Hello, I recently bought a car from a used car dealership and when I looked at the tax disc I saw that it ran out at the end of May. I then got a letter from the DVLA to say that my disc runs out at the end of November and I needed to renew. When I looked at the disc in my car again I saw that that one ran out in May 06 not 07 (I should have looked more closely I know). Presumably there was another disc somewhere to cover June to November but it had been taken out. I then got a fixed penalty for the police as a result of not displaying a current disc. Does anyone know what my rights are here? Should the car dealership have sold me a car without the current disc in it? Would I have a case if I didn't pay the fine and it went to court?
