  1. I'm in the middle of quite a few PPI negotiations with various credit card companies that I have got involved with over the years. One of them is American Express. They made a written settlement offer to me and I signed the acceptance and returned it. I thought that was the end of it. I am now waiting for the eight weeks it allegedly takes for them to refund the money. Today I received the following letter from them. Thank you for your signed acceptance offer received by this office on 21 May 2012. In the final response my colleague explained that he would offer you a premiums refund of x and interest of y. However, having reviewed the case I can confirm that the refunds amounts provided are incorrect due to an administration error. The correct premiums refund is x1 along with interest of y1 which totals z. (The premiums element is £300 less than originally stated and naturally the interest amount has reduced too.) I understand you have now signed the acceptance and agreed to the amount of x+y however, according to guidelines, we are only able to refund the premiums that have been billed to your account. For this reason we will refund the true figure of z. I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience that this may have caused and in light of our error we will include a £50.00 credit as a gesture of good will. Etc. etc. I have never heard anything like it in my life. Can they do this? I was unaware of the amount of PPI involved when I received their written offer and I accepted it in good faith. Surely they should pay the amount we agreed? To add insult to injury the letter I received today is dated 11 May 2012 which, given its opening line, takes their incompetence to even higher levels! Can you please advise me where I stand on this? Do I have to now accept the reduced amount? Thanks for any advice.
  2. Hi there everyone, A while ago I had an issue with Payday Express which resulted in me defaulting on my account. I promptly paid them what I owed and I thought everything was resolved.. Until I checked my credit report However, I never received a default notice thus challenged this after noticing it on my credit report. The information was also incorrect including the amount and date. Months and months went past and I eventually received a letter from them stating that they had looked into it and wouldn't remove it. I wrote back explaining that this wasn't satisfactory and never got a response, despite calling the company several times and being told it had not been sent yet. I recently contacted them to find out what was going on as I know there is a time limit for raising a complaint with the ombudsman. They emailed me stating that they had sent me a letter (on the 30th of Jan) and enclosed a file, upon inspecting it further and looking at the meta data this seems to be incorrect and would suggest they are lying to me. Does anyone have any advice on this? I really want to raise this with the financial ombudsman but I think I have left it too long. Also, has anyone ever dealt with Gillian Maher?
  3. Hi there. I got into trouble with about 5 payday loan companys. All but payday express put me on repayment plans straight away and now I only have themselves and 1monthloan to pay back. It's well documented on these forums that express are really unhelpful and really hard to work with. They have refused my repayment offers and I've ended up rolling over the balance about 4 times now (pretty sure I have payed off my original loan amount plus some by now) I just wanted to ask you guys if I have lost my rights for repayment plans as I lied on my loan application. I am on disability allowance and applied for these payday loans as I was struggling around xmas and they spiraled out of control. I put on my payday express application that I was full time employed. They did not bother to check these facts (none of them ever do?). I did tell them the truth when it came to me not having enough for their horrible 'extend fee's' and since then they have treaten me like sh*t. Hanging up on me, harrasing with phonecalls until i either pay the full amount or roll it over. They have even dipped into my account without telling me (card cancelled and new one requested) Am I in the wrong for lying? Im sure i'm not the only one who has done this as they bombard us with adverts everywhere and I was desperate. Thanks.
  4. Hello, i'm wondering if you can help. At the start of the year i took out a paypday loan with Express Payday. Orignial Loan - £300 Amount owed inc interest - £400 Deferred several times without notice which resulted in £100 x3 months. By August £729.99 was owed. This is £429.99 in interest. On 23rd August £243.33 was paid. On 23rd September £120.00 was paid. This is a total of £360.33 paid in total. I have never had any correspondence from them just hassling phone calls at work at which i decided to set up a payment plan. I never received a default notice from them and today i check my credit report and on the 25/09/2011 they have set x2 defaults for the account. I can't understand this as i only had 1 loan with them and i agreed to pay it and the extreme interest. EXPRESS FINANCE LT... Pay Day Loans Default £332 25/09/2011 EXPRESS FINANCE LT... Pay Day Loans Default £155 25/09/2011 Any advise would be great. Thanks.
  5. I am currently in dispute with PAyday express over an account i have never had with them. i now find that they have made a credit search without my permission. I have contacted credit expert who have contacted payday express and they say its accurate etc and that they can only put a correction and not remove the search. I belive payday express have done this to try and damage my credit file what action can i take against payday express\experian to get this removed from my credit file.
  6. I'm wondering whether anyone here knows this company? I have googled, unable to locate their company, however did find information regrettably from USA they maybe working for debt collectors! Today a man representing National Express Deliveries (this was embroidered on his jacket), asking whether an individual lived at this address (me)? As last week a parcel went to an address 10 doors away and obviously delivered to the wrong person. He then said he was in the area and his firm asked him to check the address details so the parcel could be delivered next week at a time convenient to me. Two worrying points really; 1. Who are these people 2. I am not waiting for a parcel delivery If someone has encountered a similar experience please share, and more importantly if you know what they are up to.
