  1. I have had just had a conversation with my brother who has a been told by Natwest that they are closing his bank account with consulting him about the closure. He was told that they were closing the account and that they wouldn't tell him why only that they said there was fraud. They said that thet were not legally obiliged to tell him why they were closing it. According to my brother there has been no fraud on the account and there is money there on the account for him to use. There is He has only been given a few days to find a new account bearing in mind in can take a lot longer with other banks to open an account. I believe that this does not give much time for my brother to open an account eleswhere. I know he is not very credit worthy (ie can be a bit free with is money but does make sure that all bills are paid for on time) Are Natwest entitled to do what they did and does my brother have a leg to stand on? Can he complain to the FSA about this also? Many thanks Colin
  2. I while ago I got a letter and cheque from the Nationwdie saying that where paying up. Thye did the matter of paying the charges back plus some interest which dated from the claim to when they paid out. I asked the local county court that they never paid the 8% interest that was chargable on each fee that was applied by Nationwide. The amount they ocurred was £640.15. The local county court said that I could still claim that back. I then get a letter from the local county court saying that Nationwide were inteding to defend themselves over this citing the judgement be made set aise. Is there anywhere were I can gather evidence indicating that I am still owed the matter of the £640.15. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Colin

  4. Got some news today in respect to the charges on the account. Got a letter from Nationwide BS. They have given me a chq for the total charges plus some interest and the court costs back. £924.04. Fantastic news. Well the forst thing done this morning was (yes you guessed it, banked it). Settled now so will let the County Court know about it on Monday.
  5. With my claim, they until Monday 16th April 2007 to respond back via the courts. If they don't respond then I will be putting a judgement into the County Court on the same day. I am getting a bit fed up witht eh Nationwide delaying things. The straw has now broken the camel's back. Enough is enough
  6. A friend of mine at work has put in a request to get her statements from the Abbey. She duly paid her fee of £10.00 to get these but she has told me that she has only got a years worth of statements. She has banked with for over 10 years. What does she need to do get get the statements dating back a further 5 years on top of what she got? Does she write to the Abbey or does she go to the Information Commissioner? Cheers Colin
  7. I have had a letter from the County Court in respect to Nationwide. They have decided to defend themselves over the matter of the charges. So we will wait and see what they are likely to do about the claim. The court says that they have 28 days to respond back. Awaiting to see what now happens with Nationwide. Does anyone have any ideas what they may do?
  8. I have had a letter from Buchanan Clark and Wells in regards to a debt that they say is mine from a previous address I used to live at. The thing is that I do not know anything about this debt (which is £99.83) from Vodafone. I have asked them to provide me details of the debt. Vodafone have not written to me about this and they have added a default to my credit record. Are they entitled to keep the default on while it is in question? I cannot recollect having anyhting with Vodafone and I feel that the default should be removed while in question. If it is proved that I did then I would be happy for them to add the default back on. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Colin
  9. I have just spoken to Barclaycard in regards to a card I had with them a few years ago. They say its in the recovery department, though they have never chased me for the debt (ranging possibly around £1500.00) with which most in charges. It made me think I have an Associates Card a few years ago also (they are chasing through debt collection agency). This too will charges on. I also had a loan with the Associates (now Citi-financial debt collection too) What happens if I was to ask for my charges back? Would they credit the account with the refund or send me the refund if they decide to pay up? Cheers, Colin

  11. Is there anyone out there that can help. I moved into this falt back in January 2006. I found out that I was having to move down to the West Midlands in November 2005 when I got myself a new job. The landlord of the flat said that because there would be no one in the falt during December 2005 that in order to secure the place I would have to pay (the norm) 1 months deposit plus a month rent which was done before I moved but since as I said the flat was vacant that I would have to pay half months rent for December 2005, to make sure that I would get the place. I needed somewhere to move to and so because of time constriant I paid it. So paid out: £45.00 - Credit Checked (which he dumped on me at the last minute before paying) £225.00 - Half month rent for December 2005 £450.00 - Month's deposit £450.00 - One Month Rent. Was he fair in charging me for December 2005? If not can I be entitled to get the money back. Colin
  12. Is there anyone that can help me? I have had my landlord call me twice in regards to a bill that has been sent to him by British Gas in regards to the electricity. This bill relates to £117.00 (approx) in charges that have been accrrued before I moved in. I went to question this with British Gas and they said that I do not know this money according to my own account with them. My landlord called me to find out about it and said to me that to find out what it was about. On Friday 16th Feb 2007, I got another call from my landlord who said that he had another letter from British Gas saying that they were threatening with door collection. Again told him that the bill wasn't mine but he said that he would point them in my direction about the unpaid bill. Although he has saifd these things he has not given me any information about it so why should I do the chasing over it. Where do I stand with it. I think the bill is in rleation to possibly charges accrrued before I moved in. Many thanks Colin
  13. On a seperate matter I am taking them to court to claim back all the charges that have occurred on my account when I was with them.
  14. I had similar problem with the Nationwide in the fact that I had a DD returned unpaid once before, but then paid the company (ie Sky) along with the next payment by card. Sky told me that they wouldn't take the next payment out but they did and I got charged for it by Nationwide because of no funds in the account at the time. Sky decided to claim both charges seperately and therefore I got charged twice by the Nationwide for this £30.00 x 2 plus en extra £20.00 for going overdrawn because of it. I told Sky that they were out of order but they couldn't give a brass monkey about it. I mentioned this to Nationwide who said that they would look into the matter. I got a letter from them, telling that "since I was a valued bank account holder" they sympathised, "you are not getting anything from us". Two faced liars they are (Nationwide).
  15. I could do with some advice here. I have received a letter from the HSBC in relation to charges I have asked to be reimbursed. Below is the written wording from the HSBC in the letter they sent me: Dear Mr You Reference: xxxxxx/xxxxxxxx Thank you for you letter dated 17th December 2006 requesting a refund of your bank charges of £877.88 passed during the last year. In circumstances where you would like us to make a oayment from you account that would, if met by us, lead to your account going overdrawn or over an agreed overdraft limit, we have to consider whether to make this payment. A fee is payable for this service provided by the bank, details of which are clearly set out in our published price list. The circumstances in which the fee will aply are clearly set out in our Personal Banking terms and conditions which you have already been provided with. If your claim for a refund proceeded to Court, we therfore believe we would successfully resist any lgal challenge in relation to these fees. We are, however, mindful of the management time and irrecoverable legal costs that it may incur in realtion to such a claim. For those commerical reasons alone, and without any admission of liability whatsoever, we are prepared to make a payment to you for the sum of £700.00 in full and final settlement of this matter. This represents our offer of the charges applied up to 21st December 2006. We note that you have added "interest" to your request for a refund. We do not accept this is appropriate and therefore our offer of a refund does not include any interest. It goes on, about if i want to accept it. Also if some of the cahrges have been paid and the account went back into credit once a deposit went in can I ask for those particular charges back to me personally as these have been paid but others will have to go on to the bank account as these are outstanding charges? Do I accept it or reject and go to court? What is everyones opinion?
