  1. PLEASE HELP ME I bought my wedding dress over a year ago which cost me £1400 and with 8 weeks to my wedding i have been having some alterations done to it. Two weeks ago i noticed a small mark on it so i took it to Johnsons dry cleaners and paid £61 to have it cleaned, this £61 covered the dress for upto £600 if anything went wrong (it was £200 to be cleaned and insured upto £1000) i couldn't afford the £200 and thought what could go wrong so i paid the £61 (my stupidity once again). I picked the dress up on Friday and unpacked it all and there was eight tears all over the net, as you can imagine i was devestated. I phoned up Johnsons who said to take it straight back down, they basically have said that they will repair it as best they can, however if they cant i can claim off the insurance but only upto £600 and they keep the dress. I was just wondering if anyone knows why i had to take out seperate insurance surley it would have been covered by public liabilty, also could i claim compensation for all the upset it has caused plus all the running around i have had to do looking for another dress. Thanks in advance. Hayley
  2. Sorry i am being dumb today, yes i did send them a schedule but my charges was only £887 not £949 which halifax say are my total charges. I think your'e right i will accept the money and be pleased that they are another £1069 out of pocket. As soon as i received this money i will definately be making a donation you lot have been fab. Good luck to everyone else who are fighting Halifax and all the other banks. Just one more question then i will leave you alone, Halifax are saying that i have to reply in 7 days do you think a fax would be ok and how should i word it. Cheers
  3. Hi They didn't attach a schedule, i am actually desperate for the money as i am getting married in 8 weeks so i was thinking of just accepting it, if i say i will accept the money £1069 but still carry on with the claim for the £149 do you think they will pay the £1069 anyway? Sorry to be a pest.
  4. Hi everyone I have never actually posted on here before but have been on here every day for the past two months reading all the posts that relate to Halifax and you all have been a great help so thank you. Just to let other people aware basically to cut a long story short i had started court proceedings against the Halifax after follwing the necessary steps, they said they were intending to defend the claim which gave them until July 18th. Today i received a letter basically saying that it would cost them too much money to take me to court and even if they won they may not be able to claim their charges so for this reason, but without admission to liability they were willing to reimburse £949 in respect of bank charges incurred and £120 court fee, however they do not consider that i am entitled to the further £149.23 that i am claiming and unless i can provide evidence of this further loss the Halifax will file a defence in respect of this part of my claim, i think the £149.23 may be the 8% interest they did say they had attached a schedule of bank charges but there wasn't one typical of Halifax. Has anybody been in this situation and what did you do, did you accept the money offered but continue with the claim until it had been settled in full? Your help would be really appreciated. Thank you!!!!
