  1. Hi All, First time poster! I've been battling with Barclays over a default they placed on my credit file purporting to a current account with Barclays which I didn't recognise. Six months ago my partner and I were house hunting, at this stage we were really just getting a feel for the market. A house came up that was perfect and we set the wheels in motion hoping to get a mortgage offer sorted within the week and put an offer in. After visiting a mortgage advisor, he asked for copies of our credit files, which we duly acquired from the two credit reference companies and sent them to the advisor. Whom then told me I'd no way qualify for a Help to buy mortgage due to a recent default on my Credit File. I was utterly shocked, especially when I found it was linked to a Barclays Current Account. I have never been a customer of Barclays, ever...at least to my knowledge. I contacted Barclays and went through the SAR motions. It would appear that my very old Mortgage account with the Woolwich (circa 10 years ago the mortgage was paid off and account closed), had been migrated to Barclays and somehow they had issued a charge on the account which changed its balance from NIL to a negative amount...this Current Account now in unplanned overdraft accumulated fees for approx 9 years. In January this year I had received a letter from Barclays saying my unplanned overdraft is being terminated and I must pay them back £267 immediately or face legal action. I contacted them and was advised to pay it to prevent legal action and chase the cause afterwards. So I duly paid the outstanding amount, paranoid that I'd get a blotch on my otherwise pristine credit record. At this point I was writing to Barclays enquiring where the account came from. Now fast forward to April and my house hunting exploits with my wife I mentioned above. After much messing around and letters going back and forth between myself and Barclays Customer Services, They admitted fault and removed the Default from my record, refunded me the £267 they had originally demanded and offered me £50 by way of compensation. I'm literally about to write a response to Barclays about the £50 compensation. Basically, I would have purchased my own house months ago, if it were not for Barclays and the erroneous default, it has stopped us moving on with our lives, prevented my children from being able to settle into their new home (currently 2 girls and a boy sharing a room), its caused endless amounts of stress to myself and my wife and caused months of worry and unhappiness whilst we believed that nothing could be done. I don't think £50 really cuts it after I've had to pay months worth of rent, I wouldn't have had to pay, the emotional turmoil and stress they put us through (I lost 4st due to stress, though that's probably a good thing), my wife has been put on anti-depressants due to the stress and worry. I don't want to be THAT hard done by guy whom is out to line his pockets with someone else gold, but I feel we were forced to hold the ****ty end of the stick through no fault of our own and we had 6 months of misery because of it. I'm not sure what my point is, or even why I'm writing this post, I guess i just needed a rant. On the plus side, it is such a relief that the default is going and we got our money back, but I'm not happy with the compensation they have offered, in fact I find it a bit of an insult. Appointment book for the Mortgage advisor for tomorrow and hopefully we will find another perfect property soon.
  2. Hi, I was a victim of credit card fraud and reported it to barclays who closed the account and sent me a new card. Amount just over £2500 with over 8 transactions. When looking at my statement (once the funds were processed) it says the card was used in another country and the chip and pin was used. I was sent a deceleration form to fill in and send back which i have but now i got a call to fill in another form which allows police to investigate which i am fine with, i was also told to send in passport details etc. my question is how did they manage to use my card and and get hold of my pin, barclays say the original card was used but i had it on me on the day of the transaction and have never let any one us it. when talking to them on the phone i felt like they were blaming me and putting me on the spot. They also stated that the original card was used. What will happen now? will i get my money back? as i have car insurance due soon. i have read some horror storys online thanks in advance (sorry if in the wrong section)

Hi have not posted for a while as things have been ticking over O.K. thanks to all the help from this site but I now have a new problem which I hope someone can advise me on I have a loan with Barclays which has been off my credit file for some time but on just checking my file it is back on I was unable to maintain payments to the loan and started paying a reduced sum from around 2003 - payments have always been maintained but at a very reduced rate (have checked and the debt is enforceable - even got a copy of the signed agreement when I made a subject access request some time ago The new information on my credit file shows date account was opened which is correct - an opening balance which looks like it must be the current balance and not original loan amount - also shows the original payments due when the account was opened and shows green O.K. for July and August - so does not show that this account was defaulted many years ago or that I have been paying reduced amounts I am not sure what to do about this - I thought once a debt came off your file it could not go back on but perhaps I am wrong ? Any advice please - my credit file has improved vastly in the last 2 years and now it looks like I am heading back to square one Thanks!
