  1. Yesterday, some money - cash - was paid into my account via a cashier in a branch. I checked my online banking later and sure enough the money appeared in my account as you would expect. However, this morning I checked my bank account and saw that the cash I had paid in the day before had mysteriously vanished! I went into the branch and they told me not to worry - apparently the NatWest branch have just "borrowed the money to balance their branch books" and that the money will reappear in my account by the end of the day. Sure enough the money has reappeared today and is marked as "Transfer" with yesterday's date. Obviously I'm not very happy about this at all and before I write to my bank I just wondered if anybody has experienced this before. As far as I can see, there's no small print on my bank's T&Cs which say that NatWest can take my cash as and when they want! Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks.
  2. I'm in desperate need of some advise from someone, I have searched the Internet for hours trying to find a case similar to mine but I haven't managed to find anything that's helped. Sorry for the length of this but it's a complicated story. I suffer from social phobia, panic attacks, depression and self harm, because of this I am unable to work and clam benefits. I receive dla, hb, ctb, and income support. In 2008 I moved into a flat with my boyfriend, at the time he worked full time and I had just started to receive DLA and IS a month or so before we moved into the flat (we were not on HB/CTB at this time). I filled in a change of address form as soon as we moved in and on it I said my partner was living there too, all I heard back from this was a conformation letter saying my details had been updated so I thought everything was fine and that because I was receiving IS based on incapacity that it didn't matter that my partner was living with me and working, I know that sounds really silly and dumb but I was under so much pressure at the time that I just wasn't in the right frame of mind to think straight. After about 7 months of us living together my partner had to stop working and stay at home to care for me as he was constantly having to leave work because I'd self harmed etc so we thought it best he stay with me. So at this point we applied for HB and CTB which we got. Then in June this year I found out that my partner could get carers allowance for taking care of me full time so we applied for that and got it, I received a letter from IS telling me my money was being reduced because he was getting carers allowance, which was fine as I knew that would happen. But then a few weeks ago my partner went to the cash machine to get the IS out only to find it hadn't been paid in and when he phoned then they said they had been given information from the carers allowance people saying that he lived with me and that we had to fill in a form with his details to add him to my is claim before they would pay anymore money. so we filled in the form and sent it back as soon as we got it. we heard nothing for a week until last Thursday we had a missed call from the IS people, when my partner called them back they said they needed to know the date he moved into the flat as it wasn't on the form but when my partner was talking to them he mentioned that he had been working when we first were living here, they then said I shouldn't have been getting IS for that period and it would have to be investigated further and they asked us to sent them a letter saying when and where he worked etc and were unable to make a decision on our claim until they had investigated it. We sent them a letter with the details they asked for but I am worried sick about what's going to happen now. I honestly didn't think I had done anything wrong, obviously I thought they knew about my partner as I put his name on forms and he always talked to them on the phone for me etc so I thought they knew. Do you think they will see what happened as benefit fraud? If they do what action are they likely to take and what effect will this have on our other benefits? We are not receiving any IS at the moment and do not have enough money to live on and to pay the bills etc, do you think our is will be stopped permanently? I was originally hoping that we would get our IS paid this week sometime but now I'm worried it will be stopped permanently and that I might get a fine or worse, also I'm terrified that I might have to go for an interview as with my social phobia and panic attacks etc this would be really difficult for me to do. I would be really grateful for any advice etc. Thanks.
  3. Hi Guys, A couple of years ago, probably three, my flatmate was mis-sold a mobile phone by a local con-man. In essence, he informed my mate the three month intro offer was the terms of the deal! He went to jail for it, as my flat mate clearly wasn't the only one - he conned loads of other students as well. This particular instance was never reported to the Police, though, but I believe some obviously where. My friend cancelled the contract. It shows up as clear on his credit report, though there are some missed payments before it shows as settled. There are no defaults, so Court action can easily be defended on that basis alone!! Now I am not too bothered about a claim form turning up, God knows how many of those have gone away when they found they didn't have the paperwork - but this is much more recent than my debts, and the lad has a pretty good credit report, but he is fretting about this. Any suggestions about how to deal with this, as the lad is really good with money and this is really stressing him out. I am thinking perhaps go to the Police to see if they can confirm that there was a crime reported, and the fella found guilty. If I can get that info confirmed, then I think it should be relatively easy to manage (with help from CAGers like YOU!!), to get confirmation from Three that this was fraud, get rid of Red in the process then get the CRA's to sort their issue out. Or what about going to the Finanical Ombudsmen (after writing a load of letter to Red that will abv be ignored) and going about it that way. Bit off the beaten track, but thanks for your input!! Blurred:)
