  1. Hello all. I need some advice as I have been endlessly searching the internet for information and I cannot find anything specific with regards to my issue. I have been living in Australia since 2009 and although initially I've been paying my UK debts during the first two years of living here, due to changes in my personal circumstances I couldn't keep up with the payments anymore. All these debts were credit cards, an unsecured loan and an overdraft. At the beginning I informed all my creditors that I will not be able to keep up with my payments, later on I'd been paying a reduced
  2. What shows up on these please? Regular or enhanced. A friend of mine has a breach of the peace on her record and she was bound over in Court to keep the peace. Shes now looking to get a new job but isn't sure if this will count against her? It happened in December 2010
  3. I have recently bought a car from a well known motor store AC. One thing that was never offered was a hpi check. I am considering doing one just for peace of mind, dont suppose anyone has a spare code going? I notice over on MSE people exchange unused checks they have bought for other money saving codes, maybe we could do that here? http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?t=224393&page=6
  4. Hi all, when a prospective new employer says subject to credit checks what does this actually mean? Do they check for bankcruptcy and fraud or the whole lot i.e. credit rating. The reason I ask is that been offered a couple of jobs recently that refer to this (I work in financial services/insurance) and I worry a) of getting turned down for a job and b) kicking debt chasers into life if potential employers are checking. Anyone got any knowledge on this? I dont have and fraud or bankruptcy on my records but do have a failed IVA appx 5/6 years o
  5. Hey all, I have a quick enquiry if someone could take two minutes please. I'm applying to rent a flat and the agent has informed me that I am required to fill out a form that is then given to a company called Homelet who will conduct credit and employment checks on me. My job is secure, have been here over 15 years now, earn good money and my credit is about average with nothing adverse on my file. I have several credit cards but they are all clear of debt. For some reason I've myself into a fuzz that I am going to fail the check. Does anyone know what reason they would fai
  6. Hi all, im looking for a bit of advice. My partner is self employed (as of 2011) and this was the first year he had to do his tax etc. He hired a accountent and he done all the work. It got worked out that he was owed just over £1000. His accountent sent it all of just after april 6th, he told my other half it would take about 2 weeks. 2 weeks went past and we heard nothing. i had been reading that HMRC are kind of slow so got my other half to call them up. They said it would be a week or so. At the beginning of may my other half called back his accountent and the accountent cal
  7. Could someone tell me how often should I look at my credit rating, what is the minimum required for renting a flat, when the estate agent checks it, can they see how bad it is? Or only that I did/did not pass? Also if I was abroad for 4-5 years would that affect my credit rating? I had no CCJs against me, nor was I declared bankrupt. So how bad is bad, that's I guess what I would like to know. Also, shall I pay the CRA the 13 pounds for the credit check or is there another way of doing it please? Many thanks, Mariann