  4. I will try and keep this short! Ive been banking with Barclays since 1995 and there have been good and some not so good times! I've always had an overdraft. Last year when they introduced the new fees my monthly interest went from approx £11 to about £48 per month! I wrote to them in Sept and explained I was already struggling and asked if they could freeze the interest and in return I would pay £50 per month which would reduce the balance of the overdraft- I asked for 6 months and then for it to be reviewed. They acknowledge my complaint but I did not hear from them for several months, apparently they wrote to me in November but I did get the letter and also my father passed away on December 12th and was gravely ill for weeks leading up to this so it wasn't really on my mind. I contacted them in February and asked what was happening and they then sent another copy of the letter and a cheque for £50 for the delay. In the meantime I had been making the payments of £50 per month without an arrangement in place but they had not frozen the interest. The letter rejected my request and therefore I contact the FOS. After what seems like forever in May the FOS ruled in my favour and ordered Barclays to refund the charges from September and pay me £75 compensation. Now the other issue was that up until March Barclays had never in 20 years reported the running of my account to a credit reference agency but in March they decided to withdraw my overdraft and report this via the CRA's it it looked like I was £1300 OD against a limit of ZERO and also 5 payments behind! They were also ordered to make an arrangement with me, change my credit file from March to show an arrangement and show my overdraft limit. I made a formal arrangement to pay the balance in 6 months at £150 per month, more than I can afford but they would not accept less! It is now nearly September and whilst Equifax shows and arrangement since March, the balance is incorrect - it shows £1268 when its now just £550. Experian hasn't been updated at all and I only found this out because I have good credit outside of this and I want to pay a house, I applied for a agreement in principle and was declined due to this information showing me 5 payments behind! I lost the house I wanted! I recontacted the FOS who all along have been very lenient on Barclays and the advisor was actually trying to tell my that its the way Experian report and therefore not Barclays fault. She also said she was surprised I could get a mortgage with an arrangement showing but Ive been assured once this is sorted it is all fine. I insisted she go back to Barclays and she said she emailed them but they didnt come back to her and now shes gone on holiday for 3 weeks! Barclays will not discuss this matter with me directly. I just dont know what to do? this has been going for a year! Barclays just seem intent on making this as difficult as possible. I mentioned the ICO to the FOS and they said I dont need the ICO, is this right?? Any advice would be appreciated. Can I claim compensation for them making me lose the house I so desperately wanted?

Afternoon, I've been in a bit of a spot recently, lost my job, had to re-arrange my mortage to interest only or risk losing my house, defaulted on my one credit card, missing paying bills every month, I think you guys get the picture but the last year or so has been financial hell for me. My credit report is a sea of red Anyway I'll concentrate just on the Barclays account here. I've had an account with Barclays for around 20-25 years and I have most of the statements which I've started to dump info from into an Excel spreadsheet. I have a question if anyone would be so kind as to help, 1) I've dug a folder from around 1998 onwards and logged charges that include Unauthorised overdraft fees Additions fees Transaction charges for insufficient funds in account Personal overdraft usage fees Overdraft interest charges Paid referral fees Items returned fees Reserve usage fees I'm missing a few statements here and there so will SAR Barclays today to get the missing information. Naturally I'm awful at administoring my personal finances or should I say I was awful until a few ago when I stumbled across this place. My question is this, what are my chances of recouping any of the above fees and if so over what period. The Additions fees which are small are already over a thousand pounds and I still have another 5 years of statements to go through. I hope I don't come across as a chancer who is trying to claw back money for services that I used. I have a deep loathing of Barclays as they have me by the short 'n curlies since I live in their 'reserve' paying close to £100/month for the privalige of doing so. I never asked for the Additions accounts, I frequently popped into my local branch on occasions to speak about the horrendous charges but was always told that I was on the best package for my current situation, surely this was misleading to say the least? I've read the BCOBS stuff in this section but am still a little confused as to what my next move should be once I've completed my spreadsheet and write to Barclays asking for ermmm, some money back please?
