  1. Hi all, my first post here so hoping I am in the right place Its a bit long winded but I will try to be concise as possible. I work in local authority in care centre. The same group has a number of similar centres throughout the County. We have recently been subject to management restructuring and additional responsibilities have been added to my role and other staff who do the same role as me in the other locations. We also have regular review meetings where we get together and share ideas to standardise our policies and operating procedures throughout all the centres, so we all work the same way. However, at these meetings I have discussed working hours with other staff doing this role, and find that whilst my contracted hours are 18, most of the others are on 25hrs/week. I raised this with management several months ago, both verbally and in writing, requesting that my contract be reviewed to align me with my peers. This was verbally acknowledge with a "we will look into this" but I have heard nothing more since. I have also recently discovered that when I was recruited, I was put on a higher pay grade than my peers, through employer error, which I had no idea. I suspect that they are holding off increasing my hours as they are already paying me more than everyone else for the same role, but that does not give me more time to complete my work so is not a valid reason. I am struggling to keep up with my daily tasks and finding it very stressful that I have to rush and make mistakes/forget things due to time limitations. I am looking for alternative employment as I feel I cannot continue doing this job successfully on the hours given, but feel I shouldn't have to go through this upheaval if they just agreed to increased hours. I also suspect that should I leave, my post will be re-advertised at correct pay and 25hr contract to sort this anomaly. What are my rights here? It is their mistake that I am higher paid for the same job, but that doesn't enable me to complete the work in less time, so feel I am being discriminated against. I feel its verging on constructive dismissal, but I know the terms needed to apply this are very specific. Any advice appreciated, thank you
  2. Hello, sorry if this isn't the right place to post this. I am pay Grade 1 and am currently being made to do pay Grade 2 work and was wondering if this is legal or allowed? The work I am carrying out will take between 4-11 days I am an administrator and am currently doing the work of an assessor in another department because "needs of the business". My contract doesn't state anything about the fact I may be required to do different pay grade work if the needs of the business requires it, it just mentions doing work depending on the needs of the business, the pay is not mentioned but I took this as work I am qualified to do and within the same pay grade. Other administrators are also doing Debt Response work which is a higher pay grade too and I feel us admins are having the pee took out of us because we are the lowest paid in the company. If this isn't allowed, can anyone direct me to any literature. Thanks
  3. Hi, I have received CC papers for a debt owing to Moriarty Law on behalf of MotorMile Finance. The total amount is for £350 for a loan taken out in 2013. I have sent in a defence saying that I do not recognise the debt and requesting further information. I have received a letter from Moriarty Law with photocopies of their paperwork. I now have a mediation appointment booked for next week. I am worried because firstly I have never been to court before and it scares me. Secondly, the paperwork does not look correct. The signature in the box that I am supposed to have signed is definitely not mine. They say that they paid the money into an account number XXXXXXXX, but I have changed banks since 2013 and I don't know if it is mine or not. It is possible that this is genuine, I have had payday loans before, but there is also a chance that it isn't (the fake signature is what worries me most). What should I say in mediation? I don't want to end up with a CCJ. I can't afford to pay £350 and I am also disabled so going to court will end up a nightmare as my nearest is the other side of a different county. If I offer them something like £25 as a gesture without admitting liability do you think that they will go away?
  4. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/16/world/australia/henderson-island-plastic-debris-south-pacific.html?_r=0 One lady has already made an attempt at doing this and her story is in the article linked below. https://www.theguardian.com/money/2017/may/27/cut-plastic-weekly-shop-family#comment-99268926 IMHO, unless big business ceases to produce non recyclable plastics and Local Authorities continue to dump this stuff in land fill then we are going to continue to destroy the seas and land.
  5. So yesterday I was taking a look at my Noddle credit report and when I checked the section for previous searches I noticed that in early July there were about 21 searches all done on the same date. I was rather puzzled by this and at first I thought something serious was going on, but when I checked the names and Purpose of the searches it began to click. The purpose was mostly "General Insurance" but some were marked as "Identification Check" and "Quotation Search", and the names were things like, "Lexisnexis Risk Solutions Uk Limited Insurance Quote - Www.Lexisnexis.Com/Ukconsumer" "Covea Insurance Plc (Cr Bsb) Provident Insurance (Cr Bsb Api)" "Quote Me Happy.Com" And other Insurancy sounding names. And then it hit me, that was when I was searching comparison websites because my car insurance was coming up for renewal! Now I know I searched a few comparison sites, but 21 searches? Digging a little deeper I found that some of them also seemed to be for my previous address that I haven't lived at for nearly 3 years. It seems that old companies are keeping my details on file and even years later they're running searches, even if they don't seem to be contacting me about it. Even weirder, the date of birth shown on some of the searches is my brothers rather than my own. I have run insurance searches for him with his details, but that was also his name and address (Just in the same browser session) so something seems to be going wrong there with the same browser session not changing all details. This all just seems a little strange to me. Should a comparison site be running credit searches like this just for me getting some quotes? Should insurance companies be carrying out credit searches even years later like this? Could 21 searches on the same day, even if they're of these types, have a potential short term impact on my credit score?
  6. Hi there was coming down a hill in east sussex and there was a police van waiting by the side of the road and a speed gun. The offence took place last thursday so over a week ago and I havent recieved anything in the post. Thanks for any advice and/ or help, much appreciated. BB
  7. No doubt you have all seen it on the news that an ex army man has been arrested in connection with a death on bloody Sunday in NI. How absolutely disgusting is this as they not only freed all the murdering IRA but gave them top jobs in the parliament. Now this really is what you call Micky Mouse justice.
