  1. Hi I would appreciate some advice. I recently signed up to CPP and this includes access to my credit file. I checked my credit file and noticed a default for money owed to Virgin Media. I found this very strange as I've not been a Virgin customer for many years. So I called Virgin and they told me I owed them 1 penny since 2007 and this is why it was on my credit file. They were very "sorry" and said they will credit my account with 1 penny but they cannot remove the default notice. Is there anything I can do about this?
  2. Hi Glennyw Your situation is very similar to mine. I suggest you write to Paragon and ask for a copy of the original documents. They should have the documents from Loanmakers. They will probably tell you to contact Loanmakers, which you should do anyway. Good luck
  3. I would like to start reclaiming mis-sold PPI from London Scottish Bank. I understand that they are under administration so do I still proceed as usual and contact them or do I claim from the FSCS?
  4. So today I received a letter from Paragon which states: "In signing your credit agreement, you confirmed that the premium for the insurance of £7931.00 was to be added to the amount of your cash loan. Paragon, in good faith, has funded the purchase of the insurance on your behalf. On cancelling your insurance the rebate you were entitled to was £1156.78 which was applied to the outstanding balance on your account". Can somebody please advise me as the PPI premium with interest was £12772.80. Surely they should refund at least part of the interest.
  5. Thanks for all the help. I can confirm that the figures are correct and taken directly from the agreement. I'll write to them and get a full statement.
  6. Hi Could somebody please advise me with regard to paying off our combi boiler. About 3 years ago we had a combi boiler installed by British gas. The salesman arranged for finance via First National. We just enquired about our balance and realised we still owe a large amount. After checking the documents we noticed the following: The cash price was £3385.75 The APR was 19.6% The monthly interest was 1.46% The credit amount was £3215.75 120 monthly payments of £56.00 As of today our balance is £3200 My question is: Does the credit amount sound right? It's almost double the cash amount and we are not sure how they worked this out. I also need to mention that we currently pay more than the normal monthly instalment as we missed some payments. We will probably repay the amount in much less than 120 months. Please advise.
  7. Thanks, I assumed that was the case. What confuses me is the monthly repayments before I cancelled the PPI and after I cancelled the PPI. According to their statement my monthly payment was £438.00 which included £78.98 for the PPI. Now that I cancelled the PPI, they reckon my monthly payment is £417.11. How did they work that one out? Surely my monthly payment must be £438.00 minus £78.98. Right or wrong?

  9. Hi Please can somebody help with these calculations. Just can't get my head around the figures. Our loans was for £36 000. On top of this they added £7931 for PPI. On the agreement is says the PPI will be £12772.80 with interest. We started paying this loan in December 2005. I've cancelled the PPI at the beginning of this month and asked for a statement. The statement says that I've paid £3253.59 for the PPI up to the date I cancelled. At the moment the FOS is dealing with my mis-sold PPI so I think they will be working on the amount of £3253.59. What I don't get is the new loan instalment. Last month the instalment was £438 which £78.98 was for PPI. When I asked Paragon what my new instalment is they said £417.11. This does not make any sense and I'm very confused. I'm not really sure what to do and would appreciate some help with the monthly instalment.
  10. Helped me???? This is the same issue but just got the figures today.

  12. Well, just got a call from Paragon. They asked me if I was going to continue my claim and also said they will restructure my loan as I have now cancelled the PPI. I think he was just trying to find our whether I was serious about the claim. He also suggested that I should claim from the broker (London Scottish PLC). To be honest I was very surprised they called me. Will have to wait and see what happens now.
  13. Thank you so much for your help. I'll do the above ASAP..
  14. Well as expected Paragon said that they did not sell me the PPI and that I should contact e-loans. E-loans does not trade anymore so I assume I will have to contact the FSCS. Should I send another letter to Paragon? I'm going to cancel my PPI anyway but should I also mention that I think they should refund my PPI?