  6. Hi, I was hoping for a little help and advice please.. .. In 2009 I took out a Business Loan from Barclays for a business debt of £20,000. I have an signed Agreement and have been paying £230 per month ever since. I have never missed a single payment. Today I received a letter from Barclays saying that the debt had been transferred to Westcot and to contact Westcot to make arrangements to continue payments but this time direct to Westcot. I rang Barclays to see if I'd ever missed a payment and why it was going to Westcot, the lady was helpful and said I had never missed a payment but Barclays had sold a lot of accounts to Westcot.... My question is this, I know and have read about Westcot and I do not like what I have read and I don't trust them . I was happily paying off this loan and now this is tainted for me as I know where this will head... . CAN I DEMAND THAT BARCLAYS KEEP MY ACCOUNT AS I HAVE NOT DEFAULTED AND THERE SEEMS NO REASON WHY IT SHOULD HAVE GONE TO WESTCOT? Many Thanks for you time in advance. Q

Hi all, In 2011 I took out a £15k loan from barclays to save my struggling business which inevitably failed, I had a PG on the loan so I paid off £50 per month since and now it has been sold to Westcott. Judging by previous threads here, it seems as Westcott now own this loan instead of barclays and are sending me letters trying to arrange the payment plan again I am 26 years old and struggling with work at the moment, so I want to know if I have any rights and what I can do about it. By looking at other Westcott posts it seems as if I should avoid them as much as possible. Does anyone have any advice for me? Thanks Mark
  8. i have recently won a ppi case against barclays however they have sent me a cheque in the business name that no longer exists nor does its bank account so i would like the cheque in my name ,, i have rung them and they have informed me that i need to get a solicitors letter confirming that my business has ceased trading, which from what i have been told may cost a fortune the cheque is for £456 my name was on the cheque book chris CAN I ARGUE THAT THEY COULD CHANGE THE CHEQUE TO MY NAME WITHOUT A COSTLY SOLICITOR OR A ACCOUNTANTS LETTER my accountant is no longer in my area and i have no contact for him any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi all, hopefully I'm posting this in the right section To cut a long story short, my mum went to Uganda back in May, during her time there [i suspect] she was a victim of 'skimming' and around £700 went missing from her bank account. When she got back to the UK, we took a look at her statement and the ~£700 was withdrawn from various ATM's around Kampala in increments over a few days. Barclays bank did initially cover my mum's losses whilst they supposedly opened an investigation, but just a few days ago, they basically sent her a letter saying that because her card uses the chip and pin stuff, it had to be her withdrawing the cash and that she needs to pay all of the money back. I've done a bit of reading and banks in the UK don't seem to acknowledge that skimming a chip and pin debit card is a thing and automatically place the blame on the victim of the fraud. Is there anything at all that my mum and I can do? Thanks in advance

Greetings, I do not know if I am posting this in the right forum, but I'm wanting help with something Barclays has done to me: I posted the following question to Barclays customer service department (all the following quotes are simply repostings of our interaction): Me: "Greetings, I am requesting that Barclay card does not increase my credit line, and does not do any hard credit checks whatsoever on my account. Can you please add a note that this customer does not wish to have any credit checks accomplished?" Barclay's Response: "Dear _customer's name_: Thank you for contacting us regarding your Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite MasterCard. We can certainly address your concern regarding the FICO® score on your account. When you view your FICO® Score through this program, you are not impacting your credit score in any way. Credit inquiries classified as "Hard inquiries" (like when you apply for credit) may affect your credit score. "Soft inquiries" do not impact your credit score and are initiated for the purpose of pre-approved credit offers, and by existing creditors to monitor risk. The FICO® program is simply sharing the information obtained through soft inquiries. Therefore, it does not affect your credit score. Further, please be advised that we receive updated information from TransUnion once every 10 weeks, or whenever there are certain changes to your credit file (new account openings, new inquiries for credit, etc.). Whenever that updated information affects your FICO® Score, we will send you an email alert letting you know that your FICO® Score has changed. For