  1. Hi Is a TRO a 'Traffic Rule Order' ? I would like to search the register to see what they have as the restriction in that location so I can see it matches the sign - whilst I contemplate what I am to do about this. In the meantime, it would seem that the council have decided that their parking restrictions are too restrictive and have put a sign up indicating a variance to the parking allowed. Now allowing: 1) loading for commercial vehicles 6 am to noon - 2) No Stopping except Taxis between noon and 6 am 3) Shared use of the bay - Good vehicle
  2. Hi I wonder if any of you lovely people can help me? I was making a substantial delivery to a restaurant in Beverly ( Catering/janitorial supplies). I was in my 4x4 as the van was delivering elsewhere. The bay did have a restriction of 'goods vehicles only' but i did not see that. The traffic warden agreed that she could see i was making a substantial delivery but said that i was using the wrong type of vehicle and issued a ticket. I appealed the ticket giving the copy of the delivery note and explaining that the goods are too heavy and many to park in the multi
  3. I have not placed this thread in Insurance, because it is more about experience of using online sites to buy Insurance. Have woken up early and not got back to sleep (annoying) i decided to sort out some Home Insurance. After going through various different sites, Axa, Aviva, Allianz, L&G, Tesco, Halifax, I decided to visit Barclays. Although Barclays use Aviva, the experience of using their site was so much better than all of the companies mentioned including Aviva. The information was so much clearer and the functionality of the site was light years ahead. And Barclays

  6. Hi. A family member would like to know of how to find a good local(ish) employment lawyer to speak to about an employment issue. He is not in a union. Also, a good idea of cost for some initial advice would be good? Thank you in advance.
  7. There are so many internet sites out there, but i do like those with webcams covering wildlife, providing there is something going on. At Slimbridge they have thousands of migrant birds that winter there and between 4pm and about 4.20pm you will see them being fed. The birds feed on the fields and around the river Severn during the day, then return before dark for the daily feed. http://www.wwt.org.uk/wetland-centres/slimbridge/experience/webcam/
  8. Hi everyone My current EDF tariff is due to expire in March and so I've been checking out various providers and tariffs to see what's out there and what's good. A company called Iresa Energy have consistently been showing up at or near the top of every search on every website I've checked. However... I've never heard of them before, and info and customer reviews/ratings seem a little thin on the ground. So I was hoping to glean some advice/info from this wonderful place... Knowing that if you've had a lot of people talking about them on here... that's not always a good thin
  9. Hi all , i have been attending work programme for over a month - and was late for an appointment due to a heavy cold and my provider decided callously to raise a doubt with DWP. recieved a 'good reason letter' asking why i dint attend work programme appt.- how can i successfully challenge this and avoid a sanction. help would be very much appreciated guys!
  10. Hi all. Very briefly, my friend worked for an employer last year who paid him by bank transfer and never gave him a pay slip. My friend resigned at Christmas and since then has sent letters to the employer asking for payment for 2 days worked, 2 days bank holiday pay and 2 days holiday pay. He has since asked me to help him make a claim against his ex-employer. Evidence-wise, we have this: Original advert in local paper Bank Statements showing 7 bank transfers made to my friend's bank account starting on 11.9.2015 and ending 18.12.2015 totalling £4718 Copies of letter and em
  11. Hello I hope you can help - I have someone who is a decent human being but has been put is a difficult situation. Someone else was helping him before but I’ve been called on-board as the other person hasn't got the time. He has been on ESA for a long time, He suffers from severe social anxiety, depression, body image issues and also post-traumatic stress due to many issues; most of which are childhood-related, whereas the traumatic stress (I believe) was relatively recent (5 years ago) due a severe facial injury that required intense facial- reconstr
  12. Hi, I have just received a PCN from "Civil Enforcement" and I wondered if this template was a good one to send as an initial appeal to hope to put this to bed quickly. It seems pretty comprehensive and I thought I'd include it in it's entirety in case it can help others as a useful template/guide to the possible appeals. Is it good or are there any flaws? Thanks!: [removed lengthy templates dx] PCN.pdf Here is my PCN notice. It is unclear whether it is a notice to driver or a notice to keeper. Is this a grounds for appeal? I see that POFA 2012 requires notices to keeper to:
  13. I just ran into something that I want to "brave my self" if something goes wrong. The problem is I am trying to return a phone (quite expensive) I bought online (UK base retailer). The company does not allow to book return over the phone, only on their website. However, I cannot book a return form their website. I email them about the situation, they reply to me that they are looking into it and the problem could take up to 5 working day to fix. That make me confuse is that under Consumer Contracts Regulations (CCR) i have 14 day to told them, which i already did and they accep
  14. http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-35925146 And of course the number is much higher than the ombudsman has recorded – and it is probably very much higher than anyone can possibly imagine. Vodafone is competing with npower for the worst possible systems and the worst possible customer service. Anyone considering getting a new mobile phone contract would do well to avoid Vodafone.
