this I had never been turned down for credit and always paid my way. I am now so reduced and battling 02 who seem to think they have gotten away with this. I am just trying to find the money to sue them via the small claims court. Stress, mental exhaustion Unable to kickstart my new business - which is now on hold. Sept 2014 - failed remortgage due to adverse credit report filed just by 02 - this was supposed to have paid all my debts and raised money to invest in my start up business April 2014 due to inability to get remortgage forced to enter an IVA July 2015 trying to obtain a tour operator's license. Been told that due to poor credit score and IVA unlikely that I will get merchant facilities. August 2015 - obtained a letter in principle to take my business products to a top London venue - where I can sell these as a commercial concession. Due to inability to find investment/sponsorship or money - I will now be forced to lose this opp. This is why I now am so shocked 02 have done this and did so - even with permission of exec office who refused to discuss mis-sselling with me. They just would not call me and refused to have any sympathy and refused to explain their contract. In fact they told me they were licensed to charge us what they want as the sim was unlimited (even though they called it simplicity) - utter madness. Questions: What would you do? Has anyone had the same happen to them? Is it solved? Unresolved? If the latter please get in touch with me as maybe we can do a class suit. I think there are more consumers out there but it takes a mighty persons to still remain standing as I think 02's complaint procedure is designed to ensure consumers like us who accuse them of mis-selling are sent via a maze - never to emerge and complain or be successful. Which small claims court process should I pursue? There are 2 - but it depends on how much you sue for and then of course there are relevant fees attached. Which would you best advise? What do you think is the damages I am due? And which court should I go via?
  8. If you were a policyholder with Standard Life when it demutalised in 2006, you would have been entitled to cash or shares. There are still 60,000 people who can claim shares and about 5,000 entitled to claim cash. Those who held a with-profits policy which started before March 2004 and was in force in October 2005 may be eleigible. The last date for claims is 9th July 2016. Anyone with a valid claim should contact Capita Asset Services on 0345 608 1478 http://www.standardlife.co.uk/c1/news-and-blog/uncategorized/dont-miss-money-thats/

  10. Hi, My partner has had an agreement with IDEM services for a repayment plan of 95 pounds. She was diagnosed with Parkinsons in January. She has been without work for 2 years and now she must accept early retirement as she is no longer capable of working. We wrote to idem and her other creditors asking to reduce the figures to a token 5 pounds of which all but idem agreed. I will fill out and income/expenditure form for her to send, as now I am the only earner in the house and so am responsible for all expenses. is there anything I can do in order to get them to drop their figures or see sense, ultimately she will never realise the conculsion fo these debts as she is no longer in a position to earn money outside of her pension.
  11. The IFA is long gone as he was associated with an Estate Agent and no longer works with them The policy is on a Norwich Union Life Insurance product I am still paying for with about 10 yrs left - the Payment protection was added onto the policy and I remember feeling quite pressured at the time to include it Who should i put a claim against ? The IFA or the company I pay premiums to Is there a standard letter I can send to activate the claim and start the 8 weeks countdown that the Financial Ombudsman require? Also would I need to request a SAR from Norwich Union (now Aviva) as I think when I moved overseas I may even have requested the PPI be cancelled Thanks, any help would be appreciated I am all at sea with this whole process!
  12. Don't know if this is the correct forum, so feel free to move if necessary. So I got two seperate letters from Standard Life pensions. One was a standard single letter and another more detailed set of letters accompanied with a terms and conditions booklet. Apparently someone has set up a pension using my address (but a different name). What do? I am not going to ring up some £3 minute line, plus the Standard Life website has 3 phone numbers and none of them match the employeezone.co.uk one on the letters. The employeezone.co.uk one doesn't match the one on the letters either. I am not going to talk to someone trying to divulge my personal details just to let them know something is odd since they may be the point. I have scanned the letters and removed any details if you want to look at them here: Also I don't want to have my address on some black list, or go through stringent checks just for being a victim of fraud. What is the best course of action? Hi, I've attached the PDF with all the scans. Hopefully someone using my address is a mistake of some sort but I doubt it. edit: The persons date of birth (but blacked out by me) is before I lived at this address, but I've been living at the same address for around 30 years and the persons birthdate is only 1-3 years before that. Doubt they would be registering anything back to this address, assuming the persons details are even legit.