more information regarding your FICO® score, you can access the Terms of Use through the 'Your FICO® Score' tab, located in the 'Tools' section of the website. This is not what I asked. Notice that I asked you not to do any HARD credit inquiries on our account. I don't care if the FICO score is updated, I care that you don't do any HARD inquiries on our account. In other words, last year you did a HARD inquiry on our account to increase our credit limit, which we did not ask for. I do NOT want that done again. Does that make sense? I can explain further if you'd like." Barclay's response: "Dear _customer name_ : Thank you for contacting us regarding your Barclaycard Arrival Plus World Elite MasterCard. We can certainly address your concern regarding the hard inquiry on your account. We will need to pull and evaluate your Credit Bureau Report. Please keep in mind that we are only doing a hard pull in order to process your credit limit increase request. We hope you find this information helpful. If you have any other questions and concerns, please reply to this message. Sincerely, Customer Care" My response: "Wow! What part of DO NOT PULL A HARD CREDIT REPORT are you not understanding? I thought I had been really really clear, but I guess not. Is there a way that you might send this request to someone who understands English for me? I'd really really appreciate it. Again, I want to try to be as clear as I possibly can. I do NOT want you to pull ANY hard credit reports from me. I do NOT want an increase in credit with you. I do NOT want another hard credit report pulled. Again, would it be possible for you to forward this request to someone who understand English? I'm not being rude, I just really don't understand why you can't understand my request . It seems really straight forward. DO NOT PULL A HARD CREDIT REPORT, and DO NOT GIVE ME AN INCREASE IN CREDIT. If you're having difficulty with this, please tell me what your first language is and I will see if I can translate it so that it is understandable. Please respond back that you will NOT pull a hard credit report ever again. Thank you." One week later, I found out that they had pulled a hard credit report on me. Is there anything that can be done about this? It seems very blatant disregard for the customer's request.
  11. I am appealing for advice in this case in which Barclays has failed over a 2 year period to put right errors on my mortgage account and now refuses to abide by the binding settlement terms. To confuse matters, the Ombudsman provided misleading information which led to me agreeing the terms and the complaint being closed while the issues are unresolved. Ombudsman has now washed its hands of the case and told me I need to sue Barclays. The Financial Services and Markets Act 2000 (FSMA 2000) makes an Ombudsman’s decision legally enforceable in court, but I can find no solicitor to take on my case on a no-win-no-fee basis and I am not in a position to incur legal fees. It is an obvious winner with loads of political mileage for any law firm. I assume I need to sue once for the statement which they were supposed to provide under the settlement terms and then again later for my losses- which I can only work out once I see the statement. The complaint relates to Barclays’ failure to credit my account with several thousand pounds of overpayments, even claiming the balance had INCREASED after said overpayments. This was my 3rd consecutive complaint regarding Barclays’ mismanagement of the same account. Under the settlement terms finalised 2 June 15 by the Financial Services Ombudsman, Barclays was to provide “a full breakdown of my (mortgage) account from June 13, showing when each overpayment was applied and a clear and accurate explanation for any amendments made to the account”. Barclays has failed to provide the above documentation, but not before lying to the Ombudsman claiming it had! A misleading letter from the Ombudsman claimed the account was now in order (Dec 14) and I thus agreed the settlement terms, which included a nominal payment (which the bank has made). However, the documentation that Barclays was to provide is obviously central to the complaint, particularly since I now have documentary evidence proving the anomalies on the account have NOT been corrected by Barclays. This may be why the bank now refuses to provide the documentation. This documentation was only made available to me by the Ombudsman AFTER I had agreed the settlement terms, believing the account to be correct, and AFTER Barclays had failed to comply. The Ombudsman provided me with documentation the bank provided to it during the course of the investigation, including a calculation (not a statement) which states “this calculation has been provided to assist with the resolution of the complaint”. This documentation does not tally with an independent audit of the account