  1. Nationwide allow customers to utilise their accounts above arranged overdrafts or even if there is no overdraft. Would be helpful if customers were not charged for this but you will be. It's what they call a buffer and help if needed. Each transaction will cost you £15. I know someone who made a cash withdrawal for £70, and two small shop transactions less than £10 each. They are going to be charged £15 for each of these transactions. They did not ask for this service and would have preferred the system didn't allow the transactions. They could have used another account but used this particular card thinking there was more money available. Rant to you NW bank charges just keep finding their way into your life.
  2. I have a LTSB Classic account and was told there is a £10 buffer zone, it's not my main account though. However today they returned a Direct Debit for the sum of 1p. I thought that the £10 buffer would have come in and the DD paid. I am a Carer and had to see to a person over the weekend who had no internet access, but can't believe for the sake of 1pence. I rang the bank helpline and the person I spoke to didn't know what the buffer was there for? ie what it covered. It was for a payment to Orange Mobile for £9.19, yet they payed one of these continuous payments which I am finding hard to cancel.
  3. It's not often I have anything good to say about a Bank but something I've used a few times without being charged is the Overdraft Buffer applied to my old Northern Rock Account, now Virgin Money. From their T's & C's....... 11. Overdraft facilities - including buffer 11.6. We will not charge you any interest and service fees on an unauthorised overdraft if the amount you have overdrawn without our authorisation is £35 or less and your account is returned to credit within one month of going overdrawn. If you are overdrawn without our authorisation by more than £35, interest and service fees will be charged in accordance with condition 11.3 and condition 11.4. At least it saves you getting hit with charges for going a few pounds or pence overdrawn.
