Sorry, is that Joe blogs Yes (just waiting for the DPA checks) its about a debt from Crapquest for £xxxx, are you in a position to pay? Crapquest, aaah have they finally got a CCA then? A CCA? yes a consumer credit act agreement. Im sorry i dont know. Thats not fair of them asking for you to collect it when they havnt supplied it. I said i wouldnt have anything to do with them untill they got it. Sorry i didnt know. I think you had better get back in contact with them then. Goodbye. ends call That is a rough version of events, no dpa check and chasing an account in serious dispute No nastiness , just a simple no leeway chat , after all they were paying for the call lol.
  2. Good news is customers will be allowed to leave without any penalties. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/bills/article-2216136/Sky-hikes-line-rental-18--charges-SECOND-time-year.html
  3. My Father in Law bought a second hand car the week before last and collected it on 10th September. For which he was loaned the cash by a close friend, in total £8000. He drove it home then down to mine and back home in total about 10-12miles. The following day he was taken ill, went to hospital and died very suddenly last Tuesday. The car is now sat outside his friends house and she is too devastated to do anything with it. She has tried calling the dealers(Main Citroen dealers) and asked them to take back the car and just giver her the money back. They had refused and said the best they can do is take back the car and try and sell it on her behalf but they are now refusing to take her calls and wont ring her back. I have tried to call them and been told the problem is with the area manger to sort. Any help or advice would be helpful. Thanks
  4. Many private parking signs use unclear wording and bad layout, meaning they are likely to mislead motorists. The signs are sometimes so bad they breach the British Parking Association's notorious code of practice for approved operators, but the BPA seems to discipline very few companies for bad signage. Martin Cutts of Plain Language Commission is gathering evidence of good and bad private parking signs and documents as part of a report he'll present to the Government about how the British Parking Association is failing to police its code of practice. He's also been challenged by the BPA to provide evidence of bad signs and documents being used by its members. He needs clear close-up photos of signs used by BPA private members (nearly all will show the BPA logo) all over the UK. It will help if you can also provide context photos showing where the signs are positioned and whether there are entry and exit barriers. So if you have a private car park near you that's operated by a BPA member, eg at supermarkets, motorway services, shopping centres, tourist hot-spots, please take the best close-up photos you can of the signboards, including the detailed terms and conditions, and email them to Martin at [email protected][/font]> (no spaces) There's a typical example of a poorly worded sign in the Plain Language Commission newsletter, downloadable here: http://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/plcdev/home/sfusion/htdocs/staging/new.clearest.co.uk/public/system/files/139/original/Pikestaff_57_.pdf Examples of words that Plain Language Commission experts consider unacceptable on private parking signs include fine, penalty, offence, Regulations and Authority but even if you don’t see these, please still send the photos. Often the language and get-up of a sign is simply unclear and this is equally prohibited by the code. Please give the following details when sending your photos: 1 Your name and contact details (only in case Martin needs to verify something) 2 Date of photo 4 Location of sign (eg, name of shopping centre or superstore) 5 Name of BPA member unless it’s clear from the sign 6 Name of landowner if known 7 Any other comments As regards documents, Martin wants parking charge notices and letters from private parking companies and their debt collectors and solicitors. Please send scans or PDFs to Martin at (no spaces) Your name and contact details are required for verification only. Your personal information will not be used for any other purpose or shared with any third party for any reason There's no deadline as this work will continue, but anything you can send by the end of August 2012 will be especially helpful. Martin’s postal address for any paper documents is Plain Language Commission, 29 Stoneheads, Whaley Bridge SK23 7BB. *** NEW ADDRESS TO SEND EMAILS TO ** parkingsigns@consumeracti ongroup.co.uk - (no spaces)
  5. Does anyone know the settings for diverting calls from an 02 landline ? And can it be done remotely -(not currently set up for answermachine)
  6. Just wondering if anyone has come across this before: About 3 months ago I got a call off the CSA wanting to discuss my change in income I had reported by phone about 2 weeks previous - I had made no such phone call. The advisor then put me on hold and when he came back apologised and said it was to do with a letter - but the only letter I had written was about me disputing my arrears. I just got a phone call about 20 minutes ago, again asking me about my change in income that I have reported. This phone call had seemingly been made at the end of July - explained to advisor I hadn't phoned, she put me on hold, then came back saying I had definitely phoned twice about my income. To prove my point I then phoned them, and without knowing when the case was started and getting my daughter's age wrong I somehow passed security! (I did this on purpose to see what happened) Now I have found out my ex partner has been with a new partner for about 3-4 months, will know my national insurance number from her bank statements and that is all they seem to ask for apart from her name and daughter's name, which she obviously knows. How can I find out if she has been trying to do something to the case like increase my income details or something? She has lied to them already about the arrears I really don't put this past her
  7. More a theoretical question: Employer X pays employee on a [[Friday 16th August]] using BACS My understanding is that for the payment to clear on the Friday, Employer X would have had to "send" the payment on [[Wednesday 15th August]]. If Employer X needs to cancel/re-call the payment sent on the Wednesday, can it be done on the Thursday before the money hits the employee bank account on the Friday?? If yes: Would there be a cut off time on the Thursday for Employer X to arrange this? If no: Can an employer reverse the BACS payment once the money is in the employees account, without prior consent of the employee ? If the employee goes along to his bank on Friday AM and withdraws the £2k wages before the payment is reversed (if that can even be done), can the payment still be reversed, if the account is not capable of being "overdrawn"? (Although highly "theoretical", urgent responses required!!)
