  1. What a nightmare this is. I have just had a txt message asking to call 0845 604 602 8834 which obviously is not a valid number so I called the above which is Albion Collections Ltd acting on behalf of Halifax and then transferred me to a Halifax adviser who was bloody useless, he just said to ignore the txt message as my account was up to date - Typical Halifax behaviour. I am actually in the process of writing a formal letter of complain to them regarding my overdraft so I think I will include this inconvenience now too.
  2. Hi, I wonder if somebody could help us. In June 2007 we, my partner and I received a final invoice from British Gas for our electric as we changed supplier. Unfortunately we owed money for the Gas supply so had to keep this one going. We received a final bill of around £35 from British Gas for the electric which covered June 07 - Sep 07. We continued paying the excess for Gas until June 2008 and immediately switched suppliers to a fixed rate till 2009 jobby. A few days after cancelling with British Gas for gas we received ANOTHER final invoice for electric (not gas as we were now in credit with gas payments) for the months up to June (it was made out exactly as the original final invoice for electric) but this one was for £210 ! £175, taking into account the payment of £35 we had already made. Are British Gas allowed to do this, invoice you for a service one year later? We have already paid them off a year ago as per the received final invoice for the months stated, so surely all dealings with them are done. Secondly £175+£35 is ludicrously high for such a small period of service as quarterly payments with our current supplied had never been more than £70. We only use gas for cooking and very partial heating and only two of us live in the house . The bill says this is an estimated reading so we can get this reduced, but should we have to pay this bill at all, and how can we let them know what our reading was in June 2007! I call and spoke to some who asked us to provide him with a reading and to call back in one weeks time with another reading and that they will re-issue a final invoice based on our average usage, however regardless of me doing this, I continue to receive phone call, tx messages and letters telling me to pay the full amount of £175. Any help would be MUCH appreciated, I'm sick to the back teeth of being let down by companies, it just isn't on and trying to speak to someone is a nightmare especially with British Gas. Thank you in advance!!!
  3. Hi, We have purchased and have been living in a terrised house for 18 months and our next door neighbours have recently put their house up for sale. They have received an offer from a company who wish to convert the house to offices. No real structual differences will occur, only walls on the top floor maybe knocked through. We already have one major company on our street and are worried that another business may decrease the value of our property or may prevent a future sale (althought we have no plans tp move within the next 5 years.) Does anyone have any advise on how to deal with this issue and also if this will infact reflect negatively on the value of our house. Thanks
  4. Hi, Can I please ask where I would start a new thread on the discussion of how a home is affected if the house next door is converted into an office. Kind regards, Steve
  5. Hi and thanks for the advise once again, HSBC have offered me £26 which is all I am entitled to as all other charges date back over 6 years. Should I accept this or ask for the amount shown on the statement £159. Thanks in advance, Stephen
  6. Good morning everyone My 2nd claim has been declined. This was for 3 bank charges of £30 an additional £28 for going over my overdraft. Now last week I had a payment come out of my account which I thought was already account for in my available balance. Turns out it wasn't and I then went £3.36 over my limit, resluting in yes, another bank charge which they are collecting today and as I don't get paid until friday (monthly wage) I am going to get yet another bloody charge. Where do I go from here, I have other account I can use should mine be closed and my girlfriend and I have recently opened a joint account whcih both of our wages will be paid into therefore I now have no use for the Halifax if they fo decide to close my account. Is there a standard letter I can send regarding a reply to a declined letter. Could someone kindly copy and paste me the link to the correct webpage. kind regards Stephen
  7. Thanks again, Do I need to edit the letter at all, advising this is the 2nd time I have complained about the charges or do I just send the standard letter which I sent previously. Steve
  8. Good morning, please help. I have only found the receipt, it dates back to the 24/12/2006. Will PC now have to issue me with a store credit by law or is it down to the decision of the person who serves me. Thank you again everyone, this site and the people who use it are so helpful. Steve
  9. Hi everyone Is this everything covered, please advise if this is ok to send now, thank you. Kind regards, Stephen Dear Sir/Madam, ACCOUNT NUMBER: **** **** **** **** My request I am writing to ask you to refund to me the charges which you have levied from my account over the last 3 years. I now understand that the regime of fees which you have been applying to my account in relation to direct debit refusals, exceeding overdraft limits and so forth are unlawful at Common Law, Statute and recent consumer regulations. If you say that they are not, then will you please demonstrate this by letting me have a full breakdown of the costs to which you have been put by as a result of my breaches, in order to reassure me that your penalties really do reflect your costs. Additionally, it has now been confirmed that your particularly high level of penalties are considered to be unfair per se by the OFT who reported on the 5th April 2006 and are therefore presumed to be unlawful in the absence of specific proof to the contrary. Your responsibilities I would draw your attention to the terms of the contract which you agreed to at the time that I opened my account. It is an implied term of that contract that you would conduct yourselves lawfully and in a manner which complies with UK law. I am frankly shocked that you have operated my account in this way as I had always reposed confidence in your integrity and expertise as my fiduciary. I consider that your repeated representations that your charges are fair and reasonable are deceptive and that they have deceived me into agreeing to pay them. Your concealment of the true nature of your charges has prevented me from asserting my right until now. What I require I calculate that you have taken a total of £184 I enclose a schedule of the charges which I am claiming with this letter My targets to resolve this matter I hope that you will enter into a sincere dialogue with me about this matter and I am writing this letter to you on the assumption that you will prefer to do this than merely respond with standard letters and leaflets. I will give you 14 days to reply to me accepting, unconditionally, my request in principle and letting me know a date by which I will receive payment. If you do not respond, or you do not respond positively, within this time period, I shall send you a letter before action giving you a further 14 days in which to reflect. I believe that these targets are more than sufficient for a large company such as yours with dedicated staff and departments. After that, there will be no further communication from me and I shall issue a claim at the expiry of the second deadline.
  10. Thanks for the advise, i'll email them and see how I go on... Fingers crossed.
