  1. I was at the university yesterday, I used to work there, I remember another company doing the the tickets before, and there was no pay and display then, so I also advised students not to back down, and just ignore! That was always successful, never know any to be taken to court, as I explained reasons from here, also why should they pay for parking when paying for accommodation and even the workers having to pay. Well I seen this sign in a pay and display on University grounds: My question is if they do not pay, do the same rules apply as IGNO|RE!! Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  2. I came across this pdf which I found to be very interesting. probably has been posted previously but a search never brought up anything. vehicle_control_services_v_hmrc.pdf

  4. Hi all, I've received a 'Parking Charge Notice' through the post from VCS for: 'Parking/Waiting on a roadway where stopping is prohibited' at the airport. I did stop for a minute to drop someone off, but on the main road, not in any private car park. There were double yellow lines, but can a Private car parking company enforce a fine for this when I didn't stop in their area? I have read some threads concerning these charges, thanks for those, but just think mine might be a bit different because of the double yellows so thought I'd ask for advice. The notice does have a photograph of my car, but all it shows is my car, on a road somewhere, and nothing around it. If this is all the evidence they have,a photo of my car which could have been taken anywhere, can they proceed anyway? Thanks in anticipation.
  5. Hi - my hubby was issued a ticket by Parking Control Management for parking on a private road. Is there anyway we can appeal? We have lived in the area for 6 years now and have on occasion used the road for parking - there is also a Quick Fit on the otherside of the road so they must use the parking at some stage. There are no markings for parking bays and there was another car parked there. There is a sign that says private road and no parking with out a permit but is not very clear when you are turning left into the road as the curb is sort of pointed (like a V) with roads on either side. The gentleman (being kind calling him that) was sitting in his car across the road so saw us park. Also on the notice he has signed it and in the bit where it says ID/Licence no he has put a dash, is that legal or does he have to have an id number. We only went to the pet shop so were about 10 minutes. The fine is £60 or £100 after 14 days. Its a lot of money - is there anything we can do?????
  6. 7. Santander had basically messed me around in one form or another since they took over my old bank, so I had decided to leave them. I didn't owe them anything (no overdraft etc), so decided to move all my direct debits to my new bank. Unfortunately one direct debit for my mobile phone was a real pain to move and despite several phone calls to my provider (and them saying it had changed) would still come out of my old Santander account. On one occasion I didn't have enough money in there making me £21 into an 'unarranged overdraft'. I've only got myself to blame but I left it and having changed everything over to my new bank, wasn't reading the statements -until I checked the old account and it is now around £400 with all the charges that have built up. I received one letter from a debt company, so now think it's gone to them. Anything I can send to Santander to get them to remove the charges? I'm prepared to pay the £21 I owe.
  8. Hi, On Sunday 7th Oct I decided to spend the day looking for cars. There was a car I really liked at a reputable garage in Bristol, so I drove to the garage to go and have a look at the car. Upon arrival I was informed that the car I had originally come to view was actually in the garage being serviced and prepped for sale.. In the meantime another car caught my eye. I asked about the car and showed my interest.. The salesman took me back into the office to find out more information about the vehicle that had caught my eye on the forecourt. This car had finance fall through and therefore no information was available on the website. However, the salesman offered to show me around the car and look first hand.. I really liked, so much I wanted to test drive it, which I did.Whilst on the test drive I asked the salesman "is the car fitted with cruise control?" his reply was "yes, but it doesn't work at slow speeds. You're not allowed to exceed 50 mph on trade plates". I took this as a verbal confirmation. When I returned to the garage from the test drive I was greeted by their finance manager who offered me a 5 year finance deal on the car, which was too expensive and didn't allow me to have any money from my old car. I wanted to sell my car privately as I was convinced I could get more money from a private sale (he offered me £3400 I was looking for a minimum of £5000) as I have £2,500 I needed to pay off before I was to get a new car. I could put the other of the £2,500 I was expecting from the sale of my car as a deposit on the finance. Anyway, he did some calculations and he was able to meet my monthly repayment budget and offer me back £2,500 on my part exchange which was excellent. I signed the deposit and arranged to pick up my car the next day. I went to pick up my car on the Monday after work and I could barely hold my excitement in. The salesman allowed to have a once over of the car before signing all of the finance documents. Again, I asked about how to activate/set the cruise control and the salesman said "It will be on the lever here, do you want me to go and get the car handbook?" I said "No", not wanting to waste any more time.. Presuming at that point that the car would surely have cruise control. Anyway, I drove the car away with a big smile on my face. I drove to my mum's to show her the car. She lives on the other side of town so it requires a motorway trip. "Brilliant", I thought, as I was driving down the motorway I was struggling to work out how to use the cruise control so I asked my partner in the passenger seat to look in the car handbook. I was horrified when there was an extra lever illustrated in the handbook that wasn't featured on my car. The next day I rang up to chase the cheque I was waiting to collect for the £2,500 cashback the salesman offered me for my part exchange. I also mentioned that I'm really happy with the car but that I had one problem, the cruise control. Because of the nature of my business, this is almost a bare essential on any new car I would purchase. The salesman said, "Oh, I'm not sure what we can do about that, come in tonight to pick your cheque up and we'll talk about it". Cautious that big garages have vast backing of legal teams I rang my local citizens advise Bureau to explain my situation as above who said I have two options... To go to the garage and ask for a remedy to my problem (I.E - ask them to fit cruise control or refund me the value to fit cruise control). Alternatively I can request either money back or an exchange for a vehicle of the same value.. Loaded with this information, I returned to the garage knowing I'm fully within my rights to get either or.. I discussed it with the salesman who agreed that I mistakenly told me the car had cruise control, I explained whether it's a mistake or not, I need a vehicle with cruise control. He agreed and spoke to someone higher up. After conferring for about 10 minutes, the person higher up came over and said they will check and see what they can do and will let me know by telephone the next day. I apologise for blabbing, but I thought it would be best that everyone was familiar with the situation. My question is where do I stand if the following happens: - they offer to cancel my finance agreement (what are my rights to getting my original car back) - they offer to fit cruise control at their cost (is it legally required to be done by a dealer or approved garage) What else can I expect from the garage when they come back to me?
