  1. OK so it could be £15 well spent then??
  2. When I last had problems with NatWest which was June 2004 - December 2004, the reason they gave for my overdraft facility constantly being removed and charges being applied to my account was because they had changed over to the Royal Bank of Scotland computer system and there was a glitch on the system. Anyone going back some years on their account for charges may find NatWest use this as a bit of a twist in preceedings - possibly claiming it was a system error and not a banking one? To be fore warned, etc.
  3. Hold on a chuffing moment - £10 is all they can charge for DPA isn't it? Hmmm....£10 with form and covering letter to all three places I think. Can't hurt can it?
  4. I'm going to say you should write this as a letter not as an electronic communication. When it goes to court you need written proof - they can ALWAYS try to deny computer generated electronic communication if they wish to - hard copy letters signed and dated are not so easy to dispute.
  5. OK well I didn't send off £10 - don't shout - but would it be more effective if I took this form with a covering letter explaining exactly what I want to the branch so I can pay my £10 and be identified immediately? And if so should I also send a copy of the letter to Stuart Higley and to Mr Alex Lyons Data Protection Manager Retail Regulatory Risk 2nd Floor Business House B GOGARBUREN P.O.Box 1000 EDINBURGH EH12 1HQ ???? I dont want to give them any room for more stalling so your thoughts are greatfully recieved.
  6. Got a stock standard letter today http://www.bankactiongroup.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=971 my posting shows a slight difference in the letter I got to the other persons one. Apparently my Data Protection request has to be filled in on a form and the 40 days do no start til I have paid the £10 and been identified as being me. This is what their form says. They appear to be trying to play the delaying game somewhat.
  7. I have had no news at all. I feel they are not taking me seriously. And in fact, I had a basic account with them and before I got a new current account I was going to get my BT bill paid out of there. However, I forgot and BT tried pulling the bill twice and now NatWest have put £76 worth of charges on an account which has never been used and never had any money go out of it. I know I should have remembered but £76???? Not a stitch of paperwork from NatWest though - it's nearly 2 months since I asked for the investigation to be started and I have now also asked for all my statements - before the letter was changed on here to list of charges, so will no doubt incur a £10 charge there and another 30 odd days of waiting. I think it's appaulling that I am actually showing I'm deadly serious this time and nothing, nada, zilch! Wonder if they'll be so slow when I open the court case? I'd wager £76 they wont be!
  8. Sorry to sound dumb but as you know I'm going to see this out with NatWest. If I do open a case/claim - how much does it cost please?
  9. Gosh that does sound interesting! I have heard nothing about my account - I sent my letters to Head Office.
  10. I know Bankfodder's way is the right one - but I'd love to follow in Deanos footsteps!!!
  11. I'm hoping to do so with my ex-bank! Just waiting for my 40 days to come up before I can move now really!
  12. Ah a holiday man! Please...would you tell me what one of those is like?
  13. Well done Jo! All victories, small, moral or otherwise are as you say, ammo against these institutions!
  14. My mother still gets info about her old account with Barclays even though the account is being paid off at £1 per month due to her ill health. Apparently from 31st March 2006 they are increasing their Unpaid Fees charge to £35 but will not charge more than one Fee per day. You are warned, allegedly!
  15. At the end of the day the thing that stings the most is when you try very hard on a low income to keep in the limit and do so - then you have a flu bug, unexpected emergency etc, - which with a disabled mother I get quite often, and getting to the bank to pay money in gets put to the bottom of the list - not intentionally. Then you find if you had of got to the bank the day before, the charges would not have occured. And no one at the bank tries to look at your "case of hardship with sympathy". A banking ombudsman once told me every bank has an obligation to look at every case with compassion - especially if not trying to reduce the charges causes further financial hardship and stress. When I worked I never went overdrawn - EVER! I'm a responsible person but are the lenders at the banks?
  16. Don't give them any slack! Especially NatWest!
  17. Just to put you in the picture about NatWest - yes they do charge you the £28 a month later for being overdrawn but if it is them that have caused you to be overdrawn in the first place then they should refund the charges. It may be worth getting the list of charges back via the Data Protection Act disclosure letter and see how many charges like this you have had in the last 4 years.
  18. Just an update - there is no more news since the last letter. Sent off my DPA request and awainting the preverbial to hit the fan! :?
  19. After asking for an investigation of my account, (please see earlier posts by me), I had no feedback from NatWest. I telephoned them a week ago to ask why not. I got told that an investigation from Head Office had been started but the Wimbledon Lending Centre had not bothered to reply regarding the charges. I ask for this in writing and get a stupid letter informing me that an investigation had been started but the Lending Centre refused to refund the said £250 I claimed in charges but Head Office would still continue to investigate it for me. In other words they have done nothing, but at least now I have a letter with a name and address to send the pro forma to. And as for £250?!?!?!? I never stated a figure to them - I'm not that stoopid!

  21. Sorry Dave - yes I had asked for the payments to be stopped. Only the Carers Allowence ppl could recall their payment in time.

    Cheque charges

Just a small question. On reading my new banks info on cheque guarentee cards, it says when a cheque is guarenteed with a card, the bank has to honour it but fees may be incurred if insufficient funds, blah, blah, blah! How come then they can bounce cheques and charge you more than once???
  23. I found out yesterday that mine and my mothers benefits were paid into NatWest this week - the DWP couldn't stop them soon enough. I was livid. I decided to get onto NatWest with a non victim attitude and demand this money back. I explained my mother was a "vunerable adult" and the monies paid in by the government were for her care and well being and as the bank had taken 2 weeks of this and left us with nothing, I felt there must be grounds to consider this abuse to a "vunerable adult" and her carer. I also stated it was easy to see these were BACS benefit payments as the NI and benefit code were attached to each payment in. The guy I spoke to, Oliver Lowery @ Wimbledon Lending centre, then told me that "your carers allowence has been recalled by the DWP", (please note: I hadn't yet told him which payment was carers allowence - they had a note of it - thus proving they know benefit payments). To be fair to Oliver Lowery, he went off and got a special encashment arranged for the other two benefits totalling £107.25 which was returned as soon as I got to my bank. It's a minor victory, but I get the feeling they have shot themselves in the foot as, and I may be wrong, by returning that money they are admitting the charges are wrong??? Without that £107.25 returned, I would be £1052.16 overdrawn against an overdraft of £700. They have removed in just under 2 weeks £550 in charges which would actually make me only £500 OD - £200 within my limit and available to spend! Still no word from Head Office though!
