  1. I once purchased a special offer item from my local tesco. It didnt register and I only noticed when I got home. Went back to the store who refunded double the difference to me.
  2. Hi there My employer has recently announced that 600 jobs will be cut across the whole business, including HQ. My position is one of them and in all honestly, I'm quite pleased about it as I have wanted to leave for some time and this gives me the push I need. When the announcement was made, the people in my department obviously had a lot of questions and my line manager answered them and advised us that on top of the 90 consultation period being given, we would also have a further 3 months notice after that, effectively giving us a total of 6 months notice. As there are a number of positions available, all of us have to reapply for a position if we so wish or alternatively we can opt for voluntary redundancy. In line with the announcement of the package, I opted to take this based on 2 weeks salary for each year you've worked there and wages INSTEAD of working the notice period of 3 months. It has today come to light that my manager got it wrong and the notice period is NOT 3 months. It is indeed only 1 month and he highlighted that this was what was stated in our contracts. Now, fair enough, I did check a copy of my contract and it does say this and perhaps I should have checked this when he initally told us this but I think its safe to say most people would assume he would have checked the facts before confirming anything to us. Anyway, in light of this, voluntary redundancy doesn't seem worth it now as I might as well let them force me out. My question is though, even though the contract states the notice period is 1 month, does the verbal and email confirmation from my manager stating 3 months overide this in anyway? I'm guessing it doesn't but I thought I would ask for advice regardless. Thank you
  3. I recently bought this package too and again I did not receive the wireless keyboard and mouse. In all honestly though, I wasn't bothered as I already had one so I didn't make a fuss about that. HOWEVER, the descripton also says that the PC comes with a TV Tuner card (allowing you to watch TV on your computer) but it DOES NOT. This is another mistake made by PC World which they admitted to. They refused to send me an internal card as they said it would void the warranty (fair comment) but they did provide me with a USB one. Here's the description which is STILL on the website under the "view full product information", despite them saying they would make sure it was changed (Usual fob off though I guess). The HP Pavilion P6203UK Desktop PC has included 6 USB ports. For entertainment there is an integrated DVD Rewriter and TV tuner, while the wireless keyboard and mouse allows a neat and tidy desktop with no trailing cables http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/store/pcw_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0360004560.1257670125@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdeadeikjhmfhlcflgceggdhhmdgmi.0&page=Product&fm=null&sm=null&tm=null&sku=921749&category_oid=#productInformationSection
  4. As an update to this, Ive actually now just received the money back.
  5. My first post. Hello everyone! I have an issue at the moment with Sixt car rental company who have charged me just over £60 for a "fuel charge" that I was NEVER made aware of at ANY point with the 4 different people I spoke to. It was not until the money was taken without authorisation from my account that I was made aware of this. I have spoken to them via telephone and the person I spoke to said she would investigate and advised she would call me back last Tuesday. I never received a call nor did I expect to as she came across as very ignorant and did not want to assist at all. I have also spoken to the consumers direct helpline regarding this who advised to put the complaint in writing. This I did and posted it on Friday 5th. Copy of letter is as follows, which explains all the details. I would really appreciate your opinions on the matter and how you think this would stand if they do not agree to reimburse the cost. As yet, no response from them. Basically, Ive now paid over £125 to rent a car for 3 days!
