  1. My daughter parked in my private parking bay and viewed the visitor permit in the windscreen rather that the permit with the bay number. When we returned she had a parking ticket. I wrote to UK Car Park Management Ltd advising this was an error and that she had my permission to park there me being the resident for that bay and provided photographs of both the visitor and bay number permits. She still received letters requesting payment which rightly or wrongly i told her to ignore as i believed we have the proof that she had permission to park there. She has now received a le
  2. Recently bought an older car for the "Boss" and have had bother with it. Guy I bought from refuses to repair the car which has developed an MOT failure problem on day 1. Seller claims to be a private seller and advertised as such on Gumtree. Found out this guy has a vehicle repair workshop of sorts and sells the odd vehicle mainly sourced from his brother who is a bona fide trader. Am taking him to small claims court if he doesn't pay repair by local garage. Beware motor traders in Kirkcaldy Fife, bearing the same name.
  3. Hi All, I'll try and keep this as succint as possible, I just want to gauge some opinions on a current issue I'm having with morethan pet insurance. Our cat is 13 years old and requires surgery costing up to £8k. We've had our policy since he was 8 weeks old, with the same provider (morethan), and have never made any changes to the policy ourselves. The cover limit is £8k (plus whatever excess fees, which we'll get to)... The last paperwork we received from them was the payment schedule this time last year (it also detailed the policy renewal date as 5th June 2018; we were yet t
  4. Hi Just received my credit file and after getting into a bad financial situation I have a total of 19 defaults on my credit file!, 11 are due to drop of this year and 3 next year the rest are around 2022, for the latter do you think my credit file will improve If I pay them of so they are marked as satisfied? or should I just wait, none of them are chasing me for payment at the minute Just edited to add one is for a mobile phone debt that I was paying for 2 years at £35 per month, it says I owe £550.00 now
  5. Hi all, I am new to this forum and have a query about an interview I attended in the UK. The hiring manager beforehand said certain questions would be asked a specific test would be given. I was disadvantaged compared to other candidates when I spent so much time preparing only to discover on the day that the test and questions were completely different, hence why I was unsuccessful in landing the job. Also, an interview question was more restrictive when asked to myself compared to other interviewees. Is there a potential case I can bring to an employment tribunal to s
  6. Hi.. I am insured on vehicle and my current insurnce compnay will not transfer me to the car I want to drive, they even said no one was coming back with a quote as I was uninsurable... I knew this was rubbish. I went on go compare and got a quote for £995 (still high but given my circumstances I knew it would be about that). I have a short while left on my current policy, I want to know am I good to get another policy out before old one has ended? i am giessing yes?).
  7. A motorist has hit out at Asda after she was 'charged' £99 before she filled her car up with fuel. Jade Louise claims she was debited £99 on top of her £5 petrol transaction at an Asda in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire and says there were no signs warning customers about the fee. MasterCard said the charge was introduced at automated fuel pumps so that customers didn't fill up with more fuel than they could afford - but says no money will be taken from their accounts. However Jade claims she was left out of pocket for three days. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5703487
  8. Hi everyone. I'm a new member on here. I came across the site when researching tenancy deposit schemes and I've read through several threads but can't seem to find and guidance in relation to my particular problem. Briefly, in September of last year I agreed to rent a property with a private landlord. I had a few concerns about the property but the landlord assured me they would be dealt with once I moved in. But I needed somewhere to live quickly and my mother paid the deposit. The rent was to be paid by housing benefit. There was mould throughout the property, there
  9. My daughter hit a pothole on Monday evening (early evening) and today (Tuesday) she has noticed damage. Taking it to the tyre shop it appears the alloy wheel is buckled and tyre blown she is having to replace the wheel and the tyre at a cost of around £600. It's a fairly new car hence the expense. She didn't stop at the time because the pothole was on a bend and she didn't want to put herself at risk, went back Tuesday evening with her dad to photograph the hole and measure it, when she got there the hole has been filled in and it's evident the work has just been done.
