  1. Hi, After being treated like a criminal by the Halifax when my debit card was pickpocketed and my bank account emptied, I decided to change bank accounts. I have a £100 overdraft on the Halifax account, so In my July pay, I was going to transfer the £100 and then close the account. I logged in to my Halifax account to see that they had added charges, so I then thought it would be pointless to transfer £100 so that it could be swallowed up by charges. The account now stands at nearly £500 overdrawn as they continue to add charges every month. I have written to them and explained that I would pay the £100 if they would refund the charges and then stop any further charges being added, but they have just ignored my letters. I imagine now with the recent hearing on charges that they will continue to add charges indefinitely. Is there anything else I can do to get this sorted out, as I have a lot of debts and this is just another 500 plus to find. Thanks in advance
  2. Hi, I had my debit card stolen a couple of weeks ago, in a London club. When I realised the next morning that the card was missing, I rang the Halifax immediately, which is when I found out that someone had withdrawn £300 from an ATM and then spent £630 in a clothes shop in Essex. After speaking to the police about it, I found that this had also happened to someone else in the same club on the same night, and that there is a crime called "shoulder surfing" where part of a gang watch you at the bar to get your pin number and then another one follows you around until the opportunity to pickpocket (or in my case take the card from my bag). The Halifax have said that as I didn't take due care with my pin number, that they will not reimburse me. I am literally at my wits end, £930 is a hell of a lot of money and I haven't been able to meet this months mortgage payment because of this. I have appealed and got the same response, so now have to go to the FOS to take it further. Has anyone else suffered this kind of crime and did you eventually get your money back? It is so unfair that I have done nothing and yet I am now suffering because of this. Thanks in advance
  3. Hi Nas, I was just wondering if you have heard any more from Next? I am in the same boat, but quite a way behind you!! Yvonne
  4. Thanks, that's what i thought, but i just want to make sure he can demand payment by cheque, instead of them knocking it off the loan. Yvonne
  5. Hi, My husband was missold ppi on his loan and Natwest have offered a refund, but only if he pays it off the loan. Can he demand to receive the refund by personal cheque, as he has obviously been paying too much each month out of his own pocket? If he can, then does anyone have any guidelines as to how he can demand a cheque? Thanks in advance Yvonne
  6. Thank you HHNF, I will send them a letter today and let you know how i get on. Cheers yvonne
  7. Hi, Thanks for all your replies. I have already CCA'd them and received my agreement, but there is absolutely nothing relating to this on there. I did mention this in my letter to them requesting re-imbursement and was told then it would have been mentioned to me when i rang to activate my card. I definitely would not have agreed to it, as stated before, I would not need to use it. The letter they have sent me is basically a bog off letter, but i don't intend to leave it at that. Any ideas of what i can respond to them? Thanks Yvonne
  8. Hi, After recently hearing about mis sold PPI's, I thought that i would check my credit cards. On my skycard there was a "payment break plan" which I had never noticed before. I immediately rang Skycard to ask what it was and also to cancel it. It seems it is not a PPI, but where you can take a break from payments for a period of time, if in difficulties. Seems to me that this is the same as a PPI. I have since wrote to skycard to request a full refund, as it has never been explained to me and i would never use it anyway, as my employer pays full pay when off sick and I have long term illness covered in my life insurance policy. Anyway, they have replied to me today, stating that firstly, it is not a PPI and secondly, it has been on the account since day one and i would have "obviously" been told what it was when i activated my card. My other point with them is that a few months ago, I wrote to them to see if they would freeze interest and lower my payments for 6 months, whilst I got my finances back on track, this they did. Now had i known that this plan was on my account, surely I would have requested to claim on this, and also, why did no one at Skycard then advise me that this "payment break plan" was an option. Could someone with more knowledge please let me know if I have a case here for claiming back the already paid amounts? Thanks in advance Yvonne
  9. Good Luck Paul, Been watching your thread with great interest, as in same position but a few months behind. Yvonne
  10. Excellent!! When he actually went in to sign for his last loan of £15000, he had moved to birmingham so had to go into a different branch, and the advisor he spoke to there, couldn't believe he had been given such a large amount, based on his salary.!! I'll let you know how he gets on. Thanks again Yvonne
  11. Thanks for that Sammy, I will get him to talk directly to them. Have you dealt with them yourself? And are they understanding? Thanks Yvonne
  12. Thanks Steven!! That was my next step anyway, just thought i would check on this brilliant site!! Yvonne
  13. Hi, My son who is 19, was working abroad as a holiday rep from the age of 17, on a basic salary of less than £250 a month. Once he turned 18, whilst out there, he applied online for an overdraft facility with Natwest, who he has been banking with since a child. They gave him a whopping £1000 overdraft limit. Which he obviously ate into as he was living on such a low salary. Once back in the UK, and earning a salary of about £650 a month, he stupidly applied online for a loan of £8000, which they actually gave to him, as well as upping his overdraft limit to £2500. As well as giving him another overdraft on another account. After realising that he was going to really struggle with his debts, he went into his local branch to discuss this with an "advisor" and came out with a consolidation loan of £15000. He is not 20 for another 4 months, and yet finds himself in serious debt and not being able to afford the repayments. Is there anything that can be done to actually challenge Natwest giving him these funds in the first place? Other than that, i think he is going to have to go down the IVA route, as there is no way he can afford it, and i am not in a position to help him myself. Responses really appreciated!! Thanks in advance. Yvonnne
