  1. Thanks for your advice. I called the number at the top of the letter as suggested. The lady I spoke to said because I'd settled my claim the 28 would be looked upon as a new claim and she was unable just to take it off. I told her i wanted to close my account and wanted this sorted out but i'd go through the whole process again if need be. She put me on hold then said that i should go in to my branch to close my account and ask them to remove the 28 charge. If they refuse or can't do it then I'm to ask the Bank to call (number at top of letter), quoting my ref. no. and they will make sure it's removed. So, i'm off to the Bank tomorrow. Seems to be a long winded way of doing things.
  2. I called the Bank this morning using the number at the top of the offer letter and made the excuse that i was calling to confirm that they received my acceptance forms. They said they had, so i asked if he could give me an idea of when I can could expect the funds in my acct. and he said claim was in the processing dept. Anyway, just checked and the money is in my account. Now - just need to try and have the 28 removed that is due to come off on jan31.
  3. I've just being refunded my claim money today in the Bank. Unfortunately, I missed the fact that a £28 charge is due to come off at the end of Jan. Can I claim even although I signed an acceptance form for the account? Is it easier to ring customer services to speak to them about removing the charge or ring the number given at the top of the letters regarding my last claims? I thought it maybe better to ring before starting the whole palava again. Appreciate your advice.
  4. Thanks. I guess I'll just have to be patient but I can't help checking my bank account every hour!
  5. Hi, Just wondering how long Halifax takes to pay the refunds into your account after you have signed the acceptance forms? I sent mine back last Friday. I was notified that I will be served a default notice on Feb 4th, so I was hoping to have funds asap to pay in to my account. I have an overdraft that I have to pay back in full. I had already had trouble with them asking me to pay everything back before I started this proccess. When i spoke to the last woman who called me about my overdraft, I had told her that my account was in dispute bla, bla. She said to me "if i was you, i'd worry about having your account going into default and having a bad record for the next 6 years". I ended up telling her i didn't have to speak to her and put the phone down because she was pretty nasty. I hate Halifax so much it gives me palpitations thinking of them.
  6. Halifax offered me the full amounts the first time round on both accounts i was claiming for - £207 and £345. They offered me it by letter after i had filed the LBA. Sent the signed agreement form on Friday last week, hopefully should see money at the end of this week.
  7. Sorry - have posted this twice as I just submitted one but I think I did it wrong. Hi, Just to let you know that Halifax have paid up the full amount for my two accounts and all in a relatively short amount of time. Already had electronic statements so didn't need to send for my statements. Asked for - £179 and £345 14/12/06 - sent letter requesting refund 21/12/06 - received acknowledgement letter 02/01/07 - sent LBA 09/01/07 - received offer of £207. Declined offer thinking they were offering me 207 for both. 11/01/07 - received offer of £345 - Realised after looking at my letters that both had different roll numbers on them and that they had after all responded to my request that both accts. be refunded of charges. The £207 instead of £179 threw me off until I logged on to my account and realised that they had charged me a further £28 for an unauthorized overdraft. I was suprised that they had refunded me a further £28 without me asking for it. I'm very pleased with the result and will donate money when I receive my money through. Thanks for all the help.

  9. Hi, On December 14th I sent two letters together asking for a refund of charges for my two accounts; one that is active - asking for refund of £179 and another that was closed last year - £345. I received an acknowledgment a couple of days later but nothing else. LBA for both accounts was sent at beginning of Jan. On Tuesday (9th) I received an offer of £207. I called up and said I wasn't accepting the offer and wanted the full amount for both accounts. On talking to the rep it turns out that they were only aware of one account (one they owe 345), and he said they'd look into it and call me back. Sent my decline letter in the meantime with a copy of each of LBA letters for their clarification. Today received a letter offering me full amount of £345 for my account. I notice the roll number at the top refers to the correct account, which is my old closed acct. However, no mention of my other. Obviously I plan to accept this offer but does that mean they may think that I have accepted as full and final payment for both accounts? Or does it mean that the rolll number means payment is specifically for that one account and I should receive another letter regarding the other? Sorry - hope i make sense. Appreciate your advice please.
  10. Hi, I have been reading registered for a while but haven't posted anything until today. Last week I finally sent a letter to HBOS asking for refunds for bank charges over the 1.5 years - £645. I had two bank accounts with them - one was a basic acct., which is now closed and a current account, which is still open. Although my basic bank account recently closed and that was the one with most of the charges, does that mean I won't be able to reclaim any money? My current account had an overdraft of £280 in it and a couple of months ago i received a phone call saying that because I don't use it anymore I had to pay back the 280 immediately. I explained that i am a full-time student and wasn't able to pay it back all at once but could only pay back small amounts every month. However, they have been calling me constantly and being very agressive. They also said that if I don't pay by the end of the month then I will be charged £28 each month that I am overdrawn and action will be taken. I did receive a response from the Bank acknowledging my first letter and that they will get back to me after a specialist reviews my claim. Today is the 14th day. Should I send my second letter? Thanks for your help.