  8. So took out a payday loan with Paycheck Credit, i'm in arrears but thats already underway and getting sorted by DAS. This is regarding the number they provided (paycheck) when dialed it took me through to toothfairy finance (select option, difficulty applying to get an advisor) told the guy i was recording the call, he agreed (only 5 mins max on my phone to my dismay) Now the man kindly explained that he was from toothfairy, but had access to all of my details for paycheck, i probed him asking is this not unlawful? The man then went onto explain that they were sister companies and therefore were able to share info. Yet i've never received anything other than a text from toothfairy? Is this a breach of the DPA? Finances are sorted this post is more about getting info so i can make a uber complaint to OFT so hopefully thse guys will be getting shut down
  9. So glad to see my favourite forum has a special needs section!!! My middle son was diagnosed with Aspergers a few weeks ago, we have made a claim for DLA on Friday and I recieved a phonecall from a lady on Monday morning!! She asked a couple of questions on mobility and night times. She said we would get a decision in 1 - 2 weeks. Im guessing that means she wont be contacting any other agencies?! Does it sound like bad news to you?? :???:
  10. I had a letter last month from fredrickson so I called them and told them i will only deal with them through letters only. I live above a small post office so my post is collected from the shop, when i went to collect it this morning my landlord said he had taken a call from fredrickson they asked him to tell me to contact them. I have since called them to complain, as its caused a bit of hassle for me, Is there away of taken this complaint to a higher level, as i think they have broken some kind of law here, im a right and what should I do now thanks Louthy
  11. helloo! today i recieved a letter from a bailiff company stating if i didnt pay £80- the fine would go up and i would be taken to court and issued with a CCJ - EEK! the story is: on 14th november 2011 i wrote to DVLA to declare SORN, even though the tax did not run out until 30th November 2011. i did not fill in a SORN form as 1.) didnt have one and 2.) didnt know thats all they accepted. it was just a bog standard letter informming them the car was on private land (300 acres) in a barn and that it wouldnt be used for 5 months thereabouts. On that date i also cancelled the car insurance with the post office. (the car in question is my polo grooms car and he goes back to Chile mid november to mid march. ) I recieved a ''last chance'' renewal notice through the post end of December 2011 and telephoned them. they said the SORN had probably crossed in the post and all would be ok however I should probably write to them again, which i did, informing them that i had already declared SORN. on 1st march 2012 i recieved a letter stating that they had recieved my letter however i had not ''checked up 4 weeks later for an acknowledgement letter" when i informed them in November therefore I was still liable for the £80 fine, £40 if paid within one week. I was so angry i threw the letter in the bin and completely forgot about it .... .... until today, 21st June 2012 i recieved at bailiffs letter threatening that if i didn t pay £80 i would be taken to court....ooops! i telephoned the number (0844) and spoke to AMIR who bluntly told me it was my problem as i didnt read the SORN form correctly where it says ''if i hadnt recieved an acknowledgement letter in 4 weeks to call them''. i told him that i didnt even use aSORN form so how could i have known, he replied one would have come with the reminder letter so you should have read it. having now looked at the tax renewal form, where this SORN NOTICE is written, is not clear enough. it is in a small box, and it doesnt say ""YOU MUST CALL US FOR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF SORN AS FAILURE TO DO SO WILL INCCUR A £80 FINE OR A CCJ" .... if that had been the case i would have chased them like crazy!! i told Amir that i want to go to court and that he should instruct DVLA to stop with the bailiffs and debt letters - hassle and bullying i said, as i feel i am being treated guilty when i am inoccent. i am 36 yrs old and never had a late payment fine/CCJ/points on licence and i have been driving since i was 17. any suggestions?? - shall i pay the £80 or go to court??
  12. Hi there, I am a first time poster, since last week I have been receiving daily calls from BCW GROUP but as yet have not answered any of them as I don't have any debts that I'm aware of & haven't had any outstanding debts before. (but I have moved house a few times so maybe a utility bill could have requested payment at an old address or something.) Should I call them? What information should I ask for? What information can I give them? (I don't think they have my address) Should I sign up to a credit report site and see if anything is listed on there first? Sorry if these are basic questions or this is not the right forum, thanks.
  13. Dear All I was absolutely amazed to receive a notice to owner by post few days ago. I stopped on residents bay to make a phone call (no other places to stop). A minute or so later a parking warden jumps out of nowhere, photographs car from the front, quickly jumps and photographs my tax disk. I was astonished and lost for words! I knew if i come out I would make trouble (I cant keep calm with them) so I just drove off on the assumption that he is just playing games and just wanted to make a scene. I also remembered that in any case he has to put a ticket on the car- apparently not any more. Could you please let me know if it is permitted to stop on a resident bay for short period of time to make a phone call or something? what would be my course of action - I am definitely contesting it - since I never had original ticket I have to pay full penalty now anyhow help
  14. I've found a couple of vague references to this happening on Google but it's just wierd. We've had numerous calls on our Orange land-line from an "international" (ie no number) number with an automated message asking if we receive Sky TV through a dish. Press 1 if yes, 2 if no. On the original call I pressed 2, and they hung up. Now 10+ calls later, it's getting annoying. Does anyone know where I might start finding out who these clowns are?! We have a dish that I installed myself in the flowerbed (we're in a conservation area with no terrestrial coverage or cable) and use it to watch Freesat. Never have been a Sky customer.
