  1. Swift Cover have canceled my policy due to me owing them money on a previous policy with a different car. They have charged me £52.50 for the pleasure and say that there are no monies due back to me. Can an insurance company do this as the current policy was up to date just as it has been for the last four years?
  2. Hi, I have recently finished at my job after being there for four years. This was due to my company employing somebody from one of their competitors to come in to do my job and effectively moving me down a level. I was therefore going to leave on the grounds of constructive dismissal. My employer therefore agreed to a compramise agreement where I was paid 4k. I am now having to move back to my home town 100 miles away as I originally moved for this job. The move is costing me 3K. I have been in full time employment for 12 years now and have a wife and three children to support and am wandering if I will be able to claim benefits as the reason for me leaving is not redundancy.
  3. Hi there Daddysam, Just to let you know as an ex employee that they are scare tactics. As far as I am aware WFS have never repossesed. It seems maybelline has getting some real results since I last posted on this thread, so read through the whole thread and take her advise. If you are currently in arrears it is important you come up with some agreement with them without signing anything.
  4. No I need to get some legal advice. I used to work for Welcome Finance and we were not able to default and terminate until 60 days in arrears. Does this make the agreement uninforcable? It's just working out where to get reliable information.
  5. First Response have terminated my agreement when I was less than one payment behind £125 arrears and payment is £165. Is this allowed. I have had threatning letters stating they will reposess the car, I have informed them if they wish to do this they will require a court order as well over one third is paid. They have kept ringing me at work when I have asked them not to. I have quoted the Admin of justice act and they say they are unaware of it. My car has cost me £650 in repairs this year and has a rust issue. It is only 5 years old. Can anyone help me understand if they are in the wrong esspecially with the termination. P.S. they did send a default notice before hand but was unable to pay.
  6. Thanks Diskmandave, Can anybody help with the timing of the Default and termination notice at all.

  8. As above they would need to prove he had no knowledge. If for instance it was advertised in a paper etc they would have no chance.
  9. Also the 50% only applies to what you have paid towards the loan and you can still be liable for any insurances taken. I.e you pay £100 pm but £25 may be towards the insurances, so you can only take into account the £75 each month in your calculations. The insurance liability is way above my head I'm affraid but somebody else may be able to help.
  10. When you have a change of circamstances welcome can do what is called a modified HP agreement. This is one form that then stands along side your original agreement. On their system though it is treated as a new HP agreement and it pays off the old one. They then need to reset up the HPI, but always forget. If you had paid enough to VT before you modified your agreement then you will still have this option. You could start being difficult and ask for a short settlement, You can get as low as 25% of the outstanding balance (just tell them you have sold the car or that you will VT) then sell the car to cover the cost.
  11. If they contacting you in regards to remortgage they mean secured loan. There is alot of pressure to get around 80k per branch in secured loans each month and they are desperate to lend it to anyone even customers they have had problems with.
  12. No it's not right at all. Have you dealt with more than one person at the branch about this, Not all Account Managers can be trusted. I would call H/O and discuss it with them.
  13. Dump it in their car park and ring Head Office to explain what you have done. If you have had a default on the account before you told them to collect the car you will be liable for the balance including interest for the term of the loan and make good costs (RAC report) minus what they get for the car from auction.
  14. FACT: Welcome have never reposessed a house. They may threat to but your account will go to the LCU (local collections unit) who can accept a third of your payment and freeze your interest. But you would recieve a Default on you credit file.
  15. The customer account managers (CAM) vary with their charges as it does add to the balance and this can effect their targets which does go against them. Some use it as a threat and this is then classed as punishment and from what I have read would go in your favour if you had an answerphone message to say this. they should be able to produce a statement for your previous account at the branch. Just out of intrest which branch have you been dealing with?
  16. I am not 100% sure but I am aware of Account Managers putting card payments through on the last day of the month without permision to hit their targets. This leads to dismissal. Also they do not hold a license to hold the card details on file like say AOL or lovefilm do. Hope this answers your question.
  17. You can VT the car at any point of the agreement. Welcome can not stop you doing this. The branches are targeted on the amount of debt they have written off. VT is classed as written off. They should take your request and somebody from central recoveries will call you within 24hrs. If not contact HO yourself. Branch will then be in trouble. You will howether have a liability. if you do not pay it straight away they will try to arrange a loan for it. If you hold off for a couple of weeks and ask for a settlement figure it will be very small. I have seen 4K turn to £99. I left WFS 10 months ago and it may have changed, but from my experiance of working for the company for 4 years and running 3 branches I somewhat doubt it
  18. Hi Maybelline I used to work for welcome and the following info may be of some use. MIDA is the diary system used, and also where they note all contacts with yourself. Here are the abbreviations you will see. WTM - Welcome telephoned mobile WTR - Welcome telephoned Residence WTW - Welcome telephoned work SW - Spoke with OC - Our customer PTO - Promised to telephone office PVO - Promised to visit office CTO - Customer telephoned office. Head office will take the fact that your card details are on the notes extremely seriously. Welcome are not allowed to contact you more than two times a day. if they have report this to head office. Hope this helps