  13. Hello all from this forum, Lets start back from 2012, on september 2012 I was going to complete 14 year living in this country and for the ones who think I am another foreigner trying to reach the easy life, i can assure you that I have done more to the english elderly than a lot who has bourned here and I am very well documented about that. but the matter is not that yet. Two months before I completed the 14 years life in the UK which would give me the right to apply to the ''leave to remain'' the prime minister, Mr Cameron changed the rules of 14 year to twenty two years, but gave the right for the ones close to complete the 14 years, we need to prove our good character and that we lived in this country 14 years or ''close'' uninterrupted and also be able to pass from the test life in the UK which I done, so with all my homework done and a dossier made by myself explain everything I had done in this country during these 14 years and with all photos you can imagine sustaining my claim, it was a matter of time as it couldn't be any better application as far the home office were concerned, so got all together with the solicitor application and I issued two cheques, one of four hundred something for the solicitors fee and another of nine hundred something for the home office fee, my account had all the funds in it just waiting to the cheques to be presented and one day before the closure for the applications to the home office, I had mine sent by my solicitor. After one month got a letter from the home office confirming the receipt of my application and that I should keep waiting until their decision, by this time I had all the monies laying on my account ready to cover the cheques I issued, and then first come the four hundred something cheque cleared without any problem whatsoever and strangely the home office cheque was taking too long to be presented until after a month I got the letter from Barclays stating they had refused to pay my cheque to protect my money as I didn't have a mandatory signature and making things worst the letter from the home office saying that my cheque bounced and my application was not considerate, it was like the impossible happened, i couldn't breath, I couldn't react to that news and after proving the solicitor it was not my fault we agreed to sent the home office another cheque with a explanatory letter from barclays proving i had enough funds on my account and after a couple of months I had my entire application sent back to the solicitor office still saying that my application it was refused because my cheque bounced and that was their final decision and since then my live become a hell, after spending so much with solicitor and having to move due to the home office threat of deportation and many other events related drove me and my partner to contemplate suicide every single day until now, we are suffering from a very bad depression which make us fell really numb for anything and wanting to die, everyday I think about taking my life, it is so bad that I got phobia to answer and make phone calls and also having depraved sleep. So if anyone could help me with some advice I would really appreciate and please believe me, if I had done nothing for this country I would really leave without a question, but apart of learning to love this country I gave my bit for some guys life which really made a difference on their lives and would again and again if needed. Thank you all SM
  14. Hi all, Simple question really, it would seem that a pension I used to have (occupational) was with Tibbett and Britten group. The pension trustees apparently were wound up in 2012 as far as I can make out, but I still have around 8 years of contributions with this pension fund. What do I do ? How do I access my frozen pension funds from a fund that has been wound up ? This isn't my area of expertise, but I'm sure someone here is an expert
  15. Hi, I'd appreciate advice from others who have had similar experiences with Vodafone, and am also hoping Lee the Vodafone Rep may be able to intervene and/or offer advice. I opened a Vodafone account in June 2011. My calls and text usage was always well below the plan I was paying for. In August 2012 I received a sales call out of the blue offering me a new phone. I was under the impression I was agreeing to an upgrade, and agreed to increase my DD by £10 per month for a Smart phone to replace my Blackberry. They sent me the new phone and it transpired I had been sold a whole new contract for a second phone, line rental, the lot, which I did not need. When I queried it and asked why I had been approached when clearly I didn't need a second phone, I was told it was a special offer which I could use for a member of the family. I had a young relative just starting college so I offered the new phone to him. It seemed worth it for £10 per month. However, he ran up the bill well over the monthly limit and he didn't reimburse me with the money. I came to an agreement with Vodafone to pay the bill of £120 in instalments. I went on holiday for a week and whilst still abroad my own phone was disconnected. The bill on my own phone was fully paid up to date but my phone was disconnected because the payment on the second phone was late. And so began a catalogue of bullying and punitive behaviour by Vodafone who flatly refused to see reason or to negotiate a reasonable agreement. I had no written contract and had never been told that the two contracts were linked, ie, that if one was unpaid they would disconnect the other. On my own phone the only service I was getting