  1. ..... forgot to mention..... nipped in earlier today to get some dvd's, and they still had it on sale! after the manager said on Monday that he'd take it off the shelf and inform Head office. that can't be right surely? didn't have time to to explain it to the cashier, just got my goods and left! I'll probably send thier HO and email, if they ever get read!
  2. Hi again. Spoke to Asus on the phone friday (0870 number, say no to 0870.com sorted out that ) told them the problem, but couldn't help at that time because the office hrs were 9-5 and I just happen to call at 4.55! and he didn't have a clue! but he did take my number and say they'lll call back on monday mid morning.. no call so didn't hang around and took the laptop back, and explained the problem to the sales assistant/tech guy! (...the latter word I use very loosely!!) who asked me if I had tried a 'factory restore'!!!!!! 'Oh I see,' I said. 'I suppose that will upgrade the graphics card and CPU so that the DVD will play' !!!! at which point he must have realised he'd not completely understood the problem. He took the laptop up the back to 'test' it, and returned and told me that it doesn't work!!!!! I told him to try the one on display, which he did, which also never worked! so he went up to the back and returned 5 minutes later, said that there must be a problem with that model and that he'll exchange the laptop as an act of goodwill, because I've had the laptop longer than 28 days and usually under their policy they dont exchange goods!!! I replied 'Well I dont care if it's 328 days, you've just admitted that there's a fault with the laptop, gave him a bit of SOGA ......they must be as described, fit for purpose and of satisfactory quality (i.e. not inherently faulty at the time of sale). and you said there's a fault!..He'll speak to the manager and see what he can do! after that point it was plain sailing!! swapped laptop for another make, which was dearer when I bought mine but was now at the same price .. so I'm a happy bunny!!! CAG rules!!!!
  3. .......my neck of the woods!... perhaps for a small 'administration fee' me and 'The boys' can pay a visit. lol . hope you get it sorted!
  4. Can you believe it...... the laptop turned itself off and won't come back on!! no power! must have heard me slagging it off earlier so now its sulking . Its definately going back tomorrow now!! If they offer to replace it with the same model, I'm going to make sure they play a blu ray disk first!..
  5. Hello Everyone. I bought this laptop about 2 months ago, since day one it has been unable to play a blu ray DVD. everytime I try and play a Blu ray DVD the software freezes! Ive tried other software but get the same results, the software stops responding, It does play normal DVD's but not the blu-ray. I've seen a posting on another site, for exactly the same problem, which was diagnosed as a problem with the specs of the laptop, being the bare minimum specs for running blu ray software. What I really need to know is what options do I have, the way I see it, is that I've been sold a laptop that obviously isn't up to the job its meant to do.... Play a blu-ray dvd Is it possible to get a refund? I dont really need a refund, just a laptop thats supposed to do what it's meant to! Its not really faulty as such, so the option for repair is not viable. looks like I'm going to have to buy a more expensive laptop any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
  6. .....I just told this to my other half, she's never good at these type of things!!)... SHE GOT IT RIGHT WITHIN 15 SECONDS ..... me thinks it's time to start learning to sleep with one eye open!! (hopefully this isn't my last post!!!!)
  7. ...Hi I'm an independant retailer, 2 days ago I inadvertently sold a pair of shoes and left the sensor tag inside!! can I press charges of theft and damge to my property... (due to the fact that it would have to be damaged to remove the sensor!) ...against the customer for failing to return the sensor!!!!
  8. I believe the warehouse staff had the TV box upside down when the tag was put in!
  9. ...forgot to mention... you said that you got redundancy, they will take this into consideration, and, if you have 'capital' over £16000 you will be entitled to nought. AND if you and partner have 'capital' of over £6000 then the benefit would be subjected to a 'levy' of £1 for every £250 (or part of..) over the £6k... also if you have children and they have 'capital' of £3000 or more this can also effect your claim!!
  10. Hi Tedsbird... Sorry to hear about your predicament with JCP... Firstly, the advisor who gave you that information was wrong!, it doesnt matter if you're a millionaire, you make a claim by filling in the forms which are then passed onto the adjudicator to assess whether you are entitled to a claim. it is then that you will be told if you are ellegable to Jobseekers allowance or not. If you have paid enough National Insurance you may be able to get contribution-based Jobseeker's Allowance. (which is payable for 26 weeks then switches to income based) If you have income and savings below a certain level you may be able to claim income-based Jobseeker's Allowance. if you're out of work or working less than 16 hours a week on average, you can make a claim to get Jobseeker's Allowance. if you are turned down you can appeal. The only downside is you have one month after getting a decision to ask for it to be explained, reconsidered or to appeal, if you do get a reconsideration and its not in you favour you have one month deadline from then to appeal, obviously your limitations have run out. (but only because of the ineptness of some staff... and I know I've managed a Jobcentre!!!) you could try here Social Security and Child Support Appeals Tribunal - How to appeal but this is really for appeals that have been heard by a tribunal and refused, but its worth a look over just in case. JCP can backdate a claim within the last tax year, (depends on circs) if you need more info of when you first applied for jobseekers allowance, go and ask at your local jobcentre , as they will have the original date of your initial claim!... Good luck..
