  1. If as I have, ordered and paid for two setees delivery date 23 Feb I would have thought the said insurance would have run concurrently from delivery date onwards not a month before they are delivered has anyone else had same experience.
  2. Hi all. My OH bought one of these from Argos a couple of months ago: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/8331836.htm Last night, my daughter was about to take a shower and the rubber fitting over the hot tap ruptured down the middle, covering her and pretty much the entire bathroom in hot (but thankfully not scalding) water. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like my OH kept the receipt so I doubt that we can return it, but my main concern anyway is that Argos and the manufacturer are aware of the potential fault - if this had happened to someone elderly, the outcome could have been far more serious. I'm not trying to scaremonger here - we checked all the reviews before purchasing, and it's obvious that this isn't a common occurrence! If there are any serial or batch numbers on the shower, I'd be more than happy to provide them if they are required for checks to be made.
  3. BEKO DG582WP gas cooker purchased online June 2010. When this cooker was about 8 months old it developed a fault where the grill would not stay lit after ignition - no matter how long the regulator was held in. I discovered that I could get around this by holding in the regulator and simultaneously jiggling the pin that operates the grill door's gas shut-off device, but at around the 11th month even this trick failed to work and I had to call for an engineer to fix the problem. It redeveloped the same fault around 6 months after the repair, but as the cooker was now out of warranty, I decided to start not shutting the grill door after use to prevent the shut-off device from sticking (it seems to me that the pin that operates the device may be too long, and when the grill door is shut it puts too much pressure on the device causing it to jam), but forgetting myself and shutting the door, leaving it closed overnight, has again rendered the grill useless. Where might I stand with Argos if I claim this is an inherent fault?
  4. Hi there I bought a Nikon Coolpix L120 digital camera from Argos in January this year and until 4 weeks ago, it worked fine. Whilst on holiday, the button that is pressed to take photos suddenly required far more pressure than before - to the extent that taking a picture became very hit or miss. We took the camera back to Argos and, because we couldn't find the receipt, we have had numerous phone calls to ask for information - date the camera was bought, pick-list number and even my debit card number (which I was very concerned about). Argos staff state that if we can't prove purchase i.e. the receipt (how much more can I do and shouldn't they be retaining records to satisfy legislation and accounting standards) Nikon will charge us for any repair! I was under the impression that, as my contract is with Argos, I only have to prove purchase - which I have done by producing the item, box (with Argos item code number stuck to the side, pick-list ticket, date purchased and the debit card details). Surely, they now must concede that I did, indeed, buy the camera and not just nick it. I think Argos need a kick up the jacksy by OFT and, depending on the outcome of this return of faulty goods, I shall be taking this further. Argos staff are surly, rude and blatantly unaware of the Sale of Goods Act and need significant training (along with customer service training). Comments please.....:-x

  6. As requested by a Mod, by I don't know why, heres a thread for people who get xxxxxx off by Argos in cahoots with eBay. As you can see from what happened to a friend of mine (below) you're not alone - Argos habitually sell off their damaged returns and other tut as "Brand New" on eBay, and eBay allow them to do it again and again and again. If you want the truth about Argos and eBay before you get ripped off yourself, check Argos feedback and you'll see how many people get caught by their dishonesty. My mates case: Re: If you have Argos Problems Be warned, this an example of what Argos call "Brand New" and ebay allow Argos to advertise as "Brand New". argos_mixer_7.gif argos_mixer_6.gif http://s1203.photobucket.com/albums/...view=slideshow A private sellers account would be closed down after at most a couple of examples of this level of mis-description - yet if you read Argos' feedback they do it constantly. Argos will not replace an item with a new one and will expect you to send it back to them "for inspection" before refunding using the worst courier company on earth, Yodel, who will often simply lose it in transit giving Argos an out, or it will arrive with Argos damaged and they'll wriggle out that way. The best advice is dont use them. In knowledge lies wisdom Mo - not even a bar-stool lawyer, but I'll help where I can...
  7. I bought a tv from argos for christmas and it has developed a fault, i took it back to argos and was told they would need to send it away for repair??? The thing is 12 weeks old and i do not think i should have to accept a repair on a 12 week old tv i paid full price and did not buy a second hand set!! Is this correct or can i request a replacement?:mad2:
  8. I bought a Samsung Galaxy on Xmas eve for my partner from Argos. When she tried to turn it on it doesn't work or even charge up. Will Argos replace or refund me or will they repair it and I'll have to wait to get it back? Anyone know?