was incoming texts and incoming calls but I was still receiving bills for the entire package, ie, line rental, minutes, texts and data usage. I protested this because I was not getting the services they were charging me for. Again the (previously unwritten) contract was quoted which Vodafone interpreted in their favour, but to me clearly stated that I should be paying for the package of services received. As I wasn't receiving the package of services then I refused to pay the full amount. I offered to pay a reduced amount for the service I was receiving, ie, incoming calls and texts but this was refused. After this "stand-off" for a couple of months I offered to repay in full the debt on the second phone but would not pay for the services not received on the first phone. The services on the first phone were then disconnected entirely, not at my request, Vodafone took the decision themselves, then they sent me the bill for the remainder of the contract which was another 6 months. They were trying to extort (for extortion is what it is) over £600 out of me for a debt of £120. I wrote to the MD and the CEO, neither of whom responded. I eventually reached someone in the Directors office who refused to reach an agreement to settle this issue and restore my account. This all happened in January-March 2013 and 2 years later I am still suffering losses because Vodafone posted a default notice on my credit record. I am unable to obtain a mortgage so have to continue paying rent. I have been unable to re-mortgage my buy-to-let property, thereby paying more interest than I need to. I cannot obtain a credit card; I am having to pay more for a car leasing agreement because of the credit record. It just goes on and on. To me this is a total abuse of power on Vodafone's part. Instead of trying to reach an agreement with me they have literally punished me for not giving in to their unreasonable demands. In my view they breached my contract with them. I have spoken to the Credit Reference Agency, Credit Call, who've advised me to write to the Ombudsman, which I'm in the process of doing. However, even if I were to pay the amount Vodafone are attempting to extort from me, it would be noted as "settled" on my Credit record and would still affect my credit rating for 6 years. Furthermore, I'm told by Credit Call that Vodafone will be fined £400 for every complaint that goes to the Ombudsman so I really don't understand why they can't just take a commercial decision and reach an agreement to settle with me, in return for removing the default notice altogether. It's a ridiculous situation, totally out of proportion to the "offence". Six years is a longer sentence than someone would receive for assaulting someone! I'm just waiting for the letter of deadlock so I can write to the Ombudsman but if there's anything else I could be doing, please advise. Many thanks Denfar
  16. Hi all, I really need some straight advice. I've just discovered this site.. ..it has so much information that my head is spinning. I'm really not sure where or how to start dealing with my debt. I have debts of just over£25k to eight different creditors. Very, Isme, Marisota, Barclaycard, Aqua (2) Vanquis and Next. I've been with them from between 5 and 10 years. Due to a change in finances (im self employed) I haven't made a payment since January. I feel so ashamed! But I just cant afford to. I have just £131.62 left over each month which calculates to just £16.45 that I could now offer each creditor. I don't think they will be too happy with that but I can't afford to pay any more as I have already drastically cut all my expenditure which I also worry about as I dont have anything put away for kids xmas/birthdays etc... .I'm so very depressed and feel I have failed my children by getting myself in this situation. my daughter has a heart condition which may prove to be fatal within time....perhaps another 5 or 6 years. So with this in mind I wonder what advice others may have, I went to the debtchange website, filled out the expenditure form and they recommed I take out an IVA which would be paid off in 5 years with whats left over written off. As Im now a full time carer to my daughter my finances arent going to change much and the thought of having and giving very little to my daughter just makes me fall apart. What can I do. I haven't spoken to the creditors as the ones I have 'Very' and 'Isme' were really horrible. I just cant face talking to anyone. Please help x
  17. Network Rails has said it will review it’s plans during development of the Thameslink programme at London Bridge after a short closure last night caused “Life Threatening Chaos” for rush hour commuters. Lines were shut down for 45 minutes from 4.20pm because of a person on the tracks at Streatham, the operator said. The knock-on delays saw huge numbers of people stranded on platforms and some forced to jump closed barriers to avoid the crush, while onlookers posted dramatic images online. The London Mayor, Boris Johnson said: “This chaos must end now. The scenes at London Bridge last night were completely unacceptable.“ It is a disgrace that Network Rail and the train operating companies have failed once again to get a grip of the situation at London Bridge. Mick Cash, leader of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union said last night’s scenes were ‘horrific’, adding: “RMT is sick and tired of the excuses about the continuing chaos at London Bridge which led to horrific scenes at the station last night. I wonder if those that jumped the barrier are being prosecuted.
