  1. Hi there I took a car out on a PCP contract for 4 years with Mercedes in August 2014 I took a seizure on 4th April 2015 still no sign of getting my licence back but I've never missed a payment on the PCP agreement this has nearly been a year since I took the seizure and still paying every month I can't see a way out or put a plan together as Mercedes aren't interested although I've informed Mercedes of my situation but there not interested as long as they are getting paid every month,if anyone could give me some advice on what to do I would be most greatful especially in finding out how soon I could possibly VT the car back to them as I'm partially disabled and struggling to get by with having to pay for this car every month it's seriously effecting me and my family at this moment I can't just hand the car back because it would blacklist my name. I think I need to pay at least half of what is owed on the agreement but I just can't keep this up its having devastating effects on my life having to worry about raising the money every month for something that I can't even drive,if anyone can help or point me in the right direction it would be so much appreciated with kindest regards Scott thanks in advance
  2. So I part exchanged my car in the middle of last year; sent off the slip to the DVLA and thought nothing more of it. Then December last year I started getting letters from the DVLA etc saying my car wasn't insured. I sent off the proof of sale and they sent me a document telling me I was no longer the registered keeper. So it seems like they never received the original paperwork and I'm now still being pursued for not having insurance for a car I have proof of sale of! This seems ridiculous to me - do I really have to defend myself against this?!!
  3. Insurers could be forced to come clean to their customers on how much they paid the previous year, to make it easy for households to check if their premiums have been pushed up significantly. Up until now, insurers have not had to tell their customers how much they have been paying when it’s time to renew, so it is difficult to tell whether the new premium is competitive or not. A study today reveals that few customers can remember off the top of their heads what they had agreed to pay a year earlier and many just agree to roll over and pay for another year. The proposal by the City watchdog is designed to tackle concerns that loyal customers see their premiums rise if they stay with the same insurer, particularly for a long period of time. 4. Hi, We bought a 2003 Fiesta in November 2014 (last year) from a car dealer in Warrington for £1500. We didn't do any checks as we felt that it was unnecessary from a dealer (We now know this to have been a mistake and should have done checks), however we did ask if there was anything historical about the car that we should know about, they said there wasn't. Fast forward to today, we've come to trade in this car as a part exchange and they've informed us that it was a Category D write off, and would only offer £150 for it. We've now run a check on it ourselves and this is true. Do we have any recourse against the dealer in Warrington? Since we'd asked about it's history, and they didn't tell us this information, have they mislead us? What course of action should/can we take? There seems to be conflicting reports from similar situations around the internet ranging from them being told to take them to court, to them not having any rights at all. If we would have known that it was a write off, we'd have never bought the car. Over the Course of the last 12 months we've spent over £1000 on repairs for the car (yes - fully admit that it was a bad purchase, all things considered), are we able to claim any of that back as well as the price paid for the car, given we wouldn't have bought the car if we knew the full story? Just a little bit confused on what our options (if any) are? Thanks in advance to anyone that can advise.

  6. Hi, For over 4 years now I have rented a small warehouse. I have never seen or ever signed a contract and have been paying the rent firstly via a caretaker and then weekly via BACS to the landlord bank account. A couple of weeks ago they emailed me saying I was a couple about a month behind with the rent and now wanted the money paid monthly in advanced, I replied saying I would be able to clear any arrears in about a month but would not be able to pay monthly in advanced. This evening I received an email saying they wanted me out of the unit as soon as possible and have threatened to lock me out of the unit. I am a sole trader and have quite a bit of stock in, so finding another suitable unit and moving will not be a quick process. Does anyone know how long notice they should give me. I have read some post regarding the Landlord and Tenant act 1954 and it seems the notice period can be upto 6 months, and also can they legally lock me out of the unit? Thanks for your time JJ

  8. Basically I signed (with a friend) a lease for a 2 bed property in London through a well known letting agent. The Landlord had agreed etc, I paid a £500 deposit, had references checked from my current landlord and employer. Everything was approved, then we ring up today to ask about signing the real contract and were told the landlord was pulling out because apparently he/she found damp and is selling the property. (My guess is he/she found someone willing to pay higher outside of the letting agent), can't know for sure. This obviously leaves me and my friend in a sticky situation because we have both given our notice in that we are leaving our current property. We were due to move in around 2 weeks time. The landlord has no reason to believe we won't pay/will be bad tenants, the property had 5 offers (in one day) and he/she chose us. Any legal recourse here? Temporary accommodation/landlord or letting agent has to provide a similar property at the rate agreed etc? To say I'm frustrated is an understatement.....we spend around 3 months looking for the place we signed for. Thanks in advance for any advice.
