  4. Few will mourn the passing of the Financial Services Authority (FSA) which closed it's doors on 31st March. It will be mainly remembered as the watchdog that didn't bark. It was seen as reluctant to take action against individuals involved in breaking the rules, be they big or small. It was critcised as too slow, too reactive, too dedicated to its rule book. http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2013/mar/24/farewell-fsa-bleak-legacy-light-touch-regulator The Financial Conduct Authority replaces the FSA and new authority has promised "a renewed focus on consumers" as well

  11. Hello, On 5th Dec 2012 I've received two letters: one from Cabot Financial and another from Ruthbridge Understanding Resolution about outstanding balance £2625.00 for course Sage Line 50 that I've never maid with company Career Development Finance Limited. That company informed Cabot Financial that I opened the account on 13 Jul 2006 and did not default until 20 Feb 2007 and last payment of £75.00 was paid to the account on 21 Aug 2006. The problem is that the course advisor met me in 2006, left booklet, plastic paper clip and I've signed some documents, but few days later, before I

Secondly Id like to ask you for some help with a matter which I have attempted to resolve with my employer for almost 4 months now. To provide a background to the problem I am now facing Ill let you all now that over a period of time my employer overpaid me to the sum of around £2000 as a result of not calculating the changes in payment correctly when I switched from full time to part time hours (a result of myself starting

  18. Hi, just joined today. I'm a single mum of 5, but have 4 at home. I am going through a divorce and hard time and would love to connect with others in a similar situation for support.
  19. First visit to CAG, I got here via an email link and got engrossed in some of the parking issues. Seems there are a lot of bandits around so best to have some friends. Also I read a post about being overpaid at work and was heartened by the number of forum viewers advocating honesty as the best policy. Hopefully I won't need the services too often:-)
  20. Hi there, ive come on here for some advice. I am currently on ESA as i have ME which is a varying condition thats hard to predict. I have tried so hard to find part time work to suit my needs but am failing! i did a 2 month contract a short time ago for 8hrs a week but it was too much as i was standing the whole time and travelling makes my illness worse. I feel like self employment might be the way forward, after all, what have i got to lose right? It would be small and it would be boarding peoples rabbits/small animals whilst they are on holiday .im doing l
  21. Recently I seem to have been inundated by (alleged) debts via letters, phone calls even some dodgy bloke at the door. I was checking out a strange phone number via the internet and found a thread on debt collection agencies and their dubious (and illegal) practices. It was hilarious and scary at the same time. It also mentioned CAG so I decided to join up. Glad I did. After browsing just a tiny amount of the site I feel empowered already.
  22. Hi guys, I may be asking a question that has been asked many times before but i have come to a dead end and need any help that can be given. I bought a car through Yes Car Credit back in June 2005 and finished paying for it in 2009. I remember when i was signing for the car i was told by the woman that i had to pay payment protection and i could not opt out of it. It was between £25-£35 a month (i can't remember exactly) and would like to try and claim it back. My only problem is that i have moved since paying off the car and have none of the paperwork. I'm also unsure if Yes Ca