  9. we booked a holiday last oct, 2011 for this aug 2012, with hoseasons. we did this on the low deposit offer they had on at the time of booking. because i work for the nhs i should have got some sort of discount and had to ring through for this to be applied. after thinking all was well, we sat back. we recieved no confirmation of booking via email or mail. several weeks went by and still nothing. i rang them and informed them that i still had no confirmation and wanted that details of the booking and when to pay. still nothing although i was told they did send it though and i should check my junk mail. althogether i must have rung them about 3-4 times asking for this and giving them two other email address. AND STILL NOTHING. i decided to give it up for a bad job and aranged an alternative for the family. i have now just recieved a letter informing me that unless a make a full payment of the arranged deposit they are going to take me to court in the next 14 days., and get a CCJ. i have made contact stating i never recieved any confirmationa - they have told me, that they will give another chance and i can rebook for next year at the same place. i have told them i do not want a holiday with them after being treated like this. am i leaglly bound by a contract and are they going to take me to court???
  10. Hi everyone, overjoyed I found this site! I'm 24 and have just learnt the value of money (finally). I'm roughly 10k in debt to around 10 creditors. Yesterday I worked out I should be paying out around £850? a month. I only earn £750 a month. I'd really appreciate some advice on how to tackle this? Debts are in this order... Loan with co-op. 6400 total including interest, 2800 left to pay. Up to date with payments. Credit card with halifax. £2654 total balance. 104 over limit, 2 months behind. Credit card with Natwest. £2794 total balance. £6 remaining credit. Up to date with payments. Credit card with Vanquis. £500 total balance. 1p remaining credit. Up to date with payments. Credit card with Capital one 198 total balance. £2 remaining credit. Up to date with payments. Payday express loan. 690 including interest. interest frozen. up to date with repayment plan, won't be able to make next payment of 87. Wonga. 403 total balance. interest frozen. 50 a month repayment plan. up to date. Mr lender. £150. up to date, been rolling over £33 for 5 months now. Quick quid. Owed a fair amount, got it down to £160 now. Agreed 160 a month repayment plan, won't be able to make next payment but up to date so far. Another PDL I can't remember the name of. £150, due on 20th august. won't be able to meet payment. I don't know how I've managed to keep this up so long but there we go. (actually yes I do, borrowing from elsewhere to pay bills) Household expenses food etc come to around 60 a week. I've filled in the CCCS DMP plan. Do you think this would be the right option for me? I'm hoping to pay around 200-300 a month, so I can live without credit. Thanks so much for the help in advance, much appreciated!
  11. It's a legal [problem] that is out of order... My sister parked her car in a car park and this is her mistake. She parked at 10.45am. She returned at 3pm to find her car gone. She tried over and over to phone PCM to get her car but there was no luck. The lady kept insisting that she needs to speak to a guy via mobile number, but noone was picking up on that mobile number. We could not obtain the address of the car pound or any other details. The next morning we start heading to slough, and again we still cant get in touch with this mystery man at the car pound. I phone PCM main number again and scream at them to find him because we want the car back. Eventually he switches on his phone (10.30am) and tells us we need to make an appoinment to get the car back. He offers 1pm, we insist 11.15am. He caved him when I blagged "Are you a memeber of the BPA, are you following the guidelines". He gives me the post code and door number. Cant find the place. My sister phones back and he says there is no door number, and that we need to look for Glebe Farm. It wasn't easy, but we found it. There are no signs anywhere in or around the pound to tell people they are at the right place. Just two guard dogs, and no staff. We wait, he shows up. He says they clamped her car at 11.30am, and they towed it at 2pm. Total charge £350. We insisted that we couldnt pick the car up same day because he wasnt picking up the phone. He insisted that shes incurred 2 days storage charge. We asked for some official ID that can tell us he is legally allowed to tow cars, he presented an SIA licence. Now, this is the clever [problem]. They pick up cars, but its IMPOSSIBLE to collect the same day. They either wont pick up or they can say 'appointment only'. Their operating hours are 10am to 5pm, which makes it impossible for working folk to get their cars unless they take a day off the next day from work. Another part of the [problem] is that they dont want you to find the car pound. He clearly lied to me about the address, and theres no indication anywhere that there is a car pound there. This particular pound is located in Ruislip. Are the DVLA out of their minds? Is this all according to BPA regulations? Also, the pricing is insane. If they pick up a car at 2pm, close their office at 5pm, and i pick up the car the next morning at 10am, they can charge me for TWO DAYS storage. Even though I've only had a 3 hour window to get my car, which they would never let happen anyway. He explained they charge per calender day, but i said "you dont even operate per day, you dont even work normal office hours". Out of order. Further more, when you ring the number on the website, a message tells you to ring a mobile number if your car has been towed. But noone picks up this mobile number!! And the number given to me the next day is different. Its like a legal paradox that is out of control in London.