I was obliged to fund. The document makes it clear NO remedial action has been taken, ie it contains a heading “steps required to rectify the account” as opposed to “steps taken to rectify the account”. Nevertheless the Ombudsman told me in writing the account had been corrected! The document is virtually impossible for a layperson to understand and abruptly ends March 14, giving no clues to the current balance and states “the balances shown on this calculator do not represent the actual balance on the account”, so the information is of little use, hence the instruction from the Ombudsman that Barclays provide me with “a full breakdown of the account from June 13, showing when each overpayment was applied and a clear and accurate explanation for any amendments made to the account”. So I have no idea how much interest I have been and continue to be overcharged by the bank on the incorrect balance I was a diligent overpayer until Barclays mismanaged the account. Based on my previous pattern of overpayments, I have been prevented from overpaying at least 10k to date. I have written to John McFarlane CEO asking him to ensure his staff provide the documentation as per the binding settlement terms, to clearly show how much interest I have been overcharged, what steps have been taken to correct the account, and what the correct current balance is, however, it is highly unlikely I will receive a response based on the bank’s attitude thus far. The FCA said they could not assist. I wrote my MP who says he has written to them but won’t show me a copy of the letter. I made a formal complaint about the Ombudsman, but that won’t rectify the account issues. I contacted BBC watchdog and various consumer columns and got no reply. I guess no one dares take on the establishment. I have posted on Barclays FB page and would now like to post the above letter online as widely as possible – any ideas as to where and how would be appreciated. Also any advice on where to find a law firm to represent me on a no win no fee basis would be appreciated.
  12. Hi Guy's, Today I took receipt of a letter from Barclays saying that they thank me for my request etc. Tomorrow is the final day of the 40 days to receive the information back! They are now asking me to provide details of which branch i would like to visit and provide id documents etc (while they collate the information) I have already sent them a copy of my utility bill, my council tax bill etc - can they request this? More importantly they have failed to get me the documents within the 40 days. Thanks, Flappy

This letter turned up today...a little unsure though of what it means if anyone can assist please A seperate unsigned undated egg credit agreement has been sent also Apols the JPG files are two small the PDF files work ***admin is it possible to remove JPGS ? *****

Hi, I hope someone can help please I took a loan with Barclays and defaulted on payments when my best friend died as we were still young the grief hit me so bad I had to go to hospital for a while so couldn't pay my loan. I've finally got my self together and out of the blue I had a letter from PRA group offering me a reduced payment I've never had a letter of assignment from Barclays not really had any letters from Barclays that I can remember. I checked my credit file a few weeks back to check where I am in life as I wanted to move out from my parents and then a letter arrives from pra? theres been no searches from PRA just report saying about Barclays debt and an orange debt for little money. and the PRA letter said Barclays there client would accept a reduced amount to settle the account and my credit file would show settled not satisfied. they said pay 600 + so I wrote and said with family help I could pay less but want it satisfied not settled. I don't know if I've done the right thing and I'm not sure if they've bought the debt if I've not had an assignment letter . my mum is trying to help me but we don't know what were doing tbh. any help would be much appreciated.
  15. Hi guys, i have a BPF fixed sum loan agreement which was taken out for purchase of an ex demo car from Hippo Car Leasing. The agreement is in my mothers name due to her having better credit than me, The problem is, i now want to sell the car and believe that under Fixed Sum Loan agreements, it shouldn't be secured against the car but a personal loan. I have HPI'd the car, and finance is showing on the car? I do not want to trade it in at a dealer, as it will have negative equity of around 3-4k as the mileage ive used is quite a bit more than normal. Basically what im asking is, can Barclay's add the car to the HPI register legally, as they have, and do i have any rights in asking them to the remove the HPI marker allowing me to sell the vehicle privately? Have attached the Loan agreement which we signed. Hope to hear from anyone with help.
