  1. A lot is being made about a golf club only allowing men as members. Is this such a great issue or should we been concerned about a bigger picture ?..
  2. A friend just sent me this A friend just sent me this A SPANISH Teacher was explaining to her class that in Spanish, unlike English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine. 'House' for instance, is feminine: 'la Casa.' 'Pencil,' however, is masculine: 'el lapiz.' A student asked, 'What gender is 'computer'?' Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two groups, male and female, and asked them to decide for themselves whether computer' should be a masculine or a feminine noun. Each group was asked to give four reasons for its recommendation. The men's group decided that 'computer' should definitely be of the feminine gender ('la computadora'), because: 1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic; 2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else; 3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible later retrieval; and 4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your salary on accessories for it. (THIS GETS BETTER!) The women's group, however, concluded that computers should be Masculine ('el computador'), because: 1.. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on; 2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves; 3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem; and 4.. As soon as you commit to one, you realise that if you had waited a little longer, you could have got a better model. The women won.
  3. I have been plagued by this company for the last three years. I am the unlucky recipient of a recycled land line number from BT. it is like pulling teeth with this company as they lack any sort of basic cognitive response to rectifying a simple dispute. I have gone through their complaints procedure for which they say sorry and my phone number has been removed, only to start up again six months later This is now going to end one way or another, i have been nice, now it is war. Who the hell do these people think they are to intimidate and bully. The person in question they are after is female, i am the male of the species and live alone for which Robbbers way are fully aware
  4. The company I work for has a track record of not really giving a damn about it's employees, until they need something from them. For the past decade or so, every Christmas, the company gives all of the female employees an expensive bottle of wine and gift vouchers for a few hundred pounds. But the male staff get nothing (doing the exact same job by the way). Even a new member of staff (who only started 3 weeks prior to Christmas) got the wine and gift vouchers, and of course she's female. It certainly seems discriminatory to me on the grounds of sex, but is it illegal? I don't mind everyone getting the bonus, but just feel like its a kick in the teeth that only the female employees get it...if we all got a bonus that would be fine. I look forward to your replies.
