  1. .............looked at my Experian file and it has credit card accounts which were settled over 6 years ago still on file. As well as this there are some instances i missed a monthyl payment (also 6 years past) which are still kept.

Is this right - should these accounts/missed payments not drop off after 6 years?

If so. Has anyone got a link to a letter which i can send (presumably the credit card company) asking for them to remove the information. Or do i ask Experian to remove the note?

    Please please help:(

Before going on holiday I phoned up and changed the name from Mr to Miss. Took what i thought was a £40 hit.

Got to the airport and there were no tickets waiting for me. Went to the check in desk and was told the name was still down as Mr...........!!!!!! The girl at Check in said she would change it for ma and did. Took her a matter of seconds to put it right.

So there you go. Obviously the person I spoke to on the phone was using an invisible keyboard and never did a thing. I checked and no money had been taken from my account (one positive thing)

    Holiday was awesome as well

  3. Easy guys.

Its like having a little devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other.

I dont know whether to risk my holiday seeing that it is only a salutation problem rather than a full name change.

Spoke to the call centre and her words were Its very easy to change i just choose from a drop down and reprint the tickets???? So this costs £40?

    Total disgrace

  4. It doesn't, its a nifty way to cream money from passengers with non flexible tickets.

Pay it, enjoy your holiday, then reclaim it under Schedule 2e of Regulation 5(5) of the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999 because Airtours cannot explain how it costs them precisely £40 to change a passengers title.

    Thanks for the advice

Has anyone else been successful when challenging this fee under Schedule 2e?

  5. Would it matter if it stayed as Mr instead of Miss - after all your passport doesn't have your marital status on it? That way you wouldn't have to pay the charge?

Is the carrier Airtours themselves? If not, you could ring the actual holiday company it is booked with and ask if it matters.

Iam just scared to risk it mate.

It has her name as 'MR'

  6. Just noticed two weeks before travelling that my girlfriends name is down as 'Mr' instead of 'Miss' on our holiday tickets.

Phoned Airtours customer services only to be told it was my mistake as it was booked thi way online and I would have to pay £40 to change the name as it is outwith the 56 days before travelling!!!

Why does it cost so much to make such a small change to a booking?

I find this appauling and just another way for the holiday company to squeeze more money from their customers. As it is so close to the holiday I feel I will have to pay this fee and complain later, asking for a breakdown of this cost. To me it seems more like a penalty charge, should holiday company's not be doing all they can to keep custom and make existing customers happy.

Does anyone have any advice or any similar experiences?

  7. Or is it just going to be put on hold until the hearing is held.

I have incurred £600 worth of charges from halifax in the last year but Iam reluctant to start a claim if it to be put on hold.

I will be well within the 6 years when the court case is concluded so Iam not to worried about missing the boat.

    What does everyone else think?

  8. Barclaycard have today responded to my LBA on my wifes visa, within timescale.

Claim is £880. They have offered goodwill gesture of just over £300, being the difference between a £12 charge and what they charged. They have previouly stated that they have given me all statements but interestingly these only go back 1 month over 6 years, so I don't believe them.

Decided that FOS will get a complaint on this, before court action as that is agreed procedure on CAG. Credit cards not affected by waiver, in theory at least although there are instances arising elsewhere.

Interest amounts to £206 at 8%. However, now that Moneyhelp and me have the CCI spreadsheet, I think I will try that and see what happens. Reason for that is Visas incredibly high interest rate charged on the fees which has been paid by us already.

So shall I accept this "goodwill gesture"........................................

A phrase I've used before- OK, but I quite like it, taken from the last battle scene in Independence Day

"In the words of my generation............... ......................... ..................

    UP YOxRS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are also charges for both payment protection plan and accidental death cover. These are a large amount. Anyone any success with these??:)

    Hi Kenny,

Exactly the same as you. Had a offer arrived today for £347 whereas my total claim looked for £1,100. They say this is their final offer. Is this true that people are finding problems going through the Ombusman?

I know it may be a pain but I would appreciate it if you could send me a copy of the interest calc sheet as well mate.

    Thanks in advance

......just a little anxious to get up there and whoop BC(E.T.)'s ass, that's all!

  9. I contacted the FOS and they told me that any offers that have been accepted and returned by the 27th July should be fully honoured.

I had my acceptance sent back on the 20th so they say I should be perfectly fine. They have put notes on my account for the person dealing with my claim (at the FOS) to contact the bank again and ask what is going on.

Not looking good for others though who may have been given acceptance letter but not signed ad returned yet.

  10. Just phoned the Halifax there and they said that because of all the issues that have arisen lately that all claims that have went to acceptance letter (and signed by customers) will still be held until next year !!!!!!!

Is this right???? Surely if they have made an offer and I have accepted (through the Financial Ombusman I may add) they should honor these!

I feel another call to the Ombusman coming on if it is.

  11. .......Iam going to ask for Money back.

After being told on numerous occassions from Barclaycard that I didnt have an account with them I managed to get my statements from an old account. It took getting the ICO involved but Ive got there eventually.

I have a question though. Before receiving my statements I was offered £100 to go away.....do I return with my 'actual' list of charges and demand them back. Or do I now go to the Financial Ombusman instead?

Also, how does the recent test case effect me? Iam not understanding if i will be put on hold.

  12. So how can they offer you £100 if they have no record of who you are?

Does that mean anyone can write to them and be offered money!?

Give them a call - bug them with calls and letters until you get them.

They are fobbing you off me thinks!

I will reject this and demand statements again, thanks guys.

  13. yep - start telling them you are going to get a court order to MAKE them hand over the information - they tried it with me - they sent 2-3 years worth of statements after 50 days then kept fobbing off with we are very busy and need more time when I asked for the rest - inthe end I told them they had 7 days to comply otherwise Id get a court order to make them comply - got statements withing 7 days:)I think its important not to give them too much time - if you specify 14 days then after 14 days chase it up otherwise they think youre just gonna forget it - keep on at them - stick to your dates you give them! - it shouyld never have taken from February for you to just be at this stage now - go after them!

They previously said they had no record of my account with them??? Megan do you have a template letter i could - em - borrow?

  14. Hi folks,

Ive been chasing Barclays since February to try and get my statements from an old account I used to have with them. The card was closed during 2004 and so I knew I would have a claim for some charges in those final years.

Basically Barclays wrote to me saying I didnt have an account with them and told me to go away. I was then lucky enough to find an old card cut up in a wardrobe, with which i duly photcopied and sent back to Barclays.

They fobbed me off with standard letters for 3 months until today I received a letter offering me £100 by way of good will and recognising my account was now closed.

What do you reckon I should do next? I still havent got any statements from them. Should I take the money and run or wait it out and reject this offer?