  16. Hi I have had a Barclays Bank Account for my business for nearly 3 years I stopped using this account about 2 1/2 years ago due to a row over charges. This week after all this time Barclays have written to me demanding the outstanding balance within 28 days or face action. Before I contact Barclays to discuss the issue I need some help because I am going to ask for the return of my charges which some months were as high as £500 for returned or cleared charged items, I read about somebody wining a case for return of charges bases on the fairness of them can anybody tell me the details and if the case is still on going.

Saturday purchased car via right car supermarket sold as a 1.4 fiesta advised it was a cheap insurance car also cheap tax. on talking with my insurers they told me the car I was registering was in fact a 1.6 fiesta the insurance on this vehicle would not be lower.contacted the company asked for an explanation they said they could not give me one as I had been told the correct details and told the insurance company the wrong ones as the finance for the car was completed nothing they could do. So I must pick the car upon Thursday as arranged. telling them that the details I gave my insurers was written down by themselves on a company card stated they was busy would have to ring me back on Monday.we bought the car on the idea it would reduce our tax also our insurance make motoring a bit cheaper.also doubts over the credibility of the car also the company. where do I stand on this one please additional details Make and model: FORD FIESTA DIESEL HATCHBACK (2008-2012) Registration number: xxxxx Serial or chassis number: xxxxx Date of registration: 25/03/2011 00:00:00 Cash price. £7,717.80 (This is the total cash price of the goods or services.)
  18. Hi - here's hoping!!! I have a current account with Barclays bank (BB) which has an £2000+ overdraft which is always being used to the limit. It only gets reduced for a couple of days when we get paid. What is happening now with their new charges for every day the account is in overdraft is that my monthly fee has more or less doubled. I just used to pay interest on the OD which was about £40 now its around £80/90, which I feel is very unfair. I did contact them to ask about a refund (as you previous helped be get the charges back, saying that I felt it was unfair and did not cost them that much) but now they are saying they cannot. I know the only solution is to not have an OD but unfortunately that is not going to happen for a very very long time or if I win the lottery. Any advice on this. Kind regards Sharon
  19. hi guys, hopefully i can get some help here. i had a 10k loan with Barclay back in 2001 which had ppi on it, at the time i was earning good wages in my job but unfortunately lost it. apparently my ppi wouldn't cover me because of the reason my work finished. therefore i could not pay it and went into arrears (id payed nearly 4k off by this point). i let it go however and ignored their letters for years until a bailiff turned up at my door to which i payed 2k to over the space of 8 months, (credit security ltd) stopped the payments when i heard they were under investigation via watchdog. now that money has apparently vanished into thin air, but that's another problem. its come to my attention that i could get my ppi back on what ive paid but heres the conundrum, i havnt heard from Barclays for years, i have however had 3 different debt collectors afpter me for the loan. but honestly the last letter i received was nearly 3 years ago now. also the debt is no longer showing on my credit file. should i apply to Barclays to get my ppi back on what i paid, or wud this be like kicking a hornets nest and they start chasing me again? any help would be much appreciated
  20. Received CCA from Barclays, however it is very different to others I received from the same bank. This Loan dates back to 1999, I have already successfully claimed PPI on this. Is this agreement reconstituted? There's no personal detail on the agreement. T&Cs very short. Do they not have to provide signed agreement as per my request? Big question though, can they enforce this agreement? How should I reply? Appreciate if someone can please help me with the reply. Thank you.