  9. Hi everyone, I am trying to get some advice on a secured loan that was taken out with Welcome Finance in March 2005 that was repayable over 10 years. Due to redundancies back in 2008 and 2011, I fell behind with repayments and I think it was November 2010 when the account was officially defaulted. When I took this loan out, it was secured on my home. However, a while back I managed to get a copy of my title deeds from the Land Registry and I discovered something quite interesting - under the section listing financial organisations having an interest in the property (e.g. my mortgage lender) I noticed that Welcome Finance was NOT listed. The account has done the rounds of a few debt collection agencies but now am repaying the debt albeit at a reduced rate. Now, if the loan had been secured, it should have been registered with the Land Registry and, if it was truly secured on my property, I would probably have received a repossession order by now ! What is also a mystery, is that in the original paper work, listing charges that they added to the loan, they added a mortgage indemnity fee of £ 1100. If the loan was not 'officially' secured, they had no right to charge me a mortgage indemnity fee ? ( as it was technically not a 2nd mortgage/secured loan, as it was not recorded with the Land registry ?) . Do I have any right to get this fee refunded, considering how long ago it was taken out and do I have any right to make an official complaint for the charges incurred when the loan was not secured, as such ? thanks Dean

  11. Hi all, rather a strange post so please bear with me. Today I had a 3 hour long final assessment as an admin assistant and got offered the job after my 1 on 1 interview at the end. I was called away to the interview when I was inbetween filling in all the forms. When I finished the forms, the another lady who worked there (not the one who interview me) looked through my forms and said I need to provide proof of the last 3 years of my benefits. I was a carer for my Gran up until Sept 2014 but was getting Carers Allowance up until August 2012. The Carers Allowance stopped due to my Gran being in hospital so much but I still carried on being her carer even though I was claiming JSA. In April 2014 I started to claim ESA as my Grans health began to deteriorate and she was in and out of hospital again but I was still her carer. My Gran passed in Sept 2014 and am signing off ESA now as this job offer has really given me the boost I needed and that I never thought Id get. My question is, why do I need to provide this information? How do I go about providing this information? From the DWP? I didnt even know I could get this info.
  12. Hi, firstly, my partner and I, along with our child have lived in this house since 2011 and in this street since 2006. Last year I applied for his secondary school place and was awarded the school of our choice, the school is 250 metres or so from our front door (one of the reasons that we moved to this street in 2006). Last week I received a letter from the LEA Admissions officer telling me that I had to prove where i lived in October last year, they want 5 pieces of paper, 2 of which are A V5 document , I dont own a car, my partner buy s and insures our cars, also, proof of receipt of CB and or Tax Credit, we receive neither of these. I cannot ring them until Monday, but this sounds very strange, part of the letter states that he is not necessarily doubting where I live or where our son lives, actually, that is precisely what it sounds like to me. Whilst we have nothing to hide and have not made a fraudulent application, I cannot provide them with something that I do not possess, does anyone have any advice please.
