  1. Hi All, I am looking for some experience or advice from anyone around cardonebanking. I set-up my business with them back in July and although their charges are high, they have been reasonable enough. Today I have been informed by their customer services team my account has been closed due to 'ATM Abuse' and must transfer the funds to another account. They have stated I have commited no actual fraud but they received a fraud flag from a card processor company on Tuesday 13th March. On this day, I had issues with an ATM which I tried on 3 occasions but there was a dispenser issues and the money come out. I subsequently, withdraw money from a halifax ATM some 30 minutes later. I just can;t get my head around how they can juse close my account with no reason. It will be an absolute pain to transfer business accounts and now my invoices are now held up as can't pay it in. Can anyone offer any advice, it just seems the worst customer service ever. I feel so helpless. Thanks, Willo53

    Atm

I noticed that the ATM machine in my local Spar shop had a new advert running(the one when the machine is not being used) And it said that the machine was a free to use..get money out/check balance also there is a free ATM sticker on it now, well I thought ok free to use migth as well get some cash out...guess what? When I got to the last screen before it dispenses the money it says This machine will charge you £1.85 to withdraw the money.....is there any rules/laws being broken?
  3. Earlier today I withdrew some cash from an ATM outside Asda. Except, being a complete numpty, I forgot to actually take the cash! Realised when I got home and phoned the supermarket. No one has handed in the cash to the supermarket. Security bloke was very helpful, I gave him a description of myself and he reviewed the CCTV. He confirmed that I only took my card from the machine, and not any cash, and also that no one else used the machine for a good few minutes. The next person that tried to use it appeared to have some trouble with said machine and then went to the neighbouring one instead. He burned the footage to dvd, so there is a permanent copy of it. I have heard that if you don't take the cash promptly, then the machine sucks it back in? Apparently Asda's ATMs are actually operated by Barclays (who I bank with),. Does anyone know how long Barclays' ATMs wait before sucking the cash back in? I'm praying that's what has happened to me, otherwise, someone else took it, in which case my only hope is to report it to the police. I've checked my online banking and the debit is showing already, but no sign of any credit. I guess that would be either be an on my request thing, or a manual process by the bank anyway? I plan to contact them tomorrow.

  5. I need advice in taking this further. went to the ATM last Thursday to withdraw £200, entered my pin etc and it just sat there doing nothing for a couple of mins, it finally put my card out and said "Sorry can not complete this transaction" went to another ATM but this time it said I didn't have enough funds, I found this odd as I had £300 in my current account checked my banking app and the first ATM debited my account for £200 even though I got no money out. I went home and phoned the bank who raised an issue and said I will get my money refunded within 48 working hours I got my money returned until they complete their investigation. yesterday I received a letter from Santander saying they have concluded their investigation and they have decided that the money had been received. I was speechless, how does this happen? these machines have cameras, "Ah thats between you and the ATM operator" When I originally phoned they said they had a log that would say when the card was ejected and the money put out and if there X amount of delay time I would be covered, again "This is between you and the ATM operator" all they would let me do is log a complaint, what the hell do I do now? I am shafted, I have cleared the account, there is not a hope in hell I am repaying something I never received and I will go as far as court if need be
  6. Hi, I recently went to South Africa on holiday. When I arrived, I took out some cash out of an ATM from my credit card and I used a debit card to pay for my car rental. I did not use any of my cards other than that. When I returned home I realised some of my cards were missing. I reported this to my banks as soon as I knew. I was then told that my current account had money taken out of it to the tune of about £1100. All my cards have the same PIN number, but I never used this card out there. The bank refused my fraud claim and I appealed it. On appeal, they refused it again and gave the reason that I was negligent as my PIN was used. I suggested that maybe they saw me use my other card. However, the bank says that from the time I used my card at the airport to the time the first fraud happened, there was a gap of 2 days. The fraudsters would not have waited 2 days to use my card. So they can only assume I am being negligent and I have somehow given away my PIN number. I have contacted the Ombudsman who told me to write to them. I was wondering if someone could advise me here. I thought the bank is responsible for ensuring my money? Will I ever get this money bank? Thanks in advance.
  7. On the 4th Oct, I went to a NATWEST atm as Nationwide was out of service. Printed balance, and then went to top up my mobile. I cancled the transaction, the NATWEST atm the did not give my card back, and went out of service. I had to go to the flat to phone nationwide to cancel my debit card (as they can take sometime to be sent out). at 9.30, I went to my bank (Nationwide) only to find that £130 had been taken... Its now been over 10 working days and noting! What shoud I do?
  8. Barclays is selling most of its ATMs as it prefers to focus on more profitable activities like manipulating LIBOR. I used one in Gibraltar which I was told belonged to Barclays. It debited my account for the sterkling equivalent of 800 euros. But it dispensed no cash I would not have risked so much if I had niot thought that it belonged to Barclays. Actually it ias owned by Raphael`s Bank, a London bank which specialises in foreign exchange. I went to Barclays branch in Gibraltar to complain. They tried to send me away but I said that i was a Barclays customer and had used a Barclays Debit Card. After two hours on the phone, they faxed a claim form which I filled out. I spent another 2 hours at their branch in Faro, Portugal trying to expedite matters. Nothing happenned for 60 days. When I got home I found a letter asking for more information and saying my case would be dropped if I had not replied within 7 days. This was obviously impossible as they should have known since they had my fax from Gibraltar on file . After more complaints I received a fraud form from my Branch which asked me to sign away my legal rights, if nio spare cash was found in the ATM. I refused to sign it. I phoned Raphael`s who told me that they still had the cash but that Barclays had not contacted them. Barclays told me that it was too late to contact Raphael after 60 days. I wrotwe to the new CEO, who claimed that he had not received the letter. I was told that the bank had written back biut that certainly never arrived. The matter was only resolved, without any additional compensation for my worry, loss of holiday and so on after I went to the Press I personally am of the opinion that Barclays has a deliberate policy of trying to fob off ATM incidents, whether in its own or other bank`s machines. This includes the use of dubious fob-off letters. The only answer is to go into the Branch and lengthen the queues. I have already cut up my Barclaycard because of their excessive charges.
