  1. Do you think I should ring them and say I am in the process of filling out a court form, but would rather settle out of court as long as they agree to my terms, ie: more money and by cheque!! (which would save them the court costs) What do you think?
  2. Hee hee PKea, I like that!! Think I'll do the same. Now just have to figure out how to fill out a claim form!! There's two types online apparently - which would you say is best? Thanks
  3. Thanks for your help, I've tried this approach and they won't seem to budge, I said it is my money to do with as I like, and if they won't give it to me I will take them to court and they more or less said 'ok carry on'. If I fill out a court claim can I specify that I want the funds by cheque? Thanks for all your help
  4. Barclays have offered me a settlement, but will only put it towards my overdraft and will not send me a cheque. Surely this is my money to allocate how I want, I have other things to pay. Can they do this? If not, does anyone know how I should go about getting a cheque from them? Please help!!!

    Paypal

My paypal account was limited nearly 6 months ago with £320 of my money resting in the account, Paypals reason for limiting my account was 'potential high risk activity'. I have no idea what this means, nor will they give me any more info. However they have said that they will release my funds once six months has expired which will be March, am I able to claim interest on this money? Thanks:)
  7. HOW DID YOU DO THIS?!!! Its fantastic. I have written to nationwide claiming my £6500 (inc 8% interest), and they have said no, so sent my third letter threatening court action and they have just written back basically telling me to get lost!!! I suppose I will have to fill out a court form is it? Did your claim actually go to court or did they settle just before? Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks
  8. Hi there, thanks loads, will send my letter before action now! Cheers
  9. I have received all my statements from Nationwide, sent a letter requesting my charges plus interesting back, totalling approx. £6k, they have now written back saying no basically, not even an offer!!! Can someone give me an idiots guide on what to do next! Thanks loads!
  10. Hi there, quite new to all this reclaiming charges lark, but sent SAR to Nationwide, received statements, so then sent letter requesting my charges back, they replied saying 'no' basically. What do I send now? And is filing a court claim easy? Any advice would be much appreciated!!! Thanks.
  11. Thanks Dean204, I'm definitely going to look into this, I have a receipt from the baliff etc so will start the detective work with that!! Hopefully I will get to the bottom of it and get some of my money back, but if ot is a con like you say I will notify the police. Thanks
  12. Hi there, I rung them to say they have no right to do this as it is my money and I should be able to do what I like with it, and they said they are well within their rights to pay it towards my overdraft, and that basically that is what they'll be doing whether I like it or not!!! It makes me so mad!!!
  13. Hi there, I don't really know as I never actually received a ticket!! From the baliff papers it seems I was parked in a loading bay, and received a standard £30 fine. Thanks
  14. I had a parking fine apparently some time ago, however I never received a ticket! Now though a baliff has called to the house and the original ticket of £30 is now a debt to me of £170. Can they do this? They could be plucking names out of thin air for all I know!!! Can I do anything about this? - I have now paid the £170. Thanks
  15. Hello, I have been pursuing Barclays for my charges over the last 6 years, they have finally written back to me offering a sum as a 'goodwill gesture'!!! Anyway, they say they will use this money to pay off the debt I owe them, i.e my overdraft, however this account is closed and I have been paying back my overdraft on a monthly basis. Are they entitled to do this because I wanted this money to pay off something else. I hope this makes sense and would appreciate any advice on how to have access to what is rightfully mine, bearing in mind that my overdraft wouldn't be so high if they hadn't put the ridiculous charges on my account in the first place!!! THANKS
  16. Hi Jaime, just been reading this thread and its all a bit confusing for me!! Could you tell me what the outcome was on your claim, as I had to pay early settlement charges on a secured loan I had when I remortgaged, and it seems extremely unfair. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  17. Hi Emma, did you get a result with this? Very interested as I am in the same position and would love to know how to claim back the money!!! Thanks!
  18. Hi there, thanks so much for your helpful replies. i am definitely going to move forward with this, the amount of money I've paid over the years is scandalous!!! Not really sure how to use this site fully yet, its a bit trial and error, so thanks for the templates. I guess I have to write to these companies asking for my statements yes? Do I enclose the standard £10? Thanks!!
  19. Hello, does anybody know if you can claim back charges from store cards and loan companies, if yes - how?!! Is it the same as claiming from banks? Thanks
