  1. I have proof that I made a payment of £115 to Wescot in April 2009 in the form of a bank statement but that's it. So not really.
  2. This week I received a letter from Debt Managers Ltd at my dads house saying the following: Dear Miss XXXX XXXXXX Our ref: Re: Miss XXXX XXXXXX We are attempting to contact the above named person and our client's recent investigations have resulted in your details being obtained from a credit reference agency. Your address has been provided by them due to a link with the data our client holds, as a possible new address for the person we are wishing to contact. To verify that you are the person we are wishing to contact, or if you believe you are not the subject, please contact us urgently on 0843 2168300 so that our records can be updated appropriately. If we do not receive a response to this letter within 7 days, we will assume the link is correct and further communication will be made. Yours Sincerely, Debt Management LTD This is worrying the hell out of me, as in the summer of this year I was contacted by Wescot Credit Services at my dads address about a Kays Catalogue debt I had paid off through them in 2009 (the debt originated in 2007), saying it was still outstanding. I disputed the debt, and after a month of trying to find proof I did pay it, I called them back only to be told the debt had been withdrawn from them. So I'm thinking this is to do with the same thing, though it doesn't say ANYTHING about what this supposed debt is. I understand I should send them a letter asking for proof and not to call them, but I'm worried someone will turn up at my dads house, and he is 75 and not very well. If it's about the Kays account try as I might I can't find proof I paid it as letter from 2009 are long gone due to moving.
  3. I joined the CAG forums a while ago but at the time things were pretty rough for me, so now things are a little better I have decided to say hi, and start the ball rolling to try and get our ban charges back from the Halifax. My husband was diagnosed with schizophrenia around october 2005, and as a result our income fluctuated. I wasn't working already due to my own health problems, when he had to have time off it really hit us where it hurt, the bank account. Halifax keeps charging us, and even though we have been into the bank numerous times to talk to the manager, we have been told they will not help us, they can't stop bank charges, and its our own fault. They were really unhelpful, and very uncaring. Then it got worse. At the beginning of this year the Halifax has started charging us £30 for going even £1 over our overdraft limit. When we complained, we were told again it was our fault and should be more careful. How can they justify charging £30 for a £1 unauthorized overdraft?! As a result my husband and myself are being charged £60 + a month, normally for going no more than £5 over our limit. We can't carry on like this. As of next month we are using my HSBC account and paying off the overdraft on the Halifax account before finally closing it. But first, I want to claim my charges back. I don't know if it will be sucessful, but at this point in time I have nothing to lose. Problem is, I am awful at all this legal stuff, so I may need a tiny bit of help sorting it all out Right now I feel a little overwhelmed, but also a little dizzy about te fact we might get even a little money back. It will be such a nelp if we do,and a huge weight off our minds.