  21. Hi everyone, My wife have accounts with Barcalys which were opened in the early 90s. Apart from recent statements, she does not have any other paper works. There are definitely charges and possibly PPI but we need proof before making any complaint. We made a SAR request in Feb 2015 and a LBA went out three weeks ago (April) giving them 7 days but they have not bothered to respond at all yet both letters were signed for. I now want to get a court order for them to comply but I am not sure of how to go about. Which form do I use? How much will it cost? Any example/template of such an order?   22. Between 1st-7th April a number of payments were taken from my debit card, to a company I have never heard of. I contacted barclays who put me through to the fraud team, who said I could open a dispute. I had to wait for forms, and as soon as they recieved them I would get a refund. When the forms arrived I took them into my local branch and asked them to fax them for me, so that they couldn't get 'lost' or anything. I then contacted the fraud department and was told that now I had to wait 10 working days for a refund. 3 days after that I recieved a letter stating it would now be TWENTY working days before I got a refund. I called the bank back and was told it would be 10 and the letter was wrong. 10 working days came and went so I called again, to be told it would be a further 10 working days as I had been informed it would be twenty, not ten (!) At this point I was fairly ****ed off tbh. I contacted the FOS who informed me that I should have received an instant refund when reporting the fraud. They also told me however that I had to follow the banks internal complaints procedure before I could put in a complaint with the FOS. So I put in a complaint. I was then contacted by someone who told me that it would be a 2 more days but for the incorrect information I had been given..he would credit my account with fifty quid as a 'goodwill gesture'. 2 days went, then I recieved another letter telling me my case had been passed to the 'complex investigations team' and would take ANOTHER 20 working days. I was foaming by this point. Called them back and they said to ignore that letter as it was wrong (again). I asked how long this 'investigation' was going to take, and now the timescale didn't exist at all. I was told it 'usually' takes 20 working days but could take much longer. I tried to register another complaint about again being given wrong info by many different staff members, but I was told that as I had accepted a 'goodwill gesture' payment nothing could be done! I hung up the phone in a rage at this point. Probably not the most mature thing to do but I really feel its taking the mick. When I calmed down a bit, a few days later I called again. And was told a letter had been sent to me I received the letter the next say stating that my complaint would not be upheld as fraud investigations take time and not every one is the same, and also stating that they are following FCA rules by withholding my refund for nearly 6 weeks. I was then taken into hospital so I have not contacted them again, nor have they sent me any letters or given me a refund. What can I do now? The barclays complaints department will not even entertain my complaint,. so I can't get a 'final response' letter which is what the FOS said they needed. I am out a large amount of money (to me) and barclays appears to be enjoying messing me around. Its really true when they say bad things come in 3s..had problems with brighthouse, fraud on my bank, and a hospital stay all within a few months of each other
  23. Earlier today I withdrew some cash from an ATM outside Asda. Except, being a complete numpty, I forgot to actually take the cash! Realised when I got home and phoned the supermarket. No one has handed in the cash to the supermarket. Security bloke was very helpful, I gave him a description of myself and he reviewed the CCTV. He confirmed that I only took my card from the machine, and not any cash, and also that no one else used the machine for a good few minutes. The next person that tried to use it appeared to have some trouble with said machine and then went to the neighbouring one instead. He burned the footage to dvd, so there is a permanent copy of it. I have heard that if you don't take the cash promptly, then the machine sucks it back in? Apparently Asda's ATMs are actually operated by Barclays (who I bank with),. Does anyone know how long Barclays' ATMs wait before sucking the cash back in? I'm praying that's what has happened to me, otherwise, someone else took it, in which case my only hope is to report it to the police. I've checked my online banking and the debit is showing already, but no sign of any credit. I guess that would be either be an on my request thing, or a manual process by the bank anyway? I plan to contact them tomorrow.

Hi all I need advice please my dad had an agreement with barclays partner finance for nearly 3 years cleared it a week ago i noticed from random letters he has racked up a few charges such as failed dd and late payment when he was having some difficulties, my dad has just retired and i am looking to claim some money back for him looking for advice on how i do this i would need a statement off them first with all the detailed charges i know that but what letter do i need any help would be appreciated as my dad has just retired and in ill health at 72 i am doing everything i can to help him as he has worked all his life and never claimed a penny back on anything thanks in advance
  25. Just in case anyone is interested - I had an Additions account from the end of 1998. I was told that this was the account I had to have when I finished my studies and was no longer a student. Unluckily for Barclays, I kept ALL my statements! So when I heard about reclaiming charges, I added it all up and sent in a form. No arguments - they paid me back all the fees plus 8% interest per year, even though the account has been closed for a couple of years. I also sent in a claim for the Overdraft PPI that I was charged for many years. Got that back too! Good luck to anyone else reclaiming. Just thought a success story may be useful to hear
