  2. ScottishPower has announced the arrival of the cheapest energy deal on the market with its new plan – the Online Energy Fixed November 2013. At £1,052 a year, the new plan is £2 cheaper than EDF Energy’s Blue+ Price Promise September 2013. It also offers fixed price protection until 31st October, 2013 - one month longer than EDF Energy’s plan. It makes ScottishPower the first of the Big Six energy suppliers to challenge EDF Energy’s position as the cheapest supplier in the market. In April, EDF Energy launched its ‘Blue +Price Promise September 2013′, which guaranteed no price rises until September 2013 and no termination fee if you wanted to switch energy suppliers. http://www.uswitch.com/blog/2012/07/17/scottishpower-rocks-energy-market-prices-again/?utm_campaign=scottishpower-rocks-energy-market-prices-again&utm_medium=rss&utm_source=rss

The European ruling for enforcement is still some time away (2014) but todays announcement involves some of the big carriers. http://www.oft.gov.uk/news-and-updates/press/2012/58-12
