  1. Update: Hi all, I sent my letter off asking for Dosh and I got this letter back: Barclays Bank Retail Banking Customer Relations Leicester Dear Ms xxxxx. We are sorry you have had to contact us about the level of Service you have received from Barclays. Thank you for taking the time and trouble to do so. We are looking into your concerns and will let you have an answer or update as quickly as possible, but no later than 28th February 3007. In the meantime if you wish to discuss this matter further please call us bla bla bla. I have enclosed a leaflet explaining how Barclays works to resolve complaints. I hope you find this useful. Well I bloomin' would have done if you'd flippin' enclosed it! Yours sincerely Shuaib Dawood Customer Care Advisor Now, I've got a couple of questions: Has anyone received a letter like this - it seems to be quite non-threatening or is this the standard 'buy more time' letter? Do I wait until 28th Feb or just go ahead and send the second letter on the 14 day deadline which is 12th Feb? Any help would be much appreciated! thanks!
  2. OK here's my story so far- 8/12/06 - Sent letter requesting charges In the interim opened Cahoot bank account with no problems whatsoever (this is a good one IMO as some accounts require you pay your salary in or a minimum amount per month, but Cahoot don't. AND very little hassle if you need to swap direct debits/standing orders). 09/1/07 - local branch ring me to say that the statement bundle has arrived but is an inch thick and rather than post in about 10 envelopes would I like to pick it up (the girls in my branch are really nice). Picking it up on Friday (I'm off anyway)to go through with a fine tooth comb. Moved house - yuk! 29/1/07 - sent my letter asking for dosh £1,305.00 exactly. Playing the waiting game now...BUT in exactly 14 days I'll be on their case again! Thanks for your advice so far - will make a donation WHEN I win.
  3. Thanks guys - thats crystal clear now! Thought it might be too difficult to work the overdraft interest out so I have left it off - want to do this right. Sent my letter today asking for dosh. Watch this space!
  4. I'm a tad confused - I'm just sorting out the letter asking for my money back and I'm not sure what you put in the interest bit: What I require I calculate that you have taken £XXXXX plus £XXX which you have charged me in overdraft interest for the sum which you have taken. Total £XXXXX . I enclose a schedule of the charges which I am claiming with this letter How does this show up on my statement - is it overdraft interest? I'm not sure that any unauthorised O/D interest is specifically broken down on my statement, it looks like a I pay a fee for my overdraft - is it that? Thanks
  5. Can anyone help me please. I'm just in the process of writing the letter asking for my dosh back and it has bit you fill in on overdraft interest. On my bank statements it says 'account fee'. A few questions: Do I need to include this interest when asking for my money back. If so, is the 'account fee' charge or would it clearly say 'interest' on my statements? Thanks
  6. Hi everyone! This board has been great - thanks for all the advice recieved so far! I'll be sending a donation when I win (thats when...not if! OK here's my story so far- 8/12/06 - Sent letter requesting charges In the interim opened Cahoot bank account with no problems whatsoever (this is a good one IMO as some accounts require you pay your salary in or a minimum amount per month, but Cahoot don't). 09/1/07 - local branch ring me to say that the statement bundle has arrived but is an inch thick and rather than post in about 10 envelopes would I like to pick it up (the girls in my branch are really nice). 7. Thanks guys! What I want to try and do is when it comes to asking for my money back is to send the letter based on the amount due PLUS interest, because I want to use this a negotiation tool (i negotiate as part of my job). So when they come back with a partial offer I can then say "well, if you pay up the full amount before court you won't have to pay the interest". I have seen the letter somewhere but I can't remember where! It's slightly different from the rejection of settlement letter. any ideas? Thanks!
  8. Hi, Please can someone point me in the right direction. I can't seem to find a template letter for rejecting my bank's offer, but saying if they pay in full before court I won't charge them interest. Thanks!
  9. Silly me! Thanks for the info noomill060. After looking again at the letter I have realised that due to reports to the IC it seems we are getting somewhere. If I am claiming for 6 years that takes me from the year 2000 to 2006, they say that data previous to that (i.e 1999-2000) is stored on Microfiche - therefore they are giving me 6 years statements anyway! Doh! Hope it's a smooth ride!
  10. I'm a new member on here and have just started the ball rolling with Barclays. I've sent the SAR letter with a £10 cheque and had the £10 cheque sent back with the standard letter but also says about them storing information from 1999 to 2000 on Microfiche. I've seen loads of threads about Microfiche and Barclaycard but none about Barclays. Has anyone had any letter back from Barclays saying statements are stored on Microfiche and what have they done about getting those actual statements apart from reporting them to the IC. Thanks
