  1. Has anyone seen the news today re the DWP having underpaid thousands of people on ESA between 2011-2013/?. They are now stating that they will be contacting all of these people and will be paying them the money they should have had. It seems the average amount owed to the majority is around £5,000, but some people could be owed up to £20,000 !. From what I can gather, this underpayment arose because when Incapacity Benefit claimants were transferred onto ESA from 2011, many were mistakenly put onto Contribution-based-based ESA instead of Income-related, which meant that many people who should have received Disability premiums (only available when on Income -related ESA) have not been receiving them. Apparently tbe DWP have been aware of this for up to 5 yrs and not done anything about it. I'm not sure how it has come to light now, but I've been searching online to try to find out. When you are placed on Contribution -based ESA as I was, after 12 mths they are supposed to transfer you onto Income-related ESA and you would then start to receive the Disability Premium/s. This didn't happen so the DWP now owe an estimated amount of £350 million to thousands of people. We need to be on the ball regarding this, as can you imagine the further cock-ups which will probably now happen while DWP are wading through lists of claimants whom they owe this money to and the many who will probably NOT receive any monies owed because, let's face it, DWP have yet again proven that they are incompetent. So why should anyone who now discovers they are owed money trust that the DWP will automatically now pay them this money, plus how long is this all going to take when it involves thousands of claimants ?. If anybody learns any more about this, I'd be grateful If they could post the info here.
  2. The December solstice happens at the same instant for all of us, everywhere on Earth. This year the solstice occurs on Wednesday December 21st at 10:44 GMT (Universal time). The winter solstice happens every year when the Sun reaches its most southerly declination of -23.5 degrees. In other words, when the North Pole is tilted furthest – 23.5 degrees – away from the Sun, delivering the fewest hours of sunlight of the year. The Winter Solstice is the most important day of the year at Stonehenge and a truly magical time to be there. It's an ad hoc celebration that brings together England's New Age Tribes (neo-druids, neo-pagans, Wiccans) with ordinary families, tourists, travelers and party people - 100's of them! For many the impulse to arrive at Stonehenge in time for the Solstice is a little like all those people drawn to the strange rock in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. It's akin to a spiritual experience. Anyone who has witnessed the crowd become silent as the sky begins to brighten can attest to that. Do you have a strange urge, are you feeling drawn to do something a little strange tomorrow. Well can you believe it,the winter solstice is nearly here, another exciting day, when you can let your hair down. Do a little dance perhaps, dress up or visit Stonehenge even and really celebrate. Everything you need to know, including video. And a countdown clock. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/0/winter-solstice-2016-shortest-day-year-time/
  3. Another report predicting the end of the world due to an asteroid. Every week in a newspaper there is a report of someone predicting the end of human life on Earth due to an asteroid hit. Of course this is just in someones imagination and there is no proof. But if there was an asteriod due to hit the Earth causing either huge damage to countries or the end of all human life, would NASA or any other official body make any announcement ? Of course the answer is no announcement would be made and any reports of asteroids likely to be catastrophic would be denied. There would be a total panic with people running riot in public, committing crimes and doing things because of the limited time left. The chances are that no asteroid announcement would be made until it was visable to many and it could not be denied. A few months ago an asteriod that had not been identified previously was a near miss to Earth in space terms, proving that NASA and other bodies cannot currently track all asteriods.
  4. http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/protect/2015/06/motorist-takes-parking-charge-challenge-to-highest-uk-court I would now argue that if any PPC try to use the current judgement in their claim that the defendant highlights that an appeal has now been filed and the reference to Bevis be inappropriate until the supreme court make a ruling. Let us hope common sense prevails.
  5. Travelling down the M5 to my 78 year old mother to bring here back to Nottingham for Christmas, my rear wheel bears were failing, so I limped the car into Michael woods services, to do repairs on both sides, under a lamp post as it was late, and raining, I had to ask for grease at the petrol station they had none, so I approached lorry drivers for help. Having missed the car area parking, which is easy to, aspecially at night, I ended up under parking under a low lamp post which was I thought a good position to see. there were 3 drivers which I spoke to, and no warning, in regard to charges, from them, as the man in the station also never warned me. I made repairs with to tools I had brought with me, because I could not afford AA, or RAC, cover, there was a recovery truck were I was pulling up and thought I could get some grease from him, but as I approatched he drove off, I was ,disappointed I asked a truck driver If they had any grease, and one said I could take some from under his artic. Repairs done, I exited Michael wood services and travelled down to Portland Dorset to my mothers. Before retuning back to Nottingham I purchased new bearing and put them in the rear wheels, return journey was good. This morning received charges for over staying from parking eye, why would I want to stay longer than is nessarey repairs took 2 hours 52 mins,in the cold dark wet night!! niper