  13. Hi All, Seem to find myself on here everyday at the minute ! I am cancelling my car insurance as presently have no valid driving license and recently learnt the insurance isnt worth jack while I dont have a valid license, but am keen to keep hold of my No Claims Discount (I have the maximum 9 years). Can anyone confirm that the NCD is valid for at least 2 years while it sits in situ and not tagged to a policy? I've got this 2 years from various googling, but all the posts are years old so I wanted to check this is still the case. Also, when I cancel, what should I do - Ask them to post me my proof of no claims, or should I leave that until I actually need it when I take out a new policy later this year? Thanks, James
  14. My son is fifteen and can not walk so booked assistance at airport and following cancelling one hotel due to it not being described accurately on first chocie website booked at the grand sirenis, mexico which was supposed to be a five star and close to the sea and most importantly flat. First choice despite several long conversations to ensure accommodation was ok for sons needs prior to travelling decided not to inform them about my sons disability so room was totally unsuitable and we had to stay in this room for three days despite being told we would be moved within 24 hours. I know this because the hotel were mortified they had been placed in such a position and showed us the booking especially after my wife asked them is this how they treat disabled people in mexico ( which has very good disability laws checked before we left as holiday was for daughters 21st and wanted it to be perfect ) rep did not want to know, texted uk immediatley thanking them for ruining my daughters 21st birthday treat by treating her brother like a second class citizen. Said they would phone rep immediately to resolve issue, saw rep in morning knew nothing about it and then when my wife went back to say move still not materialised told my wife i had said accommodation was ok when i had actually asked what could be done to move us to a more appropriate hotel they also failed to provide sea view rooms for which they charged 800.00 gbp extra or adjoining rooms or even separate beds for my daughter and her brother food and drinks awful virtually inedible and undrinkable wife got food poisoning from the seafood now i am back wish to clain for four lost days three in rooms totally different to ones booked and paid for and one for wife's food posioning fully intend to go to court if i have to wondered apart from steps outlined in equality act 2010 and sales of goods and services acts 1982 & the package travel package holidays and package tours regulations 1992 what other legislation i could hit them with very tempted to claim for breach of contract and seek full reimbursement of holiday as we all returned exhausted and unhappy having lost weight and suffered from poor service for 14 days but do not know how easy this would be as most issued are service driven apart from sons needs, any advice given will be gratefully received. We logged complaints with hotel, thompson uk and mexico every day and have logged complaint online upon our return to uk already. HAVE ALSO SWAPPED NUMBERS AND EMAILS WITH OTHER FIRST CHOICE DISABLED PASSENGERS WHO ALL FELT BADLY TREATED WHO I ONLY MET ON PLANE ON JOURNEY HOME
  15. Just had a letter from FOS upholding my claim against Capital One, it was rejected twice by Cap one, saying I had ticked the box therefore I knew what I was buying.... But I work in the public sector with an excellent sick pay scheme, and did 10 years ago when I took out the card. Should be an interesting pay-out, a 2000 limit that over such a long time So don't be put off just keep at them :-D:-D:-D
  16. US and Cuba are to start talks to normalise diplomatic ties in a historic shift in relations between the two countries, US officials say. The US is also looking to open an embassy in Havana in the coming months. The moves are part of a deal that saw the release of American Alan Gross by Cuba and includes the release of three Cubans jailed in Florida for spying. US President Barack Obama will later hail the "most significant changes in US policy towards Cuba in 50 years". http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-30516740
  17. Hi everyone On September this year I have realised Vodafone did not take their monthly DD for my mobile monthly contract for the last 15 month, since then I was confused of what to do, the total debit is over £1200, yesterday afternoon Vodafone sent me a text msg to call them urgent. ... I did not....... .... at around 10pm my services was disconnected. I had the contract for over 6 years, on FEB 2013 I had a higher bill than usual, Vodafone agreed that I can spread the bill over a number of months, Vodafone took £50 by DD to cover the bill and called me to take the payment for the new bill using my debit card, when the bill covered Vodafone never call me and I took it as they have gone back to DD for the new bills. My main concern is that am preparing myself to take out a mortgage next month and I would not like this to effect my credit score in anyhow. ....and off course I cannot afford to pay all of the debit in one payment. Can anyone advice me on how to deal with this?!.. .and the best way to approach Vodafone. regards
  18. Hey all, I have not been on here for quite a while, however I have got good news, I got a Job and this time I am being honest, this is not a lie this time. All last week Monday to yesterday I have been on training with . Our Supervisor trained us up on how to use the scanner and to scan items in the warehouse, and we all know now how to use it and its easy, but the big problem is knowing where every numbers and letters are as its massive warehouse, I got a idea where some are but I just hope it doesn't take me long to figure it out. Anyway, yesterday our supervisor said that he was impressed with us all, he got some good feedback and we all have been taken on, some start today and some start Tuesday, I start Tuesday 25 November at 10.30am - 10.30pm shift, 3 days work and 3 days of. Going to sign of Job Seekers on Monday, its relief now that I got a job, better then being sit in my flat all the time nothing to do. But just wondering if you could answer these questions for me? 1. Will Job Centre still pay my Jobseekers as I should have signed on yesterday but I was excluded because of this training, will it still go in my bank on Wednesday 26th even though I am signing of? 2. When do I need to inform my council about changes and will I still be able to claim housing benefit for help with my rent if I am working 10.30am - 10.30pm? 3. I recently got accepted for a budgeting loan and I signed my declaration and I posted it back to them on Tuesday 18 November but since I am signing of Jobseekers on Monday will I still get my budgeting loan or no? 4. If I still get my Jobseekers, will Job Centre release the payment early so I can get some dark clothing for work as I haven't got any dark clothing and I can't buy any till I get paid. If you can help me with these questions then that would be great, and also I apologise about last time I was on here so please accept my apology.