  18. We were sold a 25 year Standard Life Decreasing Term Life Assurance policy / Mortgage Protection Plan on our first property / mortgage in 1990. It was also a condition according to the company representative who we had the meeting with. We have moved twice since then and mortgage amounts increased (with same lender) but we continued to pay the same monthly premium. Should the original policy been amended / updated to coincide with increased borrowing / coverage ? Thank-you
  19. I hope someone can help me. After a lot of hard work and struggle my credit record is finally in better shape, except for a default from Virgin media for £21 which I got when their service was down for 2 months and I refused to pay for a service I wasn't receiving. I did pay once they cancelled my contract. I have written to them several times pointing out that the terrible service I received and asking them to remove the default but they are refusing. I have sent a SAR to them and they sent back 5 pages of computer printout which logs my phone calls and letters, but that's all. Any idea what I should do now? Also on my credit report it goes 1 late payment 2 late payments then default, I thought they had to give you more than that? This one default is affecting so many areas of my life it is ridiculous!

  21. Hello, I'm hoping this will reach all those who have previously helped me, and that I will receive some speedy advice/help. If the people who have previously been kind enough to help me are not as knowledgeable on the following questions, PLEASE can you direct this post to people who can advise me asap? Thank you. I haven't been around for a while due to illness, (everything got too much for my already fragile brain). My questions here now may be better on a new thread, but as I can't fathom out how I open a whole new thread/topic/whatever, I'm hoping that if this is in the wrong place, somebody can move it for me please?? I'm on the verge of receiving at least 2 CCJ's, as I lost the ability to fight anymore and so admitted the debts. My first burning question is once the CCJ's are awarded, does a creditor have any rights/access to a life insurance policy that is held in trust please?? I have read somewhere, (not on here), that they can use the CCJ's to attach to the trust while I'm alive and that after I've snuffed it, they have a certain amount of time to file a claim against my estate? The policy in question has no monetary value until I die, no cash-in value etc, it's just a pure level term life insurance policy. I took it out purely to try and ensure that my funeral costs can be met and that my two daughters will have a (small) amount of money from me when I die, as I have nothing else to leave them. How could creditors find out about the policy please and can they do the above ? Secondly, and this might be yet another different thread requirement , the policy mentioned above was put into trust at the time it was taken out, on the advice of the insurance company. I didn't know the first thing about trusts and probably still don't, even though I am driving myself half mad again in trying to research the subject!! From what I can gather the trust the policy was put into is a 'revocable trust', and if I'm right, this is the worst kind of trust if you have CCJ's?? So, I'm trying to find out whether I need to change the trust from revocable to irrevocable please, (in the hope that an irrevocable trust would give total protection of the policy, both whilst I'm alive and after I've died)?? If so, how do I go about this, without it costing anything please, as I have no way of affording to seek legal help? I was under the impression at the time of putting the policy into trust that in doing so, the proceeds of the policy would not form part of my estate, therefore bypass probate, and most importantly to me at the time, ensure my daughters would receive the money quickly. It's not something I've given any thought to since, but now that I'm in this huge financial mess, I must understand what could happen/ what I can or should do, if anything. MANY THANKS to anybody who can give me some clear advise on the questions above. I'm expecting the CCJ's any day now, so if there's anything I need to do quickly, I'm hoping to hear from some of you soon. Thanks again.
