  1. Hi Goldlady. Thanks for your really prompt reply. I have had a few extra charges so I will add those in. I will post some more when I know some more. Thanks again.
  2. Hello saintly. I have been reading your corispondence with Shedbuilder with interest. Firstly thankyou for your reply. My ignorance knows no bounds on this matter so what is an LBA?
  3. Hello to one and all. Its been some time since I posted on here and I'm almost embarressed to be asking the following question. I initiated a claim back in 2006 with Barclays Bank. The total claim was for £2405 over the applicable 6 year period. With the calculated interest if this claim had gone to court, it totalled £3084.32. Initially I received the general fob off letters which are the standard practice it seems until 8th of November 2006 when I was made an offer, 'without admission of liability', for the sum of £1000. It was tempting at the time however I sent a reply of 'no thankyou' by return of post. On 6th December 2006, just ready for Chritmas, I received a reviewed offer of £1750. Again I turned this down. My return letter however stated that if Barclays would return all of the monies they had levied from my account, ie. £2405, I would take no further proceedings against them. I would not therefore push for the interest, court fees, loss of earnings etc. 13th December 2006 I am sorry you are unhappy with our offer of £1750 and have requested that we refund all of the charges you have incurred over the last six years. After careful consideration, I regret that I am unable to agree to your request. Should you now wish to accept our offer, please sign and return the acceptance form enclosed with our letter of 6th December. However, if you do not wish to accept this offer and you now intend to start legal proceedings it would appear we are unable to reach an amicable resolution. Kiran Rauli Customer Relations Manager. I did not intend to accept their offer and now intended to go to court. For reasons that are not important at this time my life took a wrong turn and I did not make any form of reply, either through the court or to the Bank. I am sure many people get bored or out of their depth with this and due to which the banks get away with what I see, to all intents and purposes, as theft. I wish to continue my claim and my very long winded question is this. As it has been a year since this process was started do I need to start all over again or can I continue where I left off? If i do need to go back, do I need to start the 6 years from the day I send my letter or can I re-issue the previous under the same time span? A large chunk of the original charges would now be outside of the 6 year term if I had to go back from now. Although saying that Barclays are still charging £30 and £35 charges to date. I would be very grateful if anyone can help. Thanks.
  4. Thanks for your help all. I have ordered the Small Claims Pack and will crack on as soon as it turns up. I also found the Default notice removal. That was very interesting. However that was Barclaycard and they will be my next port of call. Thanks again and I'll keep up the posts.
  5. It has been some time since I last posted on here due to moving house and Christmas etc. It is now most definately time to push on woth this claim and I would really like some help. To date I have received two offers from Barclays Bank. The Total claim is for £2405 plus the 8% interest. The first offer I received was for £1000 which I obviously turned down. On 6th December I received a revised offer of £1750 with an attached claim form. This was also turned down, However I did suggest that if Barclays paid the full amount of £2405 I would not pursue any interest over this amount via court proceedings. On 14 December Barclays sent me a letter saying that the £1750 was their final offer and I should take them to court. I am writing this now as this ia exactly what I wish to do. I would be grateful if someone could give me some idea as to the best way to forward my claim? Is it buying the Lawpack and follow that or is there some information elsewhere. I really want to get on with this now as since Barclays have received my first letter they have stuck another three £30 charges on to my account and look as if the have no intention of resetting any charges to any accounts. Any further help regarding going to court would be gratefully accepted. Thanks.
  6. After my first letter dated 3-11-2006 I received a fairly rapid response telling me they would reply to me within 30 days, being the 1st December 2006. I went ahead and sent the 2nd letter after 14 days and have just received a reply to that. The total amount I am claiming is some £2500 without interest. Barclays have made me an offer of £1000 to settle now. Not sure what I am going to do but I'll keep the updates coming.
  7. Thanks very much to both of you for the reply. To be honest I had no idea the amount of people that were using this site due to which I appreciate any reply. Its 2 days until I send the next letter. Regarding opening an account for a safety net I can't for some reason. So I shall contiue as I am and deal with it as it happens. Ever account I have is in credit now so if they do wish to shut up shop on me I think I'll see if the press is interested? Thanks again and I'll be in touch.
  8. Is there a reason I have not received a single reply? Am I doing something wrong here?
  9. I was informed by a friend that there may be an opportunity to reclaim the massive amount of bank charges I have been charged. I had a scan via the internet and found your site. On the 3-11-2006 I sent my first letter to Barclays bank cut and pasted from this site with schedule of charges for the last six years that totalled well over £2000 with no interest added. I didn't add the interest on in the first letter as I did'nt and still don't know how to calculate it. I did inform them that I will be claiming for it. I'll do that when I find out how to calculate it? On 8-11-2006 I received what seems to be a standard reply letter from a Barclays Customer Relations Advisor. This states I will have an answer or update no later than 1-12-2006. Oh, and I can call for a chat about it if I wish. Very good of them. I have questions if anyone can help me? Firstly, how do I work out the interest to apply and can I still do this although it was not in the initial point of contact? Also, I have an article taken from the Daily Mail writen by J. Coney, published 8-11-2006. It states that some banks and financial institutions are paying up but in turn closing the claimants accounts. I have just been granted a mortgage for our first family home. The payment for which will be taken via a Direct Debit mandate from one of my Barclays accounts. I also have a savings account and business accounts. The reason for this is that I cannot open another account elsewhere. I have tried various high street banks under the advice of this site to no avail. All of my credit is either up to date or paid off in full and no longer allow my bank account to fall into its overdraft. This has been the case for at least 18months / 2 years yet I still do not have a credit rating high enough to open an account. It seems a huge risk to my mortgage and business if Barclays shut up shop on me and close the lot. Don't get me wrong I shall see this to the end no matter what but would like to be informed and ready for the worst. I would be grateful for any help that can be given either with the interst calculations or any experiences with closed accounts?
  10. Congratulations on your result. Leaves hope for us all. I have just sumitted a letter to the wonderful Barclays for Some £2405 without interest applied. I'm sure due to your success you are being bombarded with questions but I wondered if I could pose another? Did Barclays leave your Bank account open as I understand some banks are closing customers accounts after paying up?