  4. I have been working for my employer, a supermarket for nearly 2 years. In the summer, our store had self scan tills installed. During the training, a person outside the company did it and showed all the screens. On the reused bags screen, a colleague asked on the lines of 'Whats there to stop you from entering the maximum number of bags everytime you use it?' The trainer laughed and said 'How much is few points extra to (supermarket). I work on the checkouts. On Saturday, I clocked in as per usual and reported to the supervisor station at the checkouts. Line Manager was there and asked me to go the Managers Office. In the office, I was told by the deputy store manager that out of the 40 times I have used the ss tills since they became live, I have inputted the maximum number of bags 22 times. He had print outs of my loyalty card transactions from the past 4 months. I was in a state of shock and was then forced to write down names of colleagues that were doing this as well as I commented that others were doing it. I was in shock and put names down which I couldn't acknowledge if they done it and put ? by those names. I was then suspended on full pay til further notice The thing is I have seen customers doing this as well. As an employee, I have been caught as I swipe my discount card after swiping my loyalty card. I reckon it happens across all stores and all those stores that reward extra points for reusing their own bags. I have my investigation on Thursday - won't get an outcome on that day. I feel bad, angry and ask why was I the one being caught. As part of the suspension rules, I am not allowed to talk to colleagues and visit the store. A few hours of me being suspended, I met up with the union rep - who works on checkouts at a pub carpark, 150 yards from work. Guess who walks past us? My favourite colleague who is such a dear friend to me. She asked what was I doing in my civvies with (UR's name) when I was at work. I said, 'I can't talk'. Her face sank. It was the most painful thing I have seen unrelated to illness and grieving for a love in anyone's face. It breaks my heart being unable to tell her or see her during the process. It looked like her heart was breaking too. At times of need and help, I am unable to get it! I am so worried that I will get dismissed. I will tell the deputy manager that I am regretting my actions, am ashamed and apologise. The thing is I did notice when I visited another store today. The manned tills' keypad has 123 as the top line of numbers. The ss tills top row is 789. I normally use 3 bags (as I walk home) and I just pressed the top right hand number on the bags reused without looking at the screen. I cannot justify this as a reason for all transactions - especially those that are just a few quid! Ok for £15. I am dyslexic and recently had an eye op where I had 2 weeks off sick. One of the problems with my eye condition pre and post op is that I experience bad glare. The angle of the ss screens along with the lights above them make them difficult to read at various angles, depending on which ss till I use. I don't have an issue working on manned tills as I can adjust the height and tilt of the screen. The ss tills are fixed. I did post a thread on another website forum and many posters kept mentioning my dyslexia and eye condition are just excuses. Work will not tell my colleagues why I'm not at work. They will say I am sick. I don't phone in sick willy nilly and this will raise suspicions This is really getting me down. I am fed up, unable to discuss this with my parents as they would make matters worse, unable to talk to my colleagues and cannot relax. I have times where I just cry - I am not a crying person and want to keep my job.
  5. My apologies if this has been asked 100 times before...i have searched... I rent a house to 2 people i work with. For a long time, letters have been coming to my address to someone that doesnt live here. I put it down to the last owner of the house having some 'stragglers'...until i opened one. It was for a new bank account, containing a credit card. I left the open letter on the coffee table. The next day, there was a note left saying "Guys, please don't open any more letters addressed to ......, as they are for me" Alarm bells rang. I quizzed my female housemate as to why someone is opening an account to my address, to which she replied "it's ok, it's just the one account, i wanted to get an iphone". Stupidly, i didn't persue it. From then on, any letters addressed to this guy that came, i opened. Each one was from a bank saying "You have reached your credit limit of £2000, please pay us our money". I now have 12 different debt collection notices from different people. I phoned the banks fraud teams, stated that person has never lived at my address, and how the hell were they able to open an account? I thought you had to have proof of address? They couldn't give me a straight answer. I went to the police, who flatly told me "sorry sir, we no longer deal with fraud, please call this number..." I called the fraud advice line who said "sorry sir, as it's not in your name specifically, then no crime has been comitted so really we cant do anything" Next thing, i'm getting letters from the DVLA, and tax discs for this guys car. Is there anything i can do? I dont want to be answering the door to a different set of bayliffs every week? The thing is, the guy has tried to redirect the mail from my house, it shows the address he's currently living at and i have the registration of his car. I have letters that show he's run up at least £20K of debt and isnt paying it, and nobody seems bothered at all! He's the boyfriend of one of my tenents mother. How should i proceed?
  6. Well here are the basic facts: What are my chances of putting up a fight? Arrived in Barcelona 20/08/2010 Blackberry stolen Sat 21/08/2010 @ 02.30am BT were contacted by my family in the UK Sat 21/08/2010 @ 1pm - told by BT" that they could not block the phone until Monday 23/08/2010 because it was a business contract -not private. That department only opens Mon-Fri." Police report filed 22/08/2010 @12.30pm. Arrived back in UK 22/08/2010 @20.30pm BT business section contacted by my employers 22/08/2010 @09.00am. Told by BT that several thousand pounds worth of calls were made to the Middle East after 2.30am. ____________________________________________________________ I think they have me on the T&C's as being responsible for all calls until reported to/blocked by BT. No PIN block. ______________________________________________________________________________ I think I have to focus on the fact that the BT customer support team failed to direct the caller on my behalf to a department that could actually block the phone 24/7 or at least supply them with an emergency number. I think that as the BT rep gave incorrect information which ultimately allowed the bill to soar further. If I had of contacted the same BT rep at 02.31 just after the theft - I would have received the same wrong advice! We can prove that the call took place but I'm not sure we prove what was said - unless they actually do record the calls- in which case how can I get that recording? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I know all about how silly I am, and that the BT has rights, and that there are people who will try to screw them. I'm not trying to screw them - I'm just looking for a bit of help! Thanks in advance for any help.