  10. I am looking for some advice dealing with the DCA chasing after an alleged debt they say I had with Npower. I paid every month by direct debit and as far as I was concerned all paid off and sent the final meter reading on the day I moved out. I called them few months later and was told what the final bills was £36 and paid off. Now a DCA sending letters, but the company name is Npower Northern which I have never known. My bills had the name Npower and not Npower Northern. Have they changed names? How can there be an outstanding amount when paid by monthly
  11. Can some one please help. I have received a final response to the letter that I sent to GE regarding my PPI payments on the loan that I took with First National Tricity Finance in October 1999. I have the agreement and I know I paid £155.00 as a lump sum. Single premium. Santander was saying that I should have checked the PPI. However, in 1999 I did not know anything about PPI, and also I was told that this formed part of the deal. In order to continue with the loan I had to take this so I did. Has anyone able to claim an PPI from Santander please? Many th
  12. Hi all, First off, fantastic community here. I have spent a fair amount of time researching and it really is incredible how companies can act. I have a slightly different situation which I couldn't find anything comparable from searching the forums. I signed up for a 12 month Fit4Less membership where the first payment was taken October-2016. I cancelled the direct debit sometime about August 2017 where the last payment was taken August 2017, this was due to me moving about 1.5 miles away and wanted a gym in walking distance. Therefore, I have only paid 11 of the
  13. I'm planning to call CAB on Monday when they open, but would be grateful of any guidance in the meantime, or suggestions of more appropriate organisations to contact. We brought a house on the 21st July, and straight away gave meter readings to the energy company and took photographs of the meters. It seems that the previous owner gave their final readings on the 4th July, and they're trying to pin the gap on me. When the bills started to arrive they were from the 4th July to 31st July. I've since called and emailed to complain several times, they agreed to set up a new ac
  14. Hello, We went to the Embassy last year on 22 Aug 2016 where I got the parking charge notice from CPM car park management that I parked at the private property location and a charge of 100 pounds due within 28 days of the date of issue. I couldn't able to see any board saying that parking is not allowed there I got the parking ticket from the pay machine and put it in my car when I came back I got this notice. I returned back to the receptionist and asked about that she said that every day they get people complaining having parking tickets like this. I have kept
  15. And Hello everyone, I have just registered on the Forum and this is my first post! I was hoping to pick your brains a little regarding a similar issue I have found myself in. I have travelled from St Pancras to St Albans on the Saturday just gone. My partner and I have stupidly used my bank card - thinking that St Albans was still covered by the London zone! It's a complete mistake on our part which I have admitted to the staff at St Albans station, and apologised. I have asked if it's an option for us to purchase a ticket now (hoping they would exercise t
  16. Hi, I took my car in to a local garage to repair an oil leak around 2 months ago. From what the garage have told me, it looks like there was an oil leak on the car previously which had been badly repaired. It appears that the engine ran low on oil at some point and I've now been told I need a new engine The garage told me they would try to find a replacement engine but after waiting for a couple of weeks, I tried to find one myself. I've been able to find a reconditioned engine with 12 months warranty which can be delivered to the garage. I've confirmed with the garage an
  17. Hi Guys, Just checking something out and was looking for clarification. On my Equifax report, it states that an overdraft I had with HBOS. First late date payment was July 2011, then subsequent months late and then shows as defaulted in January 2012. I'm assuming as it shows, this means no payment since June 2011. The debt appears to have then been sold to Arrow Global as they have listed the default on Equifax in January 2012. I have never once communicated with Arrow Global on this. I obviously haven't made any payments to HBOS regarding this. Today I receiv
  18. Good Afternoon everyone, Having had a read of these forums I have seen how helpful you have been with offering advice to other people so decided to register and post my own situation to see if you can offer me any advice. I am currently a private tenant through a letting agent. I originally signed an Assured Shorthold Tenancy Agreement on the 1st October 2016, which was a 12 month agreement with a 6 Month break clause. This agreement was signed by both myself and my Girlfriend at the time, so this original tenancy has not yet ended. On the 12 June 2017 (3 and a half months
  19. Been helping someone who has got themselves into a bit of bother with a PBC [pawnbrokingcompany] over the renewal of a large logbook loan against a hypercar. Just wondered if anyone else has had an success in getting a LBL extended on the value of a vehicle that was clearly valued at 10+ times the amount of the advance, against the trade resale of said vehicle, without it being "re-valued" by a 3rd party on behalf of the PBC? The issue is the vehicle has gone up considerably in value, over the period of the original LBL and the PBC have called the full amount in, against the value of
  20. Hiya all, Trying to help my brother out, He has been issued with a money claim alongside a section 8, They are for differing amounts but issued on the same day which is odd I am going to help him out with responding but a quick technical question should a letter before action have been sent to him beforehand? I know it is practice for companies but not sure if applicable to rent arrears? Also worth saying he wrote to LL on date it was issued asking for a rental breakdown as he disputes the amounts ( especially as different from the section 8 ) and it was si
  21. Hello CAG, I hope someone can help me I have received a Letter before Action from PRA formerly Aktiv Kaptial for a MBNA credit card I opened in 2006 online for £3300. Due to unemployment the credit card defaulted in 2012 with MBNA and the last payment made via a Debt Management Plan was in March 2013 to Aktiv . I made a CCA request and they provided me with the attached documents with t&c's. I have responded to their Letter of Action using 1st class post on 3rd December 2016 but no response yet asking for copy of the original credit card agreement, default notice, notice o
  22. Dear all, I unfortunately suffer from chronic depressive illness and have done so for many years with the condition significantly worsening over the past few years. In the year 2011 I had been subject to police investigation. I attended a police interview on a voluntary basis. Due to my debilitating depression I had an appropriate adult also attend this interview who I understand was a social worker at that time. The social worker, without my explicit consent, went on to record the details of the alleged criminal charges I faced on the NHS Trust’s IT system and within my
  23. Hello everyone, thank you in advance for any help and guidance you can give, it is very much appreciated. Following receipt of a Letter before claim from Gladstones Solicitors I have responded to them disputing the claim, following a quick back and forth, I have received another letter from them stating that "they are not instructed to enter into any further correpondence...if payment is not made within 14 days - a claim will be issued without further notice" The initial parking charge notice was issued to me by post, although i have no recollection of receiving this as the alleged
  24. Hello and happy new year! I have recently noticed from my bank statements that in 2011, a deposit for a flat was never paid back. It was £400 holding deposit, £50+VAT admin fee and the rest and £87+VAT referencing. The contract I have on email states non-refundable if the letting is 'frustrated', and defines that as, if credit info is withheld from the application OR if I cancel the letting. The agent actually cancelled the letting, and no referencing was carried out because I checked with the referencing agency. So I did not 'frustrate' anything and never moved in. Yet al
  25. Hi All, I have served notice to my landlord to move out of my apartment on 01/12/2016. There are no arrears and everything is up to date. My landlord however wants to do an inspection on 14/12/2016 which is over 2 weeks before the tenancy ends and I feel will not truly represent the condition the property will be in before handing the apartment back to him. The reasons given by him for doing this are to get an assessment done for trades people to fit there schedules and to prepare the property for the letting agent. This is all very well and good but the landlord has said i