  19. Hello guys, I was due to travel on a cruise this Saturday with Costa, the ship name "Costa Celebration." Unfortunately, at the last minute on Wednesday (only 3 days prior to departure) they call me up saying they have cancelled the sailing. I now find out that the reason for cancellation is that the owners have sold the ship. They are offering me a full refund + £40 per adult as compensation. This was a much anticipated holiday for us. As this was not a technical issue but I am guessing Costa making a handsome profit, they have ruined my holiday. Do I have any legal case here to claim under, "loss of enjoyment" or any other legal points? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Shads

  21. I am in trouble due to EON billing system . I am private tenant and since last two year having services from EON as economy 7 plan .Since i moved in this property i always had estimated bill i paid for one year but bills keep on increasing every time so i report them to take meter reading . But no one from EON arrived for 6 months . After 6 months of followup via mail and phone one representative came for inspection and found that meter is faulty .Therafter took another 7 months to replace this meter ( three times engineer gave appointment and not turned up). Now they replace meter and based on last one month reading they send me estimated bill of £ 2250 for year . When i called customer service they said they use some software to calculate this bill and i have to pay this amount . This is really put me in financial trouble now. if anyone have any idea how i can resolve this please please please let me know .
  22. Ok guys alot of negatives comments could come out of this but im looking for the supportive comments I took out a contract back in December 2011 phone was a Samsung Galaxy S2 now what really miffs me off with these companies is they only offer a 12 month warranty with all phones and they give you a 24 month contract Now i had the S2 for 9 months brilliant phone i loved it only until one day i woke up and the phone wouldn't turn on took the back off to check for any signs of water damage and all the little strips was white so that indicates no damage to the phone so i sent it off to Vodafone waited for a week to be told it had liquid damage inside the phone and wanted to bill me £100 to fix it i kicked off stating the phone has no damage to it and i am not paying £100 for nothing so then Vodafone said they would pay half to fix the phone again i refuse to pay £50 for something which is still in warranty. They was having none of it so i told them give me the phone back and ill have it checked by someone i know who specializes in Samsung mobile phones he took the phone apart and said there is no sign of liquid damage in the phone all the strips inside the phone was white as i said Contacted Vodafone and they was having none of my findings so i left it at that So the guy i know tried to fix the phone and said that its had its days and would be far to expensive to repair the phone. I have sent Vodafone an email today to Stefan Langkamp asking if vodafone could kindly reset my contract from scratch and issue me with a new phone of my choice way i see it is they get my custom again for another 24 months and they dont get the hassle about the S2 which is now broken. Still not had a reply yet hopefully if that dont work then people here may have some kind advice. I dont want the contract cancelling as i would struggle to obtain another contract due to some debt i have recently cleared off. I just want a phone which i would feel like im getting my monies worth i had paid for that S2 within the 10 month period of having the phone as all my bills was averaging around £45 - 50 a month due to work commitments etc i tried contacting Samsung regarding the issue but i had no reply off them
  23. My OH has checked his credit file & found that an unpaid debt to a catalogue company for £270 has been registered as a default on 01/02/14 despite having not made payment at all since 2009. Balance history Hide details Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sept Oct Nov Dec 2014 270 270 2013 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 2012 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 2011 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 2010 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 270 2009 270 270 270 270 Hide previous years He doesn't deny he owes the money but when asked to prove that he signed the agreement, none was forthcoming & the company ceased chasing payment. Clearly it has been sold on to a DCA but no contact has been made yet this default has now shown. Should he: a) ignore the date of default ? b) question the default & if so, with whom ? c) will it matter what the date is since, if I've got this right, it should drop off his file after 6 years since last payment activity on the account ? He has other debts that he's made arrangements for so already has a trashed credit file but wants to at least have the trash being correctly applied ! All help appreciated AARGHHH !!! On reviewing the file, I note that it is only the updated date that has registered as 2014 - the actual default is 2009 !

Debt purchaser HFO Capital and two associated debt collection agencies, HFO Services Limited and Roxburghe (UK) Limited, have been declared “unfit” by the OFT and will not have their licences renewed.
