  1. On 11/05/2018 at 12:36 I was amazed to spot a gap in the red and yellow lines on the hospital perimeter road close to the Willow Annexe which I was visiting for pre surgery assessment. Since I have very troublesome arthritic knees and ankles only having a 200 yd walk was like a gift from the gods. The gap in the lines was twice the size my car would need and I assumed that whoever had been parked there must have just moved. I parked up and went off to my appointment. When I came back, to my astonishment there was a ticket on the windscreen. I took some photos to prove I was not on red or yellow lines, got in the car, opened the plastic envelope and found that the accusation was, in fact, "Causing Obstruction". he perimeter road in that area is wide enough for two buses at least to pass each other, I wasn't obstructing the road, and I certainly wasn't obstructing the footpath. Any advice as to whether they can make this stick would be appreciated. I have not yet contacted Liberty Printers who issued the Parking Charge, which says £80 or £40 if paid within 14 days.

  3. George Osborne today announced he is quitting as an MP but will carry on “fighting for that Britain I love” as editor of the Evening Standard. In a letter revealing his decision to Conservatives in his Tatton constituency, he said he was thrilled to be taking charge of “a great newspaper”. The former Chancellor, 45, made plain that he intends to stay active in political debates on issues he is passionate about. And he hinted he could make a political comeback in future, saying he was leaving Westminster “for now”. Stepping Down-Quitting all the same to me. http://www.standard.co.uk/news/politics/george-osborne-quits-as-mp-saying-he-is-leaving-westminster-for-now-a3518001.html

  6. Have you ever had a spell on Universal Credit. About 6 weeks i lasted.Got sanctioned within really the first 2 days. To much paperwork for the old owl.To take in quickly and it was in the first week of UC arriving in my town. Missed a appointment. Spent more money going there than benefit received. But i did realise the help it could provide as well, courses and help with CVS etc,and a combination of benefits under one roof. But at nearly 60 felt embarrassed and out of place at times. And really felt that pressurised i will not say intimidated because that would take some doing i just left it in the end.Asked some of the advisors if they liked their jobs. Their eyes said many things.Maybe they get pressure,i did not hang around to long.Bad atmosphere.Deep down,my experience anyway. I feel i must be the oldest sanctioned person in the UK. And when sanctioned for some who do not understand things so well, you could very well starve, feel alone, left out.Terrible for those that live alone,no friends around to help. The vulnerable people in society. Some would walk out not really understanding things, and do not like creating a fuss. And suffer in silence. "I have dodgy heart" "That is ok you go on security course old owl, chase those shoplifters down the road." "When you stop one i suppose you will say" "Before you hit me over the head with that stolen whisky bottle sir or madam be careful i bleed heavily because of medication i am on". Enough of that it is now in the past.I came on to post a story. Not really talking about that it is the thought of possible cuts to this. It is said That Ian Duncan Smith feels this is one step to far. Now i never thought i would hear him say or think that. If behind closed doors he is saying that things are serious. A link that explains things. Labour hits out at Osborne's planned cuts to universal credit Opposition says families will be worse off if taper rate is raised by chancellor, with dissent also evident among Conservatives http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2015/nov/08/labour-hits-out-at-george-osbornes-planned-cuts-to-universal-credit
  7. About 1430 hours today, Monday 22 December 2014, a Glasgow City Council bin lorry was travelling north on Queen Street when it appeared to strike pedestrians outside the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) before continuing to travel towards George Square, when it crashed at the Millennium Hotel on Queen Street at George Square. I would like to wish those injured a speedy recovery and my heart goes out to those that sadly lost loved ones condolences.
  8. He and his staff held only standard class tickets, but sat in first class. They initially refused to pay the difference in fares, (£160 each). Fortunately, the conductor didn't allow himself to be bullied, and extracted £160 from both of them... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-20008342 Such a shame there wasn't a PACE trained RPI that morning... Osborne would have went the same way as Mitchell. (Held 2 x Advance Standard tickets, booked train only - however, he chose to get a different train as well as sitting in a different class, refused to move to standard class, and then refused to pay for 1st). Probably could have got a Section 5 to stick... definitely Byelaw 19. Still £320 and some bad publicity...
