  1. ever we aren't here simply for you to visit and to try do a hatchet job on British Telecom or any other company. I'm sure you will find lots of other places you can try to do that. If you want some help to try to correct some injustice or to recover money which you think has been unlawfully taken from you et cetera – then please layout your story in a new thread. Please don't bother about all the emotive narrative. It's unhelpful. This forum is run by volunteers who have other things to do in their lives as well. We just need the facts of the case. We need you to respond quickly with additional detail if we ask for it – and
  2. The responsibility is British Telecom's. You are being fobbed off. You should keep control of this and that means that you should reject any attempts by British Telecom to pass you on to someone else. Why have you hidden the name of the contractor? What is the name of the solicitor who sent you this message? I understand that you have an independent valuation of the damage. Is that in writing? What is the value of the repairs?
  3. do that today online. Then we will have to write a further letter to British Telecom depending on what you find. I think you should be entitled to some compensation if you are prepared to push for it. If it really has come to an end now then I £100 or so is easily achievable. If they have sent it out to a debt collector then we are talking more and if it appears on your credit file then I think in the circumstances we could be looking at £200 or £300. We will have to find out who they have shared your data with. This will be very important. So please address the question about whether you have contracted as business. T
  4. k Talk Ltd in the past. However from July 2015 my supplier was switched to British Telecom. Due to a data breach at Talk Talk exposing my personal information to hackers. 4.Furthermore, the claimant has given no details as to the breakdown of their claim, so the defendant is unable to defend specifically. 5. The claimant openly admits that they do not have access to the agreement nor was the Assignor required to retain a copy. Therefore, their claim is unsubstantiated. Pursuant to the civil procedure rules Practice Direction 16 (7.3) Where a claim is based upon a written agreement: (1) a co
  5. ave been accepted throughout the industry – even by the big players like British Telecom. There were industry agreements which simply meant that if they were approached by another supplier, then they honoured that suppliers instruction to close you down and to transfer your service without any authority from the customer. It was assumed that the new supplier had obtained this authority. In fact this wasn't the case. I don't know what happened but I can imagine that unscrupulous employees were selling off data to unscrupulous suppliers who would then use the slack systems and not worry about data breaches in order to get customers transferre

  7. ther search Error code: 1C205/3 and a search for "BT" and "British Telecom" produced no results. Who would have thought it!
  8. EDF, Npower, Scottish Power, SSE, Thames Water, Welsh water, British Gas, British Telecom, virgin, TalkTalk,… and the list goes on. None of these people have ads appearing on their websites to bother their customers. People who visit this forum can always get ad blockers – but what this means is that we lose the little bits of revenue that we do get – whereas to all the big companies – some of which I've listed above – it doesn't matter a jot. In fact if you want to know, the companies I have listed above would probably be very pleased if everybody installed ad blockers. This would mean that all of the help forums, hobby foru
  9. Dear BT, I am a new customer - I switched because I was told you were 'The Best'. I am happy with the Broadband services For the most part, I am happy with the telecom services, however, you MUST cease blocking calls to my land line. Specifically, you must cease telling the people you are blocking - that I have made the request to block them. I haven't - the reasons I have not asked you to do this, are A: one of the numbers you appear to be blocking is a hospital and I need to receive these calls - the other is a good friend ... and B: I wasn't even aware this service was available? How many other customers ar
  10. country, then I'm really not quite sure what else you can do. Don't expect British Telecom to come to the table willingly and don't expect much support from the ombudsman.
  11. knowing about it. I know because I've been on the end of it happening with British Telecom. I certainly agree that the first thing to do is to send off an SAR, and you seem to have done this. Not a lot you can do until you receive the results. When you receive the disclosure then you will need to go through it very carefully not only to find out what is there – but also to try and figure out what is not there. I'm very interested to learn that they have responded to you refusing to give you certain information which applies to you on the basis that it is subject to the Data Protection Act. I'd be very grateful if you cou

  14. ge deal. The big problem is that if you simply stop paying them, then British Telecom will do what they are very good at – they will leap into action, decide that you are defaulting on your debt, blight your credit file, and start making trouble for you and effectively wreck your financial life up to 6 years. Like many of these companies they are stupid bullies. There are two things that you could do. You could complain to the regulator and although the regulator is generally speaking quite limp wristed, your situation ceased to be so blatant, that I expect that they would be a finding in your favour. However, this is li

  17. As the topic asks Do we have the email address of the BT executive Complaints, not the normal phone drones. I did have Ian Livingston but i do not think he is with BT any more Thanks
  18. s it say "Debt Assigned" If not then i would be contacting the CEO of British Telecom, i am sure a poster will have an up to date email address
  19. of the banks and finance industries PPI mis-selling. Everybody's at it and British Telecom is no exception. You'll probably find is that some British Telecom employee got a commission when they added it to the products that you had bought. I suggest that you begin by making a claim to them on the basis that this is an insurance product that was mis-sold. BT will knock you back – then go to the communications regulator. However like most industry regulators, Ofcom is weak, limp wristed and bias towards the industry and they will probably do nothing as well. In terms of the continuation of the contract now, it is clear that it
  20. Welcome to the world of British Telecom. I imagine that there are hundreds maybe thousands of other people in similar positions to yourself you can't get the attention that they need. Just imagine what is going to happen when British Telecom finally takes over EE. It's clear that they simply aren't up to running a large organisation in a customer facing way and I expect it's going to be disaster for everyone. I think that the first thing you need to do is to decide who you going to go with. Are you going to go with Talk Talk? Are you going to go to British Telecom? Once you have decided this, we can then set about examining exactly
  21. stop my VISA DEBIT card for no good reason. I had just paid online a BT (British Telecom) bill which they thought (as stated to me when I called them) ‘suspicious’. They were in possession of two contact telephone numbers for me. They did not call either of there although when I talked to them they lied and said they had called them. This is not the first time they have done this to me. Why do any of us stay with this rubbish bank? I’m going to see my local management tomorrow and take him up one side and down the other. For all the good it will do, At least I may feel a bit better
  22. nd pretend that you are an interested customer who wants to move away from British Telecom that you are worried about the cancellation charges. If you can trap them into making the same claim about no cancellation charges – then you have them and frankly I would then go ahead and rip their heads off – and we will help you do it. If you can't do this, then unless you can find sufficient similar other stories on the Internet then you have a very slim chance indeed of getting a County Court judge to accept your story if you decided to begin a County Court claim – which is probably the only way. You could of course try to ask BES
  23. Hi can anyone help me? I transferred my British Telecom line rental account several years ago when I moved home. The account was transferred to my brother's name after he became the sole occupant of my old house. The transfer was effected over the phone with BT, and it seemed to go smoothly. A few months ago I learnt that BT had sent a bill to my old address, in my name, I emailed them via their website and told them that the bill was erroneous because I ceased to be a BT customer years before. This email went without reply. I then phoned their customer service help line and explained the situation to them