  22. My partner's Brighthouse. 2 accounts, totalling £6.37. Missed a week's payment. Charges of £11. That comes under the description of unfair charges as it exceeds the amount of payment missed. Manager utterly refused to remove despite the fact I've had previous charges removed for saying they're unfair (and before anyone says, SAME store). But then again this is the same store that had a manager signed OSC removal form and never removed it....
  23. My wife and I have two Life Insurance policies with AVIVA (taken out in 2002) and I've just realised that they both have Premium Protection attached. I don't remember why we were sold the protection at the time as we were both in secure employment. Could we have been mis-sold this aspect of the policy and could we therefore reclaim the amount of the premium that paid for it?
  24. There has been discussion on whether some jailed for life should be kept inside for the whole of their lifes. Should this be the case, no matter how much it costs or should the government look at other options ? If someone is kept in a maximum security prison for 50 years, that would cost approximately £2.5 million. This is the equivalent of the tax paid by 500 full time workers on average salaries. How would these people feel that their hard earned tax is going on paying for murderers meals, accommodation, plus their funeral costs at the end of their life ? While I do not support the death penalty, when you work out the costs of justice and that the family of the murdered may be paying their taxes to feed/house these people, it does make you ask the question.
  25. Last Tuesday was the much awaited release of some limited edition dolls. I am a collector, I have been my entire life, I have spent literally thousands. I got up at the crack of dawn and waited for them to be listed online. I managed to get the two I wanted but separately . I received my tracking code (Disney use Hermes), I noticed the code was an old one of mine from three months ago but had been updating the new order. The second order was doing the same. I asked Disney on Facebook what was going on with this and was told it was a "mistake". I asked well if this code is a mistake what is my tracking code? I did not receive a reply. Then I check the tracking on Friday and both orders had changed to "not delivered-address query". I rang Disney to find out what was going on and she said "that's a tracking code from three months ago" I told her I was well aware of this, and had questioned it on facebook, but it was not dealt with. And besides the code was updating that day. She then told me when she puts in the code I was emailed its bringing up someone elses name. She put me on hold several times. She then told me " I have no idea what is going on". I was then promised a call back, which to be fair she did. she told me she "still had no idea what was going on and I have escalated this as an emergency" (?!). After this call I checked on Facebook, others are complaining of this same issue. In addition, some who ordered one doll, have received an entirely different doll (the only one that hasn't sold out), Clearly something has gone very very wrong with these orders. It took Disney several hours to respond to these messages on Facebook. After this i've checked the tracking for both orders again, one has changed to delivered and "not delivered- address query" has completely disappeared. I rang work to check id been sent the right one and luckily it was. However, still no sign of the other doll (incidentally the one I wanted the most and went for first). Also, when ive gone to work to pick up the box, the box its been sent in has written all over the side for all to see what the box contains. Sorry, but this seems like a special brand of stupid to me!! I rang Disney again to tell them one had been delivered and is there any news on the second. I was told the "emergency escalation has not been responded to yet". The attitude of the staff on these calls has been infuriating, they don't seem to care at all and give the impression of 'and?'. I rang again on Saturday. I was told I would have an update "On Monday". I've rang again on Monday to be told "we are waiting to hear back from the warehouse". He promised me that he would ring me back "on or before 6 o clock even if there is no update". Unsurprisingly this call never happened. In the meantime pretty much all of my messages on facebook have been ignored and the page is full of others saying the same ie getting ignored. I have also emailed the chief exec THREE TIMES and have not received any response whatsoever. These dolls were very expensive and cannot be replaced, Other than buying off ebay for £200 plus. I cannot put into words how frustrated/disgusted I am with Disney. Also worth noting, before this I had twice received emails/txt messages informing me my order was on its way, At that point I had no order!!!! I was even able to follow the tracking despite it not being mine. I had emailed Disney about this asking what was going on and is there some sort of data issue. Yet again, this was ignored!! It sewems to me Disney are in chaos at the moment and have put up a wall of silence!!!
