  1. I purchased a Diamond Engagement Ring from Vashi.com online and paid the full amount of £2,464.05 on 10th July 2015. I proposed to my partner with the diamond ring on a holiday to Barcelona. I went to great expense to get everything right,*which was very important to me. We stayed at a 5 Star hotel in Barcelona, I hired a table on a secluded veranda overlooking Barcelona, hired a Mariachi band who were playing a serenade where I proposed with the ring I had purchased from Vashi.com. Everything went and seemed perfect. On our return from Barcelona we asked Vashi.com to alter the size of the ring as it was too big and to upgrade to a different stting design, which we chose in person at the company’s London shop and paid a further £301. I received the amended ring at my home by registered post on 12th August 2015 and signed for it. The Engagement ring was given away to my fiancée as a gift at the blessing ceremony on the next day 13th August 2015. Vashi.com telephoned me on 18th August (7 days after I received the ring) checking if I have received the ring because their system showed that the ring is still in the depo and during their stock check they suspected an error. Upon my confirmation of receipt of the ring Vashi.com expressed the suspicion that I may have received an incorrect item and asked me to send our Engagement ring back. To cut a long story short we refuted their claims believing we had our ring we paid for. They then accused us of retaining a ring that did not belong to us saying that another customer wanted their ring back, giving us an ultimatum to return the ring or pay an additional £1000. Also the so called diamond certificate is not a certificate (has no number on the diamond) and is indeed their own appraisal. They have harassed my fiancee and I since and now have issued a claim in court against us! Any advice? surely this must be a breach of our consumer rights. We are in court on the 16th March 2016.
  2. Hello, I hope I'm in the correct section. I've always found this site useful in answering any questions and have never needed to sign up until now. I hope some of you lovely users can help me out with a situation I've fallen into. 2 days ago I took my "guess" watch into a branch of "tgs jewellers/ pawnbrokers" to have the batteries replaced. I decided to go to this particular place due to it being open for several years I automatically assumed they know what's what... As they repair/sell and buy watches. I took the watch in and the gent told me it'll be ready in an hour, I thought nothing of it and returned in an hour. The gent at the counter gave me the watch and I put it on, asked him how long the batteries should last he replied "a few years minimum, they're good quality batteries"... At this time I was trying to correct the time on the watch and found the stem was stuck solid. The watch itself has ZERO problems prior to this battery replacement. The stem is set up so you pull it out one click to set the date and another click to set the time. Then click/push it back to have it set. The stem is completely STUCK down at this moment. I ask the gent what's happened... He fiddles with it and says "it's a push system... You push it down an set the time..." no. No. That's not how it is, he argues an says yes while he sets the time... I ask him how am I supposed to set the date then? He replies"I don't know, I don't know how the watch works" At this point I started getting a bit upset and ask him "have you changed the internals or something this is not how my watch works?" he says "no I was there when the batteries where replaced upstairs, it couldn't have been changed. And goes out back. I can see him on the pc with someone doing some type of video chat. Then shows the watch to the camera. I don't know what's happened. He returns and says they will have a to call in the watchmaker who will have a look at it. I have little option... Either take the busted watch or leave it and hope its fixed. I leave it with them and am told it should be ready in 5 days. It's been 2 days and I'm getting the sweats every time I think about the watch. The watch not only is valuable money wise, my father purchased this watch for me on my birthday 2years ago, unfortunately he has passed away and this is pretty much the last birthday I had spent with him/ gift I got from him. I'm scared they have done something to the watch, changed internals/mechanism? I'm even more worried now if they do manage to get it back to normal what if it falls apart in a few days/weeks. I'm pretty scared and unsure what to to. I'm hoping someone would give me advise how to handle this situation. I have no idea what to do/say/expect. Long story shortened: Gave watch to jewellers for battery replacement Collected the watch, doesn't work the same mechanism or correctly Jewellers calling in a watchmaker to look at it
  3. HI I am new to the forum so I apologise for any problems in advance. I am desperate for any help that you may be able to give me. I have a Rotary watch that was stopping and starting so i presumed that i needed a new battery. While visiting my aunty in hosp i passed an Event jewellry shop in the corridor and decided to get the battery replaced there as we were passing. The lady took my watch in the back and after 5 mins returned stating that the seconds hand was stuck and she did'nt think the problem was the battery but there was another woman working Sun who had ben working with watchs for twenty years and if i could leave it she would look at it. I did just that and after three days collected it with my partner still to no joy as they said they had tried another battery in it and it still did not work so i took my watch and left the shop. Later that week i took it to my local watch man who after taking the back off saw immedietly that the wax seal was off a screw? and that they had thumbed the battery in and in doing so had broken a cog, in effect rendering my watch useless and needing £50 to repair it. My issue is as no money changed hands and no paperwork where do i stand here. what rights do i have etc... Any help would be very appreciated. Sorry for the long post.