  15. Ok to summarise: Received a DVLA fine for not being Insured, and not on the database. Checked my documents (they had me worried!) I am still insured! Yay. Conacted Insurer who assured me I am insured and they would check db to update it. Sent DVLA my appeal which included photocopy of valid insurance, cover letter and info etc. Received a DVLA Letter saying (this is not verbatim): "We checked with the insurer and there is no evidence of insurance, pay us" With angry haste, contacted my insurance company who said "let me investigate" The
  16. British Summer Time So less than a week after spring has officially sprung and we suddenly find ourselves in British Summer Time. Of course this is nothing to do with the seasonal situation, it's the annual clock change that takes us into Daylight Saving Time. How did this come about and why? http://www.itv.com/news/meridian/2016-03-24/simons-blog-british-summer-time/ Everything you need to know about 100 years of British Summer Time http://www.irishexaminer.com//examviral/fun-times/everything-you-need-to-know-about-100-years-of-british-summer-time-389281.html … In 1947
  17. Friends have been raving about Lidl for ages, but I've yet to bite the bullet. What is the quality of the meat and fish like? I know it's cheap, but is it cheap for a reason? Not sure where they source stuff from. Any thoughts anyone?
  18. Hi All, I am trying to get any information possible on the removal of Settled Accounts that were in good standing from the main credit agencies. I used a well known payday loan company back in 2013 and rolled over the loan a few times and always paid early and in full. Never late and no negative info at all. However fast forward 3 years , I am trying to secure a mortgage and have been refused due to having 6 entries from a specific payday loan lender. Even though they are all settled and paid and closed they underwriters see that as there were 6 entries, that I am a risk !! I
  19. Not sure if anyone can help but am throwing this out there just in case. Bought a 2+3 suite from Very last June on buy now pay later. Payment not due until June 2016 but have been paying it off anyway. A problem started to develop in November when the base and back cushions were distorting so badly that you sank into the corners when sitting down. It was not a cheap suite at £1800 before sale price of £900. I contacted Very who said they would send a specialist out but if no fault was found we'd be charged £45. The inspector came last week and completel
  20. I have been working as agency in a private care provider. The staff get a good cash bonus if their inspections are good. One member of staff told me they were picked to speak to the inspector but chose not to tell all as they wanted their bonus. If they spoke out all the staff would have lost this payout (£500). Is it legal to offer a bonus that would potentially stop people from being honest and/or whisleblowing?

  22. Let The Diet Begin The world is about to go on a carbon diet. It won't be easy — or cheap. Nearly 200 countries across the world on Saturday approved a first-of-its-kind universal agreement to wean Earth off fossil fuels and slow global warming, patting themselves on the back for showing such resolve. 'Historic' Paris climate deal adopted Paris deal met with calls to action from Canadians 5 key points in Paris Agreement On Sunday morning, like for many first-day dieters, the reality sets in. The numbers — like calorie limits and hours needed in the gym — are daunting. M
  23. I sold my house because I was made redundant in my mid-50's and was stuggling to get another job. I did eventually get another job and after three months I contacted my mortgage lender, First Direct, and asked them if in principle they would give me another mortgage if I downsized, with the idea being I would reduce my mortgage from £140k to around £80k. They said they would, so I went ahead with the sale. When I contacted FD again they said they would not lend as I hadn't been employed for at least six months in my new job. So I ended up renting. But was laid off again after another few
  24. I find the media a fickle bunch, who change their views depending on the wind direction. Tom Watson MP was seen as a hero for pursuing allegations about child abuse, but now that some of the alleged victims have had their allegations questionned, Tom is being criticised. The Police have not finished their inquiries yet and it is a bit too early for friends of alleged abusers to start demanding apologies. Because the newspapers keep going on about such stories for days on end, digging at the information, it must put the Police in a very difficult position. And it is not just newspa
  25. Hi all, hoping someone can advise on this please! I have been ordering clothes from an online retailer for around five years now with no problems. On my last order I returned some of the items, only to then receive an email from them saying that one of the items was damaged so they won't be refunding me for that item. I immediately told them that the items were fine when they left me, so they must have been damaged in transit, but despite numerous emails they are refusing to accept that they could be responsible and simply repeat that the item was damaged when returned to them, so it i
