  1. Well done!!! It's all abit like deal or no deal only alot more serious
  2. Hi just to let you all know of my progess so far with my claim against HSBC Bank. My claim is relatively small compaired with some, but so far I'm doing ok. I closed my account with HSBC back in 2003, due to their unhelpful attitude with my situation regarding charges so I am delighted that there are steps that I can take to reclaim some of my dignity!!!! I am also pursuing Abbey for a smaller amount but every penny counts!!! I am very interested in finding a 'buddy' to share experiences with as this is quite a daunting process and I found that going through the last 6 years of your financial life can be quite emotional!. Good luck everyone!! 11.11.06 Sent Data Protection Act letter to Canada House registered delivery with £10 cheque. 11.11.06 Went through Abbey statements and phoned them to ask for some duplicate statements told that I would be charged £10 for this service. 20.11.06 Recieved letter back with the cheque saying ' We are happy to cover any fees for the production of this information and we return your payment.' 23.11.03 recieved 3 years!!!! worth of statements have gone through and they have charged me £396. 24.11.06 Will be sending prelimary letter with spread sheet of charges to HSBC. Am just going for charge amounts as the interest seems complicated.

  5. Hi I thought I was in the same situation having closed my HCBS account nearly three years ago. Might be a silly suggestion as I am quite sad and keep these kind of things but I looked on an old pay slip I had and it was on there
  6. A big THANK YOU! for your quick responses I am endeavoured to fight the banks however I am a little technophobic so navigating my way round the forum is a slow process in it's self!!! If anyone could help with my questions then I would be extremely grateful!! 1. How do I set up a thread on the HSBC and Abbey sites? 2. Have been reading the FAQ's and steps with fascination but am still a bit confused with the prelim letter and the N1/MCOL. Do I just send the prelim letter with a basic spread sheet of charges claiming or do I have to include the MCOL part with it at this stage?????????? '1. The Claimant has an account 1234567 with the Defendant, opened May 2000 2. Since 01/02/03 the Defendant debited charges and interest in respect of purported breaches of contract. 3. Defendant is aware of all details as a list of charges has already been supplied. Another copy will be sent. 4. Claimant contends: (a) The charges exceed the Defendant's losses caused by the breaches; (b) The Term permitting the Defendant to levy such charges is unenforceable under the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999, Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 and at Common Law. 5. Claimant claims: (a) return of the amounts debited of £XXXX; (b) Interest per S.69 County Courts Act 1984 of 8% - £xxx [enter interest total at date of claim] continuing at 8% until judgment or settlement at a daily rate of £0.xx; 6. Alternatively, if the charges are a fee for a service, then they must be reasonable under S.15 of the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982. 7. Costs allowed by the Court.' Will be purchasing the small claims book today will this answer most of my questions? THANKS Again Tabby x

  11. Hi, thanks for replying! unfortunately I am a little vague with all my dates I joined but will give it a go. The bank charges spiralled and crippled me at the time so I changed banks. I am determined to give it 100% effort.
  12. Hi, this is my first time on the forum, am slightly technophobic so this is all abit scary even without taking the bank to court! I want to claim back from HSBC. The situation I found myself in made my life a misery a few years back, so I closed the account. I have read that I can claim but how do I get details of how much they charged me as I was so upset with it all I destroyed my bank statements. Am looking forward to fighting!
