  3. thx..i have already registered on that website and YCC rang me today!!!!...they will accept the VT if i give them £80 to take it to Leeds (the auction place) and they want Half the insurance (i got 50% off) which is approx £588 and the whole affair will be completed. i complained about A) the £80...it didnt state anywhere i would have to pay and B) the fact i am self employed for the last 7 years. i was told to put it all in writing and they will see what arrangement can be done...so i will be doing just that. any ideas how i should word my letter?
  4. and how do i contact this compliance finance guy and is there a template letter i can use...sorry for being a thicko
  5. it seems i have been foolish and purchased not 1 but 2 cars from these people. car 1 is gone and car 2 was purchased in Sept 04 f0r £7458.24 (Incl interest) and also had the PPI and GAP insurance (£2967.36). i was under the understanding that i had to pay these even though i was self employed at the time. i pay £217.20 over 48 months of which we are now in month 30.now it has come to my attention that i should claim back the insurances, yet am unsure how to. also i have surpassed the amount i need, to terminate the agreement and hand back the car (3729.12), but the question i'm asking is do i go for the refund of insurances before i terminate the agreement or can i still chase the refund after i terminate ? either way i have been bent over and done!!!!
  6. would be interested in the outcome of this as i too took this out!!
  7. i too took out PPI with YES/DAF and was/am self employed. does this mean i can claim back a mis-sold insurance policy and if so...why?. i am just about to tell them i want a VT on my agreemnet..will this go for me? jedpm
  8. i had a run in with drakes and although my car is under an HP agreement, they stated they could still seize the car as they could have an arrangement with the HP company who would settle the debt but u would still have to settle ur outstanding HP debt!! Having spoken to my HP company they informed me that drakes sometimes took the car and kept it!!!! i forked out over £600 to the baliff for a unpaid speeding fine. oh how i wish i had spotted this website earlier:(
  9. loan was with abbey (*didnt want to post the name just in case!). my argument was that the money initially was there to take the loan. 1 month later down the line i dont have the funds now to clear it, initially thinking that my present balance included having paid that debt off. if u know what i mean. my annoyment is with the incompetancy of the staff and the fact they refuse to review 1500 calls to see which one was mine. the notes on their pc screen indicates that my telephone copnversation was terminated halfway through. on enquiring as to why they never rang me back i was informed they cant make outgoing calls for that department. i asked why they didnt send a letter as this was over 1 month old and they responded with a "dunno". if i was in any doubt that the payment was never taken..why didnt i ring back?? common sense tells me i would, but having thought i cleared the debt and been told to cancel the direct debit, i feel abbey are employing muppets are staging a coverup!
  10. Hi new top this and glad i found this site. hopefully u can help me. i had a loan with abbey and thought i had paid it off with an early settlement figure. reviewing mt statement it turns out i havent and their records suggest that my phone call was terminated half way through of which i dont recall and the money was never taken from my account. anyway they say i still owe a lot of money and i asked for the telephone conversation tape recording to be reviewed and i'm told there are over 1500 on that particular day and that it isnt possible. why would i be told to cancel my direct debit if the account wasnt cleared??...i'm not sure if this is the correct part to post in, so apologies in advance. any thoughts?