  8. I like going out to markets.Having a look around. Listening to what people are saying. The banter ,the friendship, feel the atmosphere of the market. The massive variety of goods. A special place. I have noticed in our local market some are struggling. In fact a few are leaving in trouble, owing rent etc. Some have done moonlight flits.Perhaps to scared or embarrassed to face things and certain people. After trying so hard. Perhaps many are just scraping through not making much at all for the graft they put in.And hours worked. So if you are a market trader or know a market trader in your town or city how are things going. Do you think the pound shops, the low cost supermarkets that sell everything that have arrived in the last few years have affected you.Do you think anything lately has affected you. Is your rent fair or do you feel to steep. Choking any hope of profit for you. Did you have a dream that came true. Or did your dream turn into a nightmare for you. Do you think your rent is to high. For the space you have. Are you tied into a long contract, years perhaps. And after a short time you realise it is not going to work and can not get out of the situation. What help and advice was given to you. Before you signed papers, contract, rent agreement ,things like that. If someone before you has tried the same products and failed are you told this may not be a good idea. Maybe you are doing well. Good on you if you are. How are the people next to you doing. Do you feel like changing what you are selling but not able to because of rules. Are you being chased for rent by the market manager. Dreading the day off the week he or she comes round. How do they try to help you if you have found yourself in this situation. He or she obviously knows what is going on. Do you know anybody who has fled, overnight after trying so hard. Just wondering what is going on in your market. In your town or city. Is your market busy or have things gone quiet for the last year or two. What do you think caused things to go quiet. What would you like to change in your market. To help you perhaps.Advertising more, improvements to the market, painting, appearance anything you can think off. Is your market thriving, booming. What do you think made this happen. And why. What caused the upturn. Help others with your experiances Have the Bailiffs ever been in your market to a stressed, worried trader and possessed everything. The dream of being a entrepreneur gone. How has it affected your household, are you in trouble but keeping quiet, just holding on by your fingertips. Do you think if your rents are to high it is time for you to group together and say enough, give us a chance. A united front. Just wondering that is all. Wondering how something that has been in Great Britain so long is doing. From the people that matter the Traders.. If you are a customer of the markets, feel free to pop in and have your say. Without your support the Traders would really be in trouble. Get in there and support them.Feel the atmosphere, check things out. If you are outside looking in a link for you to have your say.Only takes a minute or two. http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/register.php 2.14AM Time to fly. Bye for now Tawnyowl.
  9. Hi, My good friend has been on sickness benefit for a long time at one point she was on dla too. It may have change and she may just be on a pension now, I do not know but will find out. she was taken very ill and is in hospital. However they say they will release her soon. However there are some urgent functional problems in her home that have not been repaired that need repairing plus lesser urgent but equally important work needs doing maybe costing altogether £5,000 upwards. This is aside from cosmetic re decorating that seriously needs doing too. I recall a lady on the programme 'benefits street' got a benefit loan of a £1,000 which she pays back in small amounts, to redecorate her house from orange to purple. What benefits, emergency funding etc. is available? I can pitch in and help, but sadly I can not pay for the work to be done which I would prefer to just be rich so I could just have it all done in a few days for her! Thanks in advance, Clear33
  10. I now see Perfect Homes is doing similar to Brighthouse with this new PerfectCare they have brought out. I wonder if the FCA will be looking into this company also.
  11. Does anyone know what Atos have gotten into since walking away from the DLA fiasco? Believe it or not they are or may be running/managing the Child Care Payments from HMRC with National Savings and Investments (NS&I) The reason for this is whilst watching a case in the Supreme Court (SC) recorded cases "TV" here https://www.supremecourt.uk/watch/uksc-2015-0080/130515-am.html It now appears they are getting involved in the child care market? If you want to know more please follow the above link and have a look for yourself. This case was heard in the SC on the 31/03/2015, if they manage to do with the Child Care Payments as they did with DLA I wonder what could happen..... Any thoughts? The attachment is from here http://www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWCA/Civ/2015/326.html
  12. Hi all again, sorry if I've put this in the wrong place but not sure where it would go. My sister's partner has been working at [removed] for about 5 years now, and he's brought to my attention that he believes he's not being payed for the hours he is working. Now he starts work at 8am and only finishes when "the job is done" which is normally half 5 to 6pm. He gets weekly payslips and he's latest pay slip (21/11/14) says: TAXABLE PAY: 260.85 NON-TAXABLE: PAY 0.00 TOTAL PAY: 260.85 INCOME TAX: 13.60 NATIONAL INSURANCE: 12.94 NET PAY: 234.31 TAX CODE: 1000L Now in the hours column it doesn't have any hours in it at all. Surly the company has to put the hours he works. As always any advice is much appreciated. Thanks Andrew
  13. I work backshift, driving for a total of 5 hours, It is not possible for me to have a break during my 'run' which starts 2 hours into my shift. Am I entitled to a break before my 'run' starts.

  15. Hi there Lowell served me with a SD a couple of months back - I missed the deadline so didn't do anything about it and haven't heard from them since. 16. Hi, I was caught speeding on the M42 doing 58mph by the speed cameras that appear overhead around Birmingham. It was right after the M6 toll road that leads onto the M42 motorway. There were only 2 of the overhead speed lights that were showing 50mph and all others were off. It was late on a Sunday afternoon, there was road works, there was very light traffic. It wasn't raining, visibility was good. Does anyone know whether I have grounds for an appeal on the basis of Warwickshire police providing evidence as to why they decided to change the speed limit of around about a 200 meter stretch on the motorway from 70mph to 50mph? For me, it just doesn't make sense. Thanks for any reply Dave
