  1. Found a great use for this - I generally download manuals for household electrical items. I am now gradually putting these over to our new kindle so they are all in one place, and easily accessible.
  2. Just wondered how many things can go wrong on one service. I had cause to travel on the 20.15 from St Pancras to Nottingham service on Wednesday, and they had to apologise for the following: 1) No hot drinks available for 1st Class passengers due to the water system failing at the depot due to it being frozen up. 2) Only two toilets working in the whole train - both at the same end, meaning some passengers having to walk almost the full length of the train. 3) EMT have apparently sold the catering rights on that service to an outside company which had failed to turn up for work
  3. For those who are in need of urgent debt advice, and can get into Derby on a Monday afternoon, there is now a free drop-in service. It is a Christian based service, but is open to anyone regardless of faith, background, etc. The service is run be fully trained and authorised debt counselors. The sessions are held on a Monday afternoon between 1pm and 3pm, at New Life Christian Centre, Normanton Road, Derby, DE23 6UU. Please note however, that they cannot help those already on debt plans, or who are already working with other organisations such as the CAB, etc. As this service is open

  5. This thread seems to be going round in circles, and at 272 pages does not really help anyone to understand the issues. This thread is now closed to new posts.
  6. Worth a go - although I already have a chat log where I specifically asked them to confirm that there was nobody at BT that could resolve my issue, and the chap said there was not.
  7. I have been happily going on paying my BT bill by quarterly "full bill" direct debit. Then this morning I see that they have taken £15.83 out of my account without any warning whatsoever. It seems that they have changed their billing system, and have had to migrate accounts over to the new system. However, in doing so they have switched my account to "monthly" direct debit in error - which appears to be why this payment request was activated as an adjustment. Apparently, I should have had an email to tell me that this payment would be taken - but on checking my email it has not been recei
  8. In order to maintain balance, I feel that I should post the response that we have received from toprobroy to his moderation: Clearly this "consumer champion" is not happy that we have stopped him from posting about how good Club La Costa really is to half of its customers!
  9. Good Question. To date, I don't know. I live in the hope that I find out....but as yet...NADA! I'm a little disappointed really, as it wouldn't have taken a few seconds to type a few words to tell me. I don't think they've done their own reputation any favours, but we'll have to see. As we would hate our reputation to be damaged by your departure too, I am happy to confirm for clarity that your posting privileges have been removed as a result of you making veiled threats of legal action against this website, undermining a member of the site admin team in an email that you inadvertently c

  11. We have now got a new stock of these books, and the advert will be back on the site in the next couple of days. If anyone wants a copy in the meantime please send an email to admin@consumeractiongroup.co.uk and I will send a payment link. The books are still priced at: £28.50 (including p&p)
  12. Sorry, but we have sold out. We were promised further batches of the book from the publishers (XPL Publishing Ltd of St Albans), but after many broken promises they have never appeared. We even spoke directly to John Kruse, the author, but he also seems to be in the dark about what is happening with the publisher too.
  13. Another thing to remember in France is that the speed limit on motorways varies depending on whether it's raining - 130kph normally/110kph when raining. If you have a good satnav it is worth changing to kilometres as you can use that to give a check on your speed if your car speedo is not that clear - as some are not.
  14. Please do not make further allegations such as have been made (and removed) without proof that it is the person concerned.
  15. That is one scenario, but they also offer generous discounts as a way of getting paid earlier - 50-75% being deemed more favourable than £1 per month for 300 years! I am guessing that the vast majority of offer letters are automated, and do not take into account whether a CCA request has been sent.
  16. The site administration has been contacted by the poster concerned, and I can confirm that the post by Lowell CRT is generated by Lowell's Claims Resolution department. Whilst I can understand the attacks against this poster, I would ask that people do try and look at the positives. Yes, there is a great deal of bad feeling that has built up against these companies, but it must be a good step that they are prepared to offer to look at the complaints being made. I have no doubt that if the offer proves to be less than genuine, then we will see the result posted here. At the same time,
  17. I have had to unapprove three posts on this thread which contained pure speculation and/or baseless opinion. Please ensure that further posts are factual, and will help the opening poster to reach a resolution of this matter.
  18. Please ensure that posts are addressing the issue raised on the thread. Several posts have been removed that are off-topic and merely repeating discussions elsewhere on the site.
  19. Thread closed as it is no longer serving the purpose for which it was opened.
  20. Well 12 months have passed by, and FFCT clearly intend to hang on to keep hold of these deposits for as long as they can. I am also suprised to see that there have been no further reports from the liquidator (Craig Gomez) of Leadenhall Bank since 10th December 2008. With nobody at the Central Bank willing to discuss the situation, one has to wonder why people trust the Bahama's with their money. No longer are these places safe from a disclosure point of view - and with this case we see that the regulator is not interested in dealing with a mess that they allowed to happen. Even the B
  21. This is standard immediately after filing - it takes CH a few days to upload paper documents, or move over documents that are filed electronically. They will probably be available sometime next week - if there is not too much of a backlog.
  22. The issue is nothing to do with any of the above, and the users concerned have been made aware of the nature of the complaint. The thread is remaining open as the vast majority of the posts are helpful to others, and good work is being done. HOWEVER, please ensure that all future posts are moving forward the work that is being done, and are on-topic. Do not engage in personal attacks on anyone - or make posts that could be perceived as such. If that simple rule is followed then this thread can move on - if not we will have to close it, and consider further moderator action. Simple as
  23. Had a card through on 10th to say that two packages could not be delivered. Arranged for redelivery on Saturday - nothing came. I decided to leave it for a couple of days to allow for any delay, and then rang to ask what was happening today. The lady at the call centre looked on the system, and it says that both items were "successfully delivered" on Saturday! When I said that they clearly had not been delivered on Saturday she just agreed, and said that they were getting thoroughly fed up with it, and that they were getting hundreds of similar complaints. She openly admitted that th
